Lovely Stay

This studio is HUGE! We had SO much space. It was lovely. When we got tired of the crowds, we escaped to the lovely rooftop terrace where we would enjoy a few glasses of wine and listen to the sounds of Rome while watching the sunset or just enjoying the sun. The location is excellent and the neighbourhood is very friendly and entertaining (plenty of people watching). We felt close to everything and, if we didn't want to walk, we just jumped on the Metro (there's a station nearby). We really felt like locals staying in this flat. It was exactly what we wanted and better than we expected. Besides the slow drain in the shower and a dodgy pump in the bathroom (both of which are probably normal for Rome) we had absolutely no issues with the flat. The flat had everything we could want and more. Paola and her staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and excellent to work with and we would stay there again in a second.

Perfect Location in Rome!

My sister and I rented a studio apartment in the building on Via de Serpenti for our first visit to Rome (to Europe actually). It could not have been a more perfect location. On the street you have anything you need, groceries, gelato, food, bar, gift shop, clothing shops, and access to the main roads that lead you to the Coliseum, the subway (which we used very frequently), and other historic sights. Paola was extremely helpful setting us up when we arrived, greeting us in person, and orienting us to the apartment and the rooftop (which has a beautiful view plus table and chairs). She pulled out a map and showed us how to get to many of the sights, plus restaurants. At first the wireless internet did not work on our mobile smart phones, and Paola was very helpful offering us her personal internet access to book tickets to the Vatican and to the Galleria Borghese. The room is quite comfortable for two people, but I would not recommend more than that for the studio. We were able to bring home groceries and cook in the kitchenette which included a stovetop, coffee maker, pots, pans, dishes, utensils and a decent sized refridgerator. Access to the washing machine was great! We packed light, so it was a real treat being able to clean our clothes regularly throughout our 7 day stay. I cannot say enough about the location, it is perfect. Safe, secure, close to everything (only 1 subway stop away from the Roma Termini - which you can really walk to). The night life begins at midnight and can last until 5am, but not on Via de Serpenti (which was nice for us to go to bed fairly early). The young people move on to other places to party after midnight or 1am, so it is quiet enough. The church bells do ring (and woke us up) at 7 or 7:30 am, but I appreciated that so we could get an early start to our day. We were able to walk to Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, the Tiber River, many museums, Pantheon, Campo di Fiore and more. Plus its a short subway ride to Vatican city. Paola also made sure to set us up with an early morning cab ride to Fiumicino Airport the morning of our departure. I can't wait to go back to Rome, and I will live here again. I also would recommend anybody of any age to stay here.

All Roads Lead to Rome

My wife and I spent five days in Paola's apartment. We stayed in the Orange Studio. The photos show a different apartment as Paola has several similar units in the same building. Ours was very well equipped with everything we needed, including a washer and wi-fi. Paula was very helpful and pleasant to deal with. We were able to walk everywhere; Colosseum, Forums, Palatine, Capitoline, Spanish Steps, etc. The Metro is a short walk away and Termini rail station is a fifteen or twenty minute walk. There are many places to eat in the area, an ATM about thirty feet from the door and a small grocery shop across the street. We liked Da Milvio's Pizza one door down for convenience. They have salads and other things than pizza and the food is good. The piazza across the street is a gathering place for locals in the evening and is quite busy. Rome is not a quiet city!

Apartment in Rome's Center

Guest: Gene (United States)
Date of Stay: 10/15/10 Review Submitted: 02/04/11

I stayed in this building for a year in another apartment and in this particular apartment for two weeks on a later trip. Altogether, I have stayed in four apartments in this building from 2007-2010, and I know of no better located or more reasonably priced apartments in the center of Rome. The building is two blocks from the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. The building is a Beaux Arts mansion built around 1900 and converted into apartments by the third-generation owner, who has a degree in art history and who takes great care in the furnishing and maintenance of the apartments. The four-storied building has a roof terrace with a view of the Colosseum. The owner is a pleasure to deal with and entirely trustworthy. I can highly recommend the building and its owner in every respect.

1-8 Jan 2011 Stay at 6 Via Serpenti, Rome

This VRBO is ideally suited for visiting the ancient Roman sites. It is a five minute walk to the Colosseum and surrounding attractions, and within short walks to Trevi Fountain, the Roman baths and Pantheon. We stayed at the address noted in title after arriving from northern Italy by train. The Metro (subway) in Rome is quite easy to navigate, and this property is one stop from the main Termini station once you get on the B Line. Apartment was a short walk and easy to find. Recommend entering the address in Google Maps as a supplement to the directions that Paola provides. Accommodations were quite adequate. Due to availability we stayed in two different apartments over the eight day stay, both furnished with everything you would need to include cooking utensils and toiletries. Paola provided good recommendations on places to shop, eat and see. There are grocery shops one or two doors up from the apartment building and scores of small very good restaurants. Paola provided a map of the central Rome area that was quite useful in navigating throughout the city. If you are interested primarily in the ancient Roman sites, this is an ideal location. Paola was quite gracious and helpful.

