Classy, Cozy, and Peacefully Quiet

Guest: PhotoHoos (Northern Virginia)
Date of Stay: 03/16/12 Review Submitted: 04/01/12

We knew before our trip that we could expect rain and chilly temperatures for the weekend, but we needed a getaway to relax and refresh. It did, indeed, rain all day that first day, but the day ended with our arrival at Forth Vineyards, and it was a beautiful way to end a rainy day. Gerry met us as we drove in and welcomed us to a fabulous sanctuary. What did we find? A warm, cozy, cottage-like apartment that looked out over vineyards and the rolling hills of Dry Creek Valley. It was comfy, beautifully appointed, and the quintessential Wine Country hideaway, but only 15 minutes from the square in Healdsburg! Everything about Jann and Gerry’s listing is absolutely accurate. The apartment reflects their style and class, as can be seen all around Forth Vineyards and as comes through very clearly when you hear Gerry talk about his wine and his passion for what he and Jann have created. They have provided an class and quiet place to relax and enjoy and they share all that they know about the best places to visit in Sonoma.

Owner response:...such sweet words!! thank you so much! ...so happy to know you enjoyed your stay!

The Perfect Spot for a Much-Needed "Date" Away From Home!

Guest: J & C (Turlock, CA)
Date of Stay: 03/02/12 Review Submitted: 03/05/12

What a perfect place to escape to for our once a year get-away! With teenages and a toddler at home, we don't get very much alone time. And this darling guest house tucked in the trees and overlooking the vines was the perfect spot to catch up, talk, relax and have some romance ;) Jann was a great hostess and made us feel welcome from the minute we pulled into the driveway. We felt at home and yet we also felt very much this was our own private time. Thank you for a wonderful weekend. Next time we'll share a drink on the patio, but this time was just fine leaving us to our own devices... PERFECT!

Owner response:Janice & Calvin... Thank you so much for your sweet words...we are so happy to know that you enjoyed your stay and look forward to your next visit!

We recently celebrated our anniversary in Healdsburg and stayed at the cottage on the Forth Winery property. We could not have asked for a more perfect setting. Jann and Gerry are very welcoming and full of great information on places to visit. Its location is secluded and private but yet close to Healdsburg to offer great dining, shopping and sightseeing options. Bring your hiking shoes and take advantage of the trails and paths through the vineyards.

Owner response:You are both absolutely adorable! It was a treat to meet you and an honor to have you celebrate your anniversary here! Thank you so much your lovely words!

Rent this apartment for your next getaway, you will not be dissapointed! The Forth Vineyards is an amazing piece of property with some truly welcoming and warm hosts. Jann and Gerry (and their adorable golden retriever Caspian) greeted us like we were old friends and made us feel so welcome and at home. They were incredibly attentive to any need and quite hospitable. The apartment is beautifully decorated, cozy, and perfect for a romantic weekend. The location is super close to charming Healdsburg and a fabulous base camp for any Sonoma adventure. We left right from the property and spent a fabulous day biking and wine tasting on West Dry Creek Road. It was a perfect weekend, thanks in large part to our wonderful stay! Thank you Jann and Gerry!!

Owner response:Thank YOU so much!! You were absolutely delightful! Cheers! j

This apartment/cottage is very private. We enjoyed wine tasting with the owners. The wine is wonderful and we joined Forth Wine Club. The week we stayed there the fall colors were brilliant. The view on the property is spectacular. We loved everything about our weekend. We plan to come back again in the summer. The backroads in Healdsburg are a great area for bike riding,

Jann and Gerry were both great hosts. The cottage rental is clean, beautifully furnished...the stove heater was perfect for the cool mornings. How incredible to be sleeping among the vines with incredible views and no sounds but those of Mother Nature. Gerry stoked the fire in the grill so we could eat dinner on the stone terrace over looking vineyards-complete with a bonfire. Perfect! Their beautiful winery is a paradise we are fortunate they share witg guests. Then there is the wine-outstanding! Not to be missed.

