Our chalet is located in black bear resort, Canaan Valley. The late John Denver described it best "Almost heaven".
Canaan, the highest valley east of the Mississippi at 3200 feet elevation is hugged by 4200 feet high mountains. Home to two state parks, two popular ski areas, the Monongahela National Forest, and West Virginia Wildlife Refuge nestled in the very heart of this peaceful paradise.
Within a very short drive (10 minutes on route 32) you can be at Timberline or Canaan ski slopes, which can be seen from the resort.
Close by historic towns of Davis and Thomas offer many restaurants for casual dining. In Thomas, the purple fiddle restaurant offers live blue grass music. Stop and shop at the antique shops, coffee house, general store, etc.
Evenings are somewhat cool even in August. Bring a sweater, relax and cuddle up next to our wood burning fireplace. There is an ample supply of split logs available.
Take advantage of the outdoor deck and gas grill. The grocery store in Davis is open 7 days/week and has just about everything you need to accommodate your stay.
