Location: Lake Almanor, Shasta Cascade, California, USA (We Are Located 120 Mi. 2 Hours Northwest of Reno, NV) View Map
Accommodations: House, 6 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 9 Baths (Sleeps 14-16)
Situated on the east shore of Lake Almanor, with its spectacular view of the lake and Mt. Lassen, this 10,700 square foot home on over three acres is the quintessential lakeside retreat.
The beautiful Arts & Crafts style home welcomes you as you enter from the circular drive through the stunning, leaded glass doors into the spacious interior.
Once inside, you will pass through the foyer into the soaring great room with its gleaming hickory floors, cathedral ceiling, richly colored area rugs, and the lavish wet bar.
Straight ahead is a wall of windows and French doors overlooking the lake and mountains and opening to the large flagstone patio and dock access. The opposite end of the room boasts an oversize wood-burning fireplace.
On either side of the great room are the dining room, with seating for 18, and the game room equipped with pool table, pinball machine, shuffleboard table, fireplace, and double-stall powder room.
There is a total of six bedrooms. Five guest suites, each named after a personality from California’s history, occupy the wing on one side of the great room, and the master suite resides in the wing on the other.
The guest suites are decorated in styles indicative of their namesakes. The master suite is decorated in an inviting eclectic style. Each bedroom suite has its own bathroom, remote-controlled gas fireplace, and sitting area, plus access to either an outdoor balcony or its own small patio just steps from the lake.
The master suite has private access to outside via an exterior stairs in addition to its balcony. One guest suite, directly accessible from the elevator, is designed for handicap access and has a large walk-in shower and single sink to accommodate a wheel chair.
The five other en suite bathrooms feature double sinks, walk-in showers, and jetted tubs. An intercom system throughout the whole house makes communication easy – especially at mealtimes.
The large, double kitchen easily accommodates two cooks with its two Wolf ranges, four convection ovens, two warming drawers, two microwaves, two full-size Sub-zero refrigerator units, a large sink, a small sink (in the island), and one of two Bosch dishwashers.
The generous island has maple butcher-block and granite counter tops. One end of the island has overhangs to accommodate two stools. Groceries and other supplies can be stored in the pantry’s abundant storage.
Two full-size Sub-zero freezers, a large sink, and the other Bosch dishwasher are situated here, also. Located behind the kitchen is a small sitting area, small office, shelving for cookbooks, and a mud room with a toilet.
In the wooded grounds, you will find strolling paths, resting areas, and colorful flower beds. Try to set aside some time to enjoy the shelter of the trees and the variety of wildlife the area offers, including owls, osprey, eagles, water fowl, deer, and many other species.

Why the Owner Chose Lake Almanor
It's a dream home but still close to a major airport (Reno, NV) and other cities in northern California. It has the serenity I sought and the people are wonderful. I love having four seasons that are truly seasons -- not just some bobble in the thermometer. The winters are real winters but not unbearably long. Spring and fall are spectacular. Because of our altitude (4,500 ft.), we experience a fairly dry heat in the summer -- much nicer than the humid Sacramento valley below.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Being on a lake in the Sierra-Cascades is the BEST! I love strolling through the trees, watching the various birds and other wildlife, learning about the wildflowers and other indigenous plants and taking my coffee out on the deck in the morning while all is serene. All I need do is step out my door, walk down a few steps, and I'm on the shore -- what could be better?
Owner's Map of Lake Almanor
I've always loved the mountains and forests. Also, some of my best childhood vacations were visiting my aunt's lake cottage in northern Wisconsin. Having a house both in the mountains and on the lake is a dream come true.

Oh my Gosh!! Had an awsome relaxing stay. The place is gorgeous, spacious and definitely clean. Looks just like the pictures show. We have stayed at many different places around the lake area. This was by far the best. The staff take great pride in making sure the place is well maintained and clean. We will definitely be coming back. Thanks for a great stay.

Dear Rick and Jody, We had an amazing time at the Almanor House. Awesome!!!!! Our family was able to bond in a way that we never have before. Our times together are usually at our home which is small with 2100 square feet, and our large family. This is the first time that we looked into renting a place for our vacation time together. The Almanor House was perfect, and we appreciate you for allowing us to come with all our family. It was a memorable time for us all.

This place is awesome. A deffinate FIVE star. Almost every window in the house has a view of the lake and Mt. Lassen. The house is so relaxing and enjoyable we never wanted to leave. We have spent time in other places throughout California but this is by far the best we have been. I think we will make this our new annual family tradition. Thank you Almanor R&R