Winemaker from Kentucky visits Forth Winery and VRBO in early November

Guest: D (Franklin, KY)
Date of Stay: 11/01/11 Review Submitted: 11/07/11

My wife and I feel that this is the perfect place to go and visit...and would love to go back...but we really don't get out that much. We were steered to Forth from a friend that had been to the farm for wine tasting and had joined the Forth wine club...which we had enjoyed. We had been to Healdsburg before but this place with its small acerage, baby doll sheep and hand-made wines sounded too good to be true. In fact...everything was like a storybook. This place was isolated and way off the beaten track. It was the end of harvest season and busy but had a relaxed atmosphere. We got up early and hiked their farm loop... about 3 miles and had it all to ourselves through vineyards, Sonoma hills and oaks.. Later, I was able to get the feel of fine California winemaking by helping to load the press with Cabernet grapes and watch a press run. Also got some good tips on barrel management from Gerry. Very Impressed with how scrappy Jann was working with the wine. She was about a foot shorter than me but outworked me a little. Anyway...fantastic 2 days and all wines were fantastic but especially surprised by the lesser known of their wines...the Rose and Syrah were much better than any we had in California. D

Could not have hoped for better

Guest: Brian (Greenville, SC)
Date of Stay: 10/27/11 Review Submitted: 11/02/11

What a perfect setting. When you think about what you would want in a trip to wine country, you think, private, quiet, cozy room. Super-friendly & helpful hosts. Picturesque view among vines and rolling hills. Great wine. Check. Check. Check. And check. Surrounded by vineyards, the studio apartment is charming and quiet. The bed is comfy and the bathroom spacious. While the apartment is cool, the real magic is on the terrace. With a majestic view of vineyards and rolling hills, you feel secluded from the outside world, a couple miles from any major road. It's the perfect place to sip wine, tell stories and gaze at the stars, all beside a cozy fire. The location is very accessible to Healdsburg and the rest of the Dry Creek Valley. There were at least two dozen other wineries within a 15 minute drive. We truly could not have asked for a better place to immerse ourselves in wine country, and I'm remiss that we only spent three nights. We will certainly stay here again if the opportunity arises.

Owner response:Thank you SO much for your lovely, poetic words!! We are so happy you enjoyed your stay and do hope for an opportunity to see you both again! ...till then, happy brewing! cheers!

We visited Forth Vineyards in October for two nights. We love the Healdsburg area and this is right in the midst of wineries and close to downtown. Jann had so many excellent suggestions for dinner, wineries, and other sites. We spent two days at wineries and also added a trip to Jenner (on the ocean) for lunch. Excellent restaurant! One of the best meals we had while there. On the way there we stopped at wineries and Armstrong Forest. Beautiful spot! We ate at Scopa in Healdsburg twice for dinner. It was harvest time so they were very busy as were we. The only thing that we missed was sitting on the terrace at night with a fire and sharing a bottle of wine. We always got back too late! The wine that was waiting in our room when we got there was fantastic! We will be back, even if it's just to visit the winery! Thanks for your hospitality!

We truly enjoyed your property and hospitality. If your looking for a personal touch this is the place for you! There were so many wonderful things about our visit to the Forth Vineyard. We really enjoyed hiking around the property and tasting the grapes off the vines! The pillowy soft bed was comfy and cozy. The little touches you will find here that make it so special include the Forth's leaving their wine to enjoy along with fresh fruit, coffee and cream. We took many of your tips and enjoyed all we ate and drank while in Healdsburg. We will definitely recommend it! The wine you make is also fantastic, thanks for sharing a bottle with us.

