WOW! This house simply cannot be beat for a family getaway! Plenty of big, open, airy space for everyone to be together, yet full of private areas in which to enjoy a book, a private conversation or the morning sun. The master bed/bath is resort-like. And the sound system, well, if you enjoy music, this is your place.

We rented this wonderful comtemporary house for a family reunion. It was perfect. The grandchildren all slept in the loft, much to their delight. Access to the private beach allowed us to have a bonfire one night, again a huge hit with the grandchildren. The kitchen and dining area were well equipped which was fabulous for a large crowd. We would definitely rent it again.

My wife and I have enjoyed staying at this lovely, comfortable home. It is spacious and still intimate. The whole setting is very romantic, outdoors and indoors. There's plenty of room for a family or friends to be together or go off for separate activities. We loved it!!

We are from Evanston and this is a perfect distance for a getaway week or more. Once there, this home offers quite a bit in the way of comfort, space, privacy, shade, sun and a wonderful time with plenty of room for friends and/or family. Neighboring towns are fun to explore and the beach is close by. Not just for Summer as all seasons are beautiful there. We have been there several times and plan to return. LE

A+ There are no words to do this magnificent home justice. It's not just a veritable wonderland, but it is cozy, highly functional and visually stellar. I've had the good fortune to spend many long weekends there; it's a treasured part of my family's memories.

I agree with all the guest comments and would add that this house---really a compound with the guest house--is truly magnificent. It is a wonderful woodland retreat, yet good restaurants and acitvities are nearby--the best of both worlds. The house is stunning. It brings the outside in and has so much unique space that each person can find their own special niche to read that special book, do that crossword puzzle, listen to music or just contemplate nature. Lots of space outdoors to explore or even play hide-and-seek. The house easliy accomodates a large group but feels really cozy for a few people as well. Come. Enjoy. You too will fall in love.

I've stayed here several times and feel it is a great refuge from the big city. The first time I drove up there was a garter snake crossing the driveway and it was the perfect foreshadowning of the taste of nature with modern creature comforts that this place offers. I slept in the screened porch and felt like I was camping in the woods. The beach is a short drive away and you can even surf there if the wind is blowing South. Bike riding is fun and there is a ton to explore nearby. The place is well maintained and very comfy.

We have stayed at this extraordinary home a number of times, and it is always a delight in so many ways -- the beauty of the natural setting, the lovliness of the home's interior, the comfort and ease of being there in addition to the great things to do nearby. It's truly the greatest of getaway places!

This house is a terrific place to spend time with friends and family! It's comfortable, cozy (even though it's very spacious and airy), user friendly, quiet, peaceful, beautiful... house. I could go on and on. OK if you insist. I've spent many weekends there with a friend, with many friends, and with family and it's really just a wonderful easy place to get away. If you like to cook, it's great for cooking and entertaining, if you like to lounge around and read by the fire it's perfect for that, if you like to be outdoors, it's great for sunning, biking, walking etc. The master bath has a relaxing giant jacuzzi, the screen porch is outside but closed off to bugs, etc, the whole house has music, there's a great space for yoga upstairs. It's just really got everything you want. I highly recommend this place as a convenient, delightful place to go, and it's only an hour and a half from Chicago. Have fun!

My husband and I rented this house for one week and found it and its setting to be very private and beautiful. The house is lovely and comfortable, outfitted with anything you could want; but it is in the gorgeous lawn, surrounding meadow and private woods ringing the property that it really sings. nearby is a woods with old-growth trees and hiking trails, It has all the wonderful things to do in SW Michigan and a personal getaway, to boot! The views from every room are spectacular and it is an easy commute for guests to drive up or train up from Chicago for just a night. We were there in the summer but I bet it's wonderful in the winter as well with the woods providing privacy and nearby cross-country skiing.

We stayed a weekend as guests of the owners. It is unique in its design, being architecturally unusual in its quiet beauty and in its extreme privacy. The home is set far from the road (the pictures fail to show off the late summer wildflowers that blanket the front) and the interior spaces are quite pleasing and private from one another. I think the word that best describes the home is "restful". Of course, we wandered the area, had a fine time and would heartily recommend this experience for those wishing to avoid crowds and yet stay in a quite contemporary setting.
