We had a great stay here. Ellen was wonderful and makes the home easy to rent. The house has been remodeled and looks great with a clean beach decor. One of the best features of renting this house was that when we were ready to leave we didn't have to clean the home, a cleaning fee was included in our renting rate and certainly made leaving a little easier! The beach is a short block away and you can easily walk or bike to any other restaurants/stores in Dewey. The home does sit along route 1 but the privacy fence keeps some noise out and makes it seem like you are on a back street. If you are looking for a place to rent while at the beach, choose this one.

This property was very charming. It was comfortable for six adults. The open floor plan made it nice to socialize while preparing meals. We enjoyed relaxing by the fire outside in the evenings. We took our bicyles and enjoyed riding to Rehobeth and nearby neighborhoods admiring the homes. This property is close to restaurants and the beach. It was everything we had expected. Would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

It was an awesome place to stay in Dewey beach! The location was perfect! Everything was in walking distance, I think I moved my car once just to go grocery shopping. The Cottage was very spacious. It was perfect for my family. The firepit was a plus, we used it every night! I would love to rent again next summer!

We were very happy with the cottage and the location! The cottage is even nicer than the pictures! The location was great, close to the beach and restaurants and shops! I was nice to be able to walk to most places . The outdoor shower was a real plus!

Great spot!!! everything you need in a cottage; cozy, comfortable, so close to the beach and all of the attractions. ample parking for 3 cars. great side yard. definitely planning on staying here everytime i go to dewey!

What a great place to stay for a fun weekend in Dewey! We were pleasantly surprised by the very open layout in the living room/dining room area. It was perfect for hanging out and having a meal together before walking into town. Everything was immaculately kept, spacious, and cheery. While the traffic next to the house was a little noisy during rush hour, it quieted down at night. The fence provided great privacy and we would def. rent again!

Our party of six adults plus two dogs had a great weekend getaway! The main room is spacious enough that we didn't feel claustrophobic and the decks provide extra space for hanging out. We also enjoyed the fire pit on a cool October evening. The main road next to the house is hardly noticeable, and the driveway easily fit two cars. Despite another reviewer's concern about backing out of the driveway, we did not find it to be a problem. Everything that we wanted to do was close by and the house was in great condition. Ellen's great with communication and recommendations. We hope to come back for another visit!

I booked the house for myself and a group of girlfriends from high school. From the beginning, Ellen was wonderful and very friendly! The house is walking distance from the beach and some great spots in Dewey. A drive to the outlets is very short! We really enjoyed ourselves and are hoping to repeat the experience at the Lone Star Cottage again next year!

We had a wonderful time here, and felt at home immediately. It was very relaxing and super-convenient to the beach and a short drive to shopping (it rained). Walking distance to a great diner and some fun bars as well. Ellen is wonderful to deal with and the house was really clean and comfortable. I highly recommend it! My one warning would be that it is very close to the highway, so with small kids or dogs you need to keep close watch, but it wasn't noisy at all and we had a great time - thanks!

Our stay was in August and we had a fabulous time at the cottage. It was extremely clean and the kitchen had all that I could have hoped for as far as utensils and dishes. This was our first time renting a house and overall it was an extremely positive experience. While the driveway was right on the highway, the back and side yard were private and the outdoor shower was a plus. I really appreciate that we were able to bring our little Shorkie with us to the beach, and Ellen's is one of the few houses to allow pets, so thank you!

Fantastic Vacation Home for Family and Pets

This was our first trip to the beach with our family and this cottage was fantastic. It was clean, cozy and only a few minutes walk to the beach. It's location is prime for all the major eateries and we found the town of Dewey to be more laid back then the more touristy Rehoboth. The only real complaint we have was the back fenced in yard/grass was not cut and when we were there (with our pups) there were weeds that had grown and were a bit annoying. Plus the home is right up against Route 1 which did not bother us however others might find the high traffic noise a bit annoying. This was a great place and we plan on coming back again next year.

We had a wonderful time at the Lone Star Cottage. It was convenientlly located to the beach. The fenced in side yard with deck and burn pit was fantastic! I would highly recommend this location to anyone who wants to vacation in Dewey!!!

Your cottage is a great getway! It's proximity to the beach, shopping and restaurants are definitely a plus. We found it clean and well cared for... including all the amenities & appliances one could ask for. Because you indicated you're still renovating, my only suggestion would be to extend the fenced area to include the deck off the front of the house. In the summer it would be nice to keep the doors open to move about the house, deck, yard & fire pit.

Our stay was lovely. Found everything we needed. It was such a short walk to the beach and we were able to walk our dog there often. Dewey is awesome in the Fall and we loved our time there.

We usually stay at a local motel since we have our two Alaskan Malamutes for our annual trip to Dewey, but this year we decided to try a rental house and we're so glad we did. It was a fabulous experience at the Lone Star and it made things so much easier, especially with our newborn daughter. The driveway was a little bit of a challenge to get in and out of, but other than that we had a WONDERFUL time. Highly recommended!

We had a fabulous week! Location is very convenient and easily accessed. Outdoor shower was excellent and very handy. Cottage was clean and had everything we needed. Croquet and bocce games in the side yard were fun for all. Excellent family location. We will be back!

My friends and I stayed at this house for a week in June. We had a blast! The house was in a prime location that was a short walk from the beach and a short drive from the boardwalk. Loved the outside shower and the fire pit. Thanks Ellen!

This unit exceeded all our expectations. It was very private from neighbors despite being right on the street. Compared to other properties I don't think there is a more private location with the bamboo fence on one side. The backyard firepit and the front yard proved more than enough space to cool off after the short walk to the beach. Prime location in Dewey. The service was exceptional and very welcoming. Also the unit is very modern. I would recommend this property to anyone - friend, mother, grandmother. Being right next to Ned's seafood helps too!

My family and I was very impressed with the rental. We really felt relaxed and at home! I was concerned about the location at first having small children on a main road but it ended up being quite a secure town and police on patrol at all times. The deck in the front wasn't really private but the side porch and fire pit areas were. And the outside shower really came in handy! (Could use a hose to rinse off beach schtuff). The accomodations were phenomenal and beautifully decorated, we will remember our stay for a lifetime! Thank you Ellen, you're the best! I think we are going to become repeat renters!

Could not get any better!! This was a great place at a great location! I stayed last week with my sister and our families and had a wonderful time! Very kid friendly with a fenced in back yard! At the beach in seconds and great shopping in minutes! So many activities to do we could not do them all! Thanks for all of your help Ellen, we had the BEST vacation!

Inside of the house is lovely, and well appointed. No doubt outside will be as well when renovations are finished. Close to beach and town, very convenient.