Relaxing Weekend Retreat

Guest: Hoop (Tulsa, OK)
Date of Stay: 09/28/11 Review Submitted: 10/05/11

We visited for a long weekend during harvest season, looking for a quiet, romantic getaway. The guesthouse at Forth Vineyards couldn't have been more perfect. Jann & Gerry are warm and welcoming (without being intrusive at all), and their presence adds to the entire experience. I'd highly recommend arranging a wine tasting with them during a visit. The location is perfect. The guesthouse is only ~4 miles outside Healdsburg, so it's easy to access the town and its amazing restaurants. But when you're on property it is so quiet and secluded that you feel much further away. You wake up to gorgeous sunrises over the vineyards, and at night you can see every star in the sky. The location is perfect for secluded walks or biking, or a gorgeous (but challenging) run through the hills of Healdsburg. After having stayed here we couldn't imagine having stayed anywhere else during our trip, and look forward to visiting again.

The weekend cottage everyone wishes they had

I don't think I could ever spend another weekend in wine country at a "normal" hotel or B&B when I knew I could instead wake up at this place and be surrounded by vineyards, great views, charming country lanes, sheep and chickens. I'm kicking myself for not finding this place sooner. The cottage was idyllic, very clean, simple yet had everything you needed. Go to the bakery in town the day before so you can have your morning coffee and danish while watching the sun rise over the vineyards while wearing your PJs. Your blood pressure won't get any lower without passing out.

We've been to wine country many times, and stayed at many different places, but this was the best! Jann and Gerry are the best hosts, and have a beautiful place to stay at their vineyard. The room is beautiful, and they welcome you with a bottle of their wonderful wine. We really enjoyed our stay, and felt more like family, since they give you free rein of the grounds. The bed is one of the most comfortable we've ever slept in. We will be back!

The Forth's vineyard is the perfect peaceful place to relax and enjoy wonderful wine and serene surroundings. Views of grapes out the door and of the vineyard from the table across the room. We loved having the windows open and enjoyed the cool evening air and bright stars at night! Pictures cannot show you how wonderful life among the vines truly is... Sitting on the stone patio with Jann, chatting, sipping and nibbling on little wine "sponges" with someone who felt more like a dear friend than anything else. We hope to be back to relax among the vines again.

This was our second trip to Napa/Sonoma. We learned with the first visit (based in Napa) that Sonoma was much more to our liking, both in the great wine and wonderful people. This little hideaway was as far from the downtown Napa lifestyle as one could imagine. It was close to many of the wineries I wanted to visit, but close enough to town to enjoy find food with a short commute. But neither of these conveniences beats out the wonder of the location's incredible peacefulness.

Owner response:thank you so much...so happy to hear that you enjoyed your visit!

Spiritual Renewal at a Wine Country Oasis

Guest: ida d. (Los Angeles)
Date of Stay: 08/22/11 Review Submitted: 08/27/11

From the moment we arrived at this charming and comfortable guest house we were welcomed with open arms. The owners, Jann and Gerry couldn't have been more gracious and inviting. A welcome bottle of Forth wine was awaiting. My husband chose the All Boys Cabernet and emphatically proclaimed it to be the best Cab he's ever had! Of course we had to take some home. We were given access to the entire property... the vineyards, sheep, chickens, friendly pups, fresh apples from their tree, wild blackberries and amazing vistas. Dinner at sunset on the stone patio, overlooking the vineyards, was divine. The guest unit was quaint, clean and cozy. The bed was comfy, the bathroom spacious, and the views from the studio were a joy to wake up to. The property is tucked away in a beautiful spot in the Dry Creek Valley, and just a short drive away were many wonderful vineyards and tasting rooms. At the end of our stay, Jann escorted us to the stone patio for a private wine tasting. This included her delicious "wine sponges" (little savory cream puffs with gruyere and parmesan cheese). The wines were fabulous, but even better was the wonderful conversation and time of relaxation with our gracious host. Jann goes out of her way to make you feel like family and takes the time to sit a spell and visit with you during the wine tasting. If you want to renew your spirit and escape the worries of the world for a brief moment in time, take a trip to Healdsburg and Forth Vineyards. This little getaway, and the precious memories we carried home with us, will forever stay in our hearts and minds. Thank you Jann and Gerry for an amazing time.

