Why the Owner Chose Pemaquid
The house you are staying in (and the barn) were built around 1895. During the 1930's it served as the local Post Office. We have completely restored and updated the house. The back deck and bedrooms offer spectacular views up the Pemaquid River toward the harbor. The house sits on approximately 5 acres of land on the Pemaquid River which is a tidal salt water river.
The Unique Benefits at this House
There is a great, private deck off of the rear of the house that provides spectacular water views. This is a perfect location if you want an active vacation or just chill out with a good book and glass of wine. You can fish for stripped bass and bluefish from the property, launch a kayak for a day exploring the Pemaquid River, Pemaquid Harbor and on into Johns Bay. Have a family picnic by the water or a tee ball game in our spacious back yard. Two of the bedrooms (including the master) have water views and the master is en suite.
Northern most sand beach in Maine. It is sheltered water, so it is great for small children
Great place to walk the "loop" which is 1 mile around. Also a great place to watch the sunset or the waves crashing onto the rocks.
This is a lighthouse featured on the Maine quarter. Also stop in at the Seagull next door for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It is byob, has spectacular views of the ocean and Monhegan Island
Great place for lobster, clams or fried seafood. They also have non fish items on menu. looks out onto Pemaquid Harbor and John's Island. Byob.
Another great place for lobster, clams, local oysters and mussels. Sits on Round Pond harbor. Byob.
Full service restaurant and bar. Great if you tire of lobster or the poor weather
Good for papers, beer, wine and groceries. Get there early in the morning for their hot home made donuts.
Shaws is a seafood restaurant serving lobster, steamers, fried and broiled seafood and land lover food. They have a full service bar. You can eat inside or out on their decks that overlook New Harbor
They provide guided kayak trips. If you have never kayaked would recommend you do a tour with them. They do half and full day tours. They will rent kayaks. Midcoast Kayak in downtown.
Owner's Map of Pemaquid
We purchased this property in 2005 while living in London. My wife's family have owned property on Pemaquid Point for over a 100 years. We have vacationed in Pemaquid for the past 30 years and absolutely love the area. It has not been spoiled by development. It is a relaxed environment. When we decided to buy we wanted property with not just a beautiful water view, but with access to the water for kayaking, fishing, and swimming. The old Poole Farm was perfect.