Wonderful time in this apt. November 2010

Guest: Mary and Greg (Dallas, TX USA)
Date of Stay: 10/30/10 Review Submitted: 12/19/10

I stayed in Paola's apt during the end of October and first two weeks of November. I truly feel I found the perfect place to stay while in Rome. The apartment was big enough for the two of us. We didn't use the kitchen simply because there were so many good eating places in the Monti district. There is a chinese restaurant 1 block away that was good. The other reviews gave very accurate descriptions about the piazza across the street. We walked our legs off (and lost weight) because this apt was central to most of what we wanted to see. We only took the bus to and from St. Peter's and the Sistine Chapel. The apt. was a very good value in price and everything you needed was provided such as linens, dishes, and a clothes washer. Paola lives on-site and was helpful in making recommendations to us since we had never been to Italy before. We used this apartment as a home base since checking into and out of hotels over and over gets tiring. It was cheaper to rent this apt. and go to Florence and back without the hassle of finding a hotel etc. The street this apt is on is dei Serpenti. We met a man that lived on the street that said the name of the street meant "the serpent". As the gladiators marched to the Coliseum down the street, people would throw lizards and if it landed on the gladiator, he would be lucky that day. I would use this apartment today if I could get the time off from work. I am hoping to come back again since there is so much that I missed the first time.

Perfect location for a Roman Holiday -- bella studio

Guest: Anonymous
Date of Stay: 10/18/10 Review Submitted: 11/11/10

If you are looking for the perfect studio apt at a wonderful price in the center of Rome -- here it is! My wife and I just got back from a week+ Roman Holiday and the location of the studio and hospitality of Paola was superb! The studio was perfect for our holiday senza children. Like a 2nd honeymoon and the studio apt and location made the holiday. Tucked away from Via Cavour and about a block or two from the Forum. Out the window tand down the long street is the Colesseum. The church of San Pietro Vincoli (Michaelangelo's Moses) is very close as well. An assortment of wine bars and cafes are nearby and on the street (via serpenti) especially due to the music college a block or so away. The bells from the church nearby were a wonderful way to start the day (and not too early at that). The small piazza closeby and across via Serpenti is a true local piazza (Romans) with a fountain, nice wine bar and a superb restaurant in the back corner. A flower shop was on the corner for some table flowers for our apt. I lived in Rome for several years and this is truly a wonderful area. Via Serpenti is a great secret street -- one way from the apt and you go up a hill to Via Nazonale and onto the Palazzo Qurinale (former Pope and King's Palace now the President's residence). The other way dow the street is toward the Colesseum. Only tourists are those who wisely come off Via Cavour . . . but not many. The Basilica of St. Maria Maggiore was 10 munites away as was the Rome opera house (we got a box for a ballet -- wonderful.) The owner Paola was fantastic from communicating with us ahead of time and being there for us upon arrival. As she lived upstairs on top of the bldg was nice to have her there if any issues. No issue regarding luggage storage and even a rootop terrace for your use. She was extremely accomdating about getting me extra nights in another unit in the bldg. She provided great hints on local cafes and markets (for coffee, cheese, wine, yogurt, etc.) and local happenings. VRBO continues to be a wonderful resource and the apt was extremely reasonable and much better than a hotel (and much less money-wise). Only 1 flight up from the street level. Very roomy. Laundry, etc. A true studio apt in the center of Rome. (Via Cavour metro is nearby if you use the metro -- plus buses on via Cavour; but we loved to walk.) We look forward to a future Roman Holiday and definitely will stay in Paola's studio!! Grazie mille Paola!!

Beautiful studio, fantastic location

Date of Stay: 06/16/10 Review Submitted: 09/01/10

I stayed in Paola's studio for nearly two months while studying abroad in the summer of 2010. The studio is beautiful, with a large flatscreen TV and a well-equipped (if small) kitchen area. The apartment is great for one or two people; I wouldn't advise for more unless you're very comfortable with each other. The building also had a convenient laundry room and a lovely terrace great for lounging. The location was probably the best part of the apartment; stick your head out of either window and you have a perfect view of the Colosseum down the street. The gorgeous piazza just across the street is full of locals lounging around the fountain every evening and the area is full of good shopping (Via Nazionale is a 5min walk!) and the best restaurants. The apartment is also very convenient to most every monument in Rome if you want to do sightseeing and all kinds of public transport (buses as well as both the Cavour and Colosseo metro stops on line B). Plus, the air-conditioning is a lifesaver in the summer. I highly recommend this studio for anyone who can afford it (it's perfect for two!). It's absolutely worth the extra euros to stay in such a beautiful place and have Rome at your fingertips.