Owner response:The pleasure of your visit was ours...we enjoyed you both so much! Thank you for kind and generous review!

It's a nice size studio, with a comfy bed and a great bathroom. There is a beautiful garden and views views views. The owner (who has lovely, warm energy) welcomed us into her house and let us taste some of the Forth Vineyard wines --- it was a total bonus. Jan was warm and available, but not at all intrusive. It was a wonderful experience all around. I would not hesitate to return!

My husband and I spent a wonderful week at the Forth guest house. We'd stayed in Healdsburg the year before and really took to the Dry Creek Valley region. Upon reading the reviews of the property we were confident enough to book it for six nights without hesitation, and upon arriving we were thoroughly impressed with everything about the guest house and the grounds. From the luxurious linens to the freshly-cut flowers, Jann and Gerry really make guests feel as if they have landed upon their own private sanctuary in wine country. A similar cottage of this caliber at a spa or resort would set one back five or six times the nightly rate at Forth, and would not have been so special. We hope to return soon.

Wonderful Wine Country Retreat

Date of Stay: 07/11/11 Review Submitted: 07/18/11

My wife and I spent three nights at Jan and Geary's loft July 11-14, 2011. The experience was exactly what we were looking for: a great home base to tour the small wineries of North Sonoma County, absolutely gorgeous surroundings, and gracious hosts. If you want a place to get away from it all, this is it. The loft was comfy and cozy (wife's terms). Close to everything, yet far enough away from main roads to give you the real feeling of being out in the country. Our three mile walk through neighboring vinyard roads, led by Caspian the Golden Retriever, was a highlight. Sitting on the "patio", sipping some of their great cabernet, watching the sun go down with a cool breeze as the sheep graze in front of you in the vineyard. Does it get any better than that? We loved it. Thanks Jan and Geary for a great 26th anniversary stay.

Everything about this property is gorgeous! My boyfriend and I were staying in the area for a 4 day trip around wine country. We picked the property because it seemed secluded, but comfortable. Upon arriving we were greeted by one of the wonderful owners, Jann, and shown to an adorable cottage right next to their house. In the cottage was a bottle of their wine (EXCELLENT!), fresh cut flowers, robes, slippers, all the bath products you could think of, and one of the most comfortable beds ever. Each morning we woke up to hear the animals restling around nearby, birds chirping, and could see the vineyards right out our front door. It was all so amazing! Although the cottage is really off the main road, it provides a seclusion and sense of relaxation that you will NEVER find in a hotel. Be sure to visit, be sure to drink the All Boys cab, be sure to pet the friendly dog, and be sure to get a personal tasting from Gerry. One of the best experiences we have ever had!

Owner response:...such a delight to meet you both...and so happy to know that you enjoyed your stay! Thank you so much for taking time to post this lovely review! Cheers! j

We have just returned from four wonderful nights at Forth Vineyards and simple perfection is truly the only way to describe our stay. The studio is warm and inviting with careful detail to have everything you might need at hand. You just want to nestle in and enjoy the beauty of the vineyards that surround you in every direction. And this is all a complete reflection of Jann and Gerry and the dream they have achieved at Forth not only in the beautiful accommodations but in the special wines they are creating. How lucky any visitor is to have the opportunity to share that dream. We feel we are now amoung the blessed and hope to return in the future.

Thank you Jann for the lovely reception upon our arrival to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday. healdsburg's best kept secret....

