The Dunleavey (pronounced dun LOVE e ) is a beautiful, Non-Smoking, La Jolla Shores House which is just one block (500 feet) from Beach (West) or two from Village (South), walk to down town La Jolla. Just 15 minutes to Sea World and 20 minutes to the Airport and San Diego's World Famous Zoo. 100% Furnished. Need only bring your beach clothes and evening attire for sunset dining in La Jolla.
We have created a retreat for a group or a family looking to enjoy great weather, clean ocean, warm beaches, fabulous parks with swings, and excellent dining nearby. We can e-mail pictures and floor plan, E-mail or fax the rental application, and confirm availability.
We have an outdoor hot and cold shower to cool down after a stoked filled surf session. Breakfast on the deck in the morning sun. House is very private and fully gated with front gate locks securing the property, as well as family inside.
Nearby are the world famous San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Wild Animal Park, Legoland, Balboa Park, Scripps Aquarium, Carlsbad Flower Fields, Coronado Island, and Mexico is just 60 minutes to the south. About one mile from the house is the public La Jolla Tennis Club and Recreation Center with Gym and great playground. Summer programs (i.e. Day Camps) for children are available daily. Jump into the water at La Jolla Shores to Scuba dive in the Natural Reserve, learn to surf or ocean kayak.

When I stepped into The Dunleavey, I was welcomed by the bright rays of sunshine and beautiful view through the numerous windows facing the ocean. Upstairs, I enjoyed the spacious den and the wide open kitchen which was equipped with top-of-the-line appliances and all the “bear” necessities. I was excited about the upstairs master bedroom where I could relax in the king size bed and listen to the waves crashing on the beach. I had my very own private bathroom, including two sinks, a large shower and a walk-in closet. The large windows and sliding glass door that opened to the perfect view of the beach was my favorite feature of the master bedroom. Downstairs, I had the choice of staying in one of three bedrooms, all wonderfully furnished with lots of room to invite my bear friends. In the morning, I was able to enjoy a breakfast out on the deck in the sunny La Jolla weather.
Outside of the home, I loved being able to walk to the beach and spend time surfing or just dipping my paws in the soft, warm sand. While in La Jolla, I favored the small shops and delectable restaurants, which were all in walking distance of The Dunleavey! I was even able to visit some of my friends at The Wild Animal Park and the world famous San Diego Zoo which were within a short drive. Overall, The Dunleavey is a very relaxing beach home for a family large or small!

We stayed at a different property that is managed by the same owner, but thought it would be helpful to provide feedback (it is in the same area as advertised property). 1) Basic supplies were absent - as soon as we arrived, we had to go out and buy toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap, dish soap, dish scrubby, dish washer detergent, etc. We understand having to get a couple of items that run out, but this seems like a lot given what we were paying per night to stay there. Maybe this is normal course for most of your properties / clients but we haven't experienced this in other rental properties. 2) No light illuminating stairs outside of garage - this is a safety issue. I came home with groceries at 9pm, fell down the steps and was particularly dangerous given I'm 7 months pregnant. I twisted my ankle and had a few scrapes, but this could have been much worse. 3) Lack of instructions - it would be a good idea to have some general instructions on how to lock the sliding doors, if supplies need to be purchased, etc. 4) Towels and bed linens - are not up to par with what you are charging, when you pay the rates charged here higher quality linens are expected. 5) General cleanliness / repairs and maintenance required - it was disappointing that a load of washing was left for us to complete, duvet on our bed was soiled and without a cover, a pair of underwear was found at the foot of bed, grill in main bathroom was extremely dirty / dusty, floors were very sandy, white mat in kitchen was extremely dirty and should be cleaned or thrown out, etc. We also found that there were plenty of items in need of repair such as the garage door opener, microwave tray, oven door does not close completely and extended cooking times significantly, can't enter through back door as no key was given, BBQ is extremely dirty and corroded. Overall, we did not feel that we got value for our money (relative to the La Jolla home we stayed at for first week of our vacation and other locations we've used through VRBO in the past). While the location was as advertised (close proximity to beach) and we did find the property owner to be extremely nice / courteous, and really appreciated some of your help (the babysitting, coming over to help with locking windows / stick for side door), but that simply does not make up for the numerous deficiencies. As mentioned above, we rarely provide negative feedback on any services/products but really felt that we should warn others

We were actually unable to stay here because our children got sick last minute but will definitely try again. Owners were very helpful in finding the right place for us and offered many services to make our would be stay amazing. I would definitely book with them again based solely on the manner with which they tried to help us. AMAZING customer service.
Recommended for:Girls getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.