Guest: dani (Danville)
Date of Stay: 01/20/11 Review Submitted: 02/08/11

the listing for this magical little nook does not do it justice!!! beginning with the drive to the forth's property from the freeway, to the windy road that makes its way into the little valley, to the arrival at the house surrounded by vineyards...ohhlala, this place will continue to surprise and excite you. The studio was deliciously romantic, light and airy-windows windows, warm and toasty (thanks to the stove oven)...every detail so unique and delightful - jam in the fridge, indoor slippers, a welcoming bottle of wine, frogs at night... Jann and Gerry were very responsive both when i was planning the trip and when my boyfriend and i were there. Gerry gave us a fabulous tour of the property to show us where the wine is made, where it sleeps and where it is bottled. Following that, Jann set up a wine tasting/story telling session overlooking the vineyards...it was unreal. Based on our hosts' recommendations, my boyfriend and i were constantly on the go, soaking up as much of the wine country and the coast as possible before our fairy tale came to an end. this was truly a special weekend. Gerry and Jann are very thoughtful hosts, full of energy and enthusiasm...guaranteeing that every guest will have a very unique, fulfilling experience. i have told nearly every person i know about this treasure of a place... many thanks for and extraordinary adventure.

Owner response:...and many thanks to you for your sweet, sweet words!! you've made our day.... ...WE were the ones who were enriched by your visit and your stories...and can't wait for your next 'chapters'!! thank you SO much! j

January at Forth Vineyards, One-of-a-kind

Guest: B and D (Philadelphia)
Date of Stay: 01/01/11 Review Submitted: 02/02/11

My wife and I stayed here January 1-4 and had a fantastic time. It was an incredibly special time to be up in Healdsburg; following the holiday rush and during the down season, we virtually had the place to ourselves. Complementing the quiet time was our stay at Forth Vineyards. The pictures provided exemplify the suite, but don't truly do it justice. The studio is on the second floor of a remodeled farm building nestled on a hill. Out the front porch are cab vines, and out the back, acres of pinot! In the morning there was mist surrounding the place, but as you sluggishly awake the skies clear, as if perfectly timed for your day of wine tasting. The suite itself was ideal for a couple looking for a romantic time away from home and it has everything you need. The kitchenette is stocked with fresh coffee, tea, and wine. The bathroom is perfectly remodeled down to the subway tiles and rain shower head, with robes, lotion, soap, and towels. The bed is massive and comfortable, and combined with the bedside stove, it was a pleasant challenge getting up. Its clean and well appointed, not kitschy. The location is impeccable, just a 5-8 minute drive from downtown Healdsburg. It is in the famous Dry Creek area, but Russian River and Alexander Valley are accessible within minutes as well. In addition, the Forths were wonderful people, as is their working "crew" (the sheep maintain the grass around the vines and helplessly happy guard dogs monitor the land). Our final morning there Jann provided a tasting on a stone deck overlooking their property, telling stories about the wine, the family, and their journey to Healdsburg. She even cooked us little cheese muffins, which we devoured as we went through a few bottles of great wine. We will definitely return and we encourage others to visit!

Owner response:Thank you for your lovely words! We loved having you stay and look forward to seeing you both again!

Wonderfully Relaxing and Charming!

We had an amazing stay at Forth Vineyards for three nights the week of Thanksgiving. We arrived in the dark so we couldn't see much, but we woke up the next day to beautiful vineyards and scenery. The Forths were marvelous hosts and all kinds of amenities were provided for us in the guest house. All throughout the booking, Jann was communicative, extremely helpful, and responded to my e-mails promptly. We loved the location. It was very easy to get between town and a variety of wineries and vineyards. The accommodations were very comfortable. Having a cup of coffee or a glass of wine by the gas fireplace was the essence of vacation! I would certainly stay here again and would recommend it for anyone who is looking to get away but still be convenient to Healdsburg and other attractions.

Owner response:thank you so much! It was a delight to have you stay and hope that you'll come and see us again!

A Welcome Retreat

Date of Stay: 10/13/10 Review Submitted: 10/19/10

We stayed for 4 nights, and wished we could stay for many more! The Forths have provided a perfectly relaxing get-away. As hosts, they were welcoming and gracious and as wine makers, they were also wonderful and very willing to share their story as well as the ins-n-outs of their winery operation. The room is quaint and comfortable and has plenty of room for two, and is located close enough to enjoy all the charms the Sonoma valley has to offer. The resident pets help to make it truly feel like a home away from home. They're all well-behaved and trained to not come "visiting". (I know, because I tried to invite them in...) :) We can't imagine staying anywhere else now. Thank you for a perfect anniversary vacation!. Michele & Tom

Kind of a hide-away of sorts. A wonderful small vineyard setting. Jann and Gerry are as available as you want them to be. Our room above the garage was very comfortable with a terrific bottle of their Syrah on the table when we arrived. The large bed is also very comfortable. We opened the windows for a cross breeze full of sweet grape aromas from the surrounding vineyards. The animals are great fun also. Roosters crowing in the morning!

Owner response:thank you...thank you!! so happy you enjoyed your stay!

What can we say...we didn't want to leave the Forth Vineyards at the end of our stay - the vineyard views, the beautiful cottage, the perfumed air, the sheets, the undisturbed restful sleep, the pears and figs, the WINE!!! and last but definitely not least Jann and Gerry. We had the most wonderful time. Can't wait to clear the time to get back. Thank you sooooooo much.

Absolutely Lovely Wine Country Cottage

Guest: Jay & Jill (Denver, Colorado)
Date of Stay: 09/04/10 Review Submitted: 09/11/10

This cottage offers the quintessential Sonoma wine country experience. You are close enough to the charming Healdsburg town square to be convenient but far enough away to decompress. The cottage is romantic and spotless with a comfy king bed snuggled in sumptuous linens, spectacular views of wine groves, spa-like bathroom and cozy kitchenette perfect for an intimate nosh. The hosts are so friendly and accommodating -- they are truly invested in making you feel welcome and relaxed. We rented bicycles in town and challenged ourselves to wind up the quaint sunlight dappled road (not for beginners!). We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Owner response:Such lovely words, Jill & Jay! Thank you so much! We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to having you back again!

Staying at Forth Vineyard: Great way to experience wine country

Guest: Kim (New Jersey)

I stayed in Jann and Gerry's guest house over the summer and it was truly a highlight of my trip. The guest house made me feel as if I truly was a part of wine country as opposed to staying in an area hotel. The atmosphere is perfect - definitely the way to go if you are planning a visit to Healdsburg. Looking forward to going back!

Best place to stay in Sonoma Valley

Guest: Jenn (Denver, CO)
Date of Stay: 08/20/10 Review Submitted: 08/30/10

My husband I just spend three nights on the Forth Vineyard and LOVED every minute of it. If you are planning a trip to Sonoma Valley this is the only place to stay. The location was ideal for accessing the whole area and the quaint town of Healdsburg. Jann greeted us with a warm hug (like she was a long lost relative) and a bottle of their very own wine. The setting is so incredibly picturesque. The back door of the guest house opens right up to the vineyard. The actual accomodation was extremly delightful. We were greeted by the most beautiful bouquet of sunflowers when we entered the studio! The king size bed was truly to die for. We slept in until 10 or 11 o'clock every morning and it was wonderful. The linens are like no other. We were able to make a small breakfast and coffee in the kitchenette area and enjoy our mornings. We loved our private wine tasting with Jerry and hearing all about their vineyard. Loved the "All Boys" Cab! I honestly cannot say enough good things about our stay. I will send all my friends and family there who are heading that way. You could not have an experience like this in any hotel. Book your best vacation now! Sincerely, Jennifer

Owner response:Jenn, you've made our day with your kind words...(if smiles made a sound, you'd be able to hear us right now!) We are so glad that you enjoyed your time in the vineyard and can't wait for your next visit!

My boyfriend and I were in the area for a wedding and stayed at this great place for 3 nights. The studio was more than we possibly imagined...bright, very clean, comfortable bed, dark sky, great art work and an overall relaxing, beautiful space. Each morning we walked the trails next to the vineyards and enjoyed the amazing views. The owners are so kind and were very helpful in recommending places to eat or things to do in the area. Restaurants and wineries are within biking or driving distance. I highly recommend this studio to any couple traveling to wine country who would like to get a taste of life on a winery and within a vineyard. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Owner response:thank you SO much, Rebecca! ...would love to have you return for another stay!

Perfect vacation!

Date of Stay: 07/22/10 Review Submitted: 08/04/10

My husband and I recently spent a week visiting wine country, and loved every minute of our stay here. The cottage is cozy, and provided for a tranquil stay. Open windows and a fresh bouquet of flowers greeted us upon arrival. The studio is true to the description written in the listing. Lovely artwork is hung upon the walls, and the bed is soft and made for a great nights slumber. The bathroom was spacious and had fresh towels and robes ready for our use! The kitchenette contained a coffee maker, and we loved having our breakfast with a cup while enjoying the view. We would jog through the property early mornings, and it was so peaceful. There is a great trail to follow. We also enjoyed our patio tasting of Forth vineyard’s wonderful wine. Overlooking the vineyard while watching the chicken and sheep, we would relax on the patio after an afternoon of fun. Jann and Gerry are wonderful host, and they have great recommendations on wineries and what to do in nearby Healdsburg. We are so pleased with our stay, and will definitely be back in the future!

Owner response:Thank you for your lovely words, Ashley & Brian! We loved having you stay and look forward to another visit! j

Working Winery Wonderland

Guest: Brendan & Stefanie (Anchorage, Alaska)
Date of Stay: 07/13/10 Review Submitted: 07/19/10

Conveniently located in the soul of wine country, this lovely property is just minutes away from Healdsburg—a charming community complete with world-class dining, wining, and shopping. The town itself is reminiscent of a Rockwell paining: imagine folks who greet you with friendly “hellos” while you are browsing at a local farmers’ market on a warm Tuesday evening with live music on the Plaza following. To celebrate a job promotion, we traveled to Sonoma County for three glorious days in July 2010. Meticulously maintained, the Forth family’s immaculate studio apartment is true to the listing’s written and photographic description: the rental reflects Jann and Gerry’s keen attention to detail as they anticipate travelers’ every need. The charming décor, the just-picked bouquets of garden flowers, the well-appointed kitchenette and bathroom and the tranquility of the grape vines rustling all add to the peaceful ambience. As impressive as the property are its owners: Jann and Gerry are passionate about wine making and organic land stewardship and it shows in their excellent product. Do take the time to have a private tasting on the Forth’s patio overlooking the productive vines and tour the vineyard itself and meet the creatures, both great and small, that assist with winery chores such as the baby doll sheep and the chickens. The Forths are incredibly knowledgeable about grape farming practices and it is truly amazing that just two people produce over 2,400 cases of wine annually. Besides this, the Forths’ hospitality is generously thoughtful and sincere. They offer great suggestions for things to do, places to go, and must-not-miss eateries. The binder of information in the apartment is particularly helpful with maps, driving route tips, and favorites (Bovolo’s for yummy gelato; Downtown Bakery for scrumptious sticky buns; Armstrong Reserve for glorious Redwoods; Cassandra for an in-room massage--we agree on all fronts). Plus, if you need a blanket for a picnic dinner or a chair to enjoy the music in the Plaza, they happily provide. We enthusiastically recommend this property and we definitely will be returning.

Wonderful getaway

Guest: Ariel (Ghost Lake (Calgary), Alberta, Canada)
Date of Stay: 06/24/10 Review Submitted: 08/15/10

We stayed at Forth Vineyard for six nights while in the area to go to a wedding and visit family. The studio is lovely and more spacious than the pictures suggest. We even had our two young children with us -- one in a pup tent, the other in a playard. That made it a bit tight, but it was still manageable, and we really appreciate that Jann and Gerry were not only willing to let us stay with the kids, but welcoming. It was a treat to stay in a more elegant-modern-rustic, romantic place with children. And it really is the perfect place for a romantic getaway. I look forward to returning sans kids (in about fifteen years). Jann and Gerry are available, but never intrusive. Jann was so accommodating about everything -- sending us local information via email and helping us to identify childcare. We didn't have a chance for a wine tasting, but we brought some of their wine home and loved it. The studio feels like a private hideaway, yet is quite close to Healdsburg and all the vineyards. We would stay there again.

Owner response:What sweet words, Ariel! We loved having you stay and will look forward to seeing you again...hopefully well before 15 years have passed!

An amazing life experience....

Date of Stay: 06/19/10 Review Submitted: 07/04/11

We spent a romantic, fabulous, serene five days there. The studio apartment was charming, filled with everything you could need. A small refrigerator enabled us to store the fresh fruit we bought from the farmer's market and the delicious cheeses we pared with our wine. To drink our coffee in the morning and wine in the evening while gazing at the vineyards, watching the sheep and the chickens while scratching their sweet dog's ears was incredibly peaceful. Jann and Gerry were always ready to give advice to our plans for the day and made us so welcome, like family. Their farm was absolutely gorgeous and gave us a rare and wonderful opportunity to feel of what it is like to live surrounded by all that beauty! It was a trip we will never forget....

Fabulous weekend in the wine country

Guest: Kevin (Prescott, AZ)
Date of Stay: 04/17/10 Review Submitted: 07/13/10

My wife and I spent our anniversary weekend at this charming and peaceful place nestled in the vineyards. We felt as if we were at a chalet. The accommodation was everything the listing said it was and the pictures depicted, and the bed was very comfortable. If privacy and peace and quiet are what you want, this is the place. If you like to walk, there's ample opportunity to do that. The dogs, cats, chickens, and sheep added even more charm in this setting. And, you are in one of the most famous wine areas in Sonoma County. Owners Jann & Gerry were most helpful in suggesting nearby restaurants for lunch and dinner and provided recommendations of wineries to visit. The gracious hosts even spent time with us Sunday afternoon sampling their wonderful wines. I very much look forward to our next visit and would highly recommend the property.

Owner response:Thanks so much! The pleasure of your visit was ours and we look forward to your return! Cheers! j & g

...location, views, wine, bed, and of course the most perfect hosts. We stayed here for Barrel Tasting 2010 and could not have asked for a better stay. We awoke each morning (late because the bed is so comfy) to the sounds, sights and smells of the beautiful vineyards and were quickly reminded that this is how a vacation should feel. Jann and Gerry were so helpful both before our trip and during it and there is no doubt they made our entire vacation more enjoyable. The rental is close enough to experience a lot of what the area has to offer, but far enough away that truly escaping was not a problem. We will without a doubt return! Thank you thank you thank you! Super Cozy and Great Wine Too!

Guest: TammyC (Littleton, Colorado)
Date of Stay: 01/07/10 Review Submitted: 06/13/10

We stayed in this apartment for 3 nights in January, 2010 and had the most relaxing time! The apartment is super cozy and ultra quiet with lots of little luxuries, especially the linens! The listing and pictures are accurate. The apartment is located next to the vineyard over the barn (garage) which makes for terrific views and except for the winemaker's home next door, there is not another home in sight. The apartment was super clean and the kitchenette allowed for light meals prepared for breakfast and snacks. Jann and Gerry are super and provided the most terrific referrals for both boutique wineries in the area and restaurants. We would definitely suggest Costeaux French Bakery, the Dry Creek General Store for sandwiches, Bistro Ralph and Zin (try the fried green beans!). We scheduled a tasting with Jann and Gerry on our last day. The wines were terrific and highly recommended! Love that they are organic too! We will definitely be back! This was our favorite trip to the area yet!

Owner response:Thank you for your lovely words! We hope you'll be back for another visit soon! Cheers!
