This 1400 square foot, lakefront cottage was completely renovated in April '09. It is lovingly decorated with warm colors and tastefully selected furnishings. The cottage is completely furnished, from high end art on the walls, to quality bedding and bath linens. Every detail has been taken care of just for you! All you have to remember is your bathing suit, personal amenities, and food!
The large picture window in the living room overlooks beautiful Lake Mitchell. The living room showcases a floor to ceiling, wood-burning, brick fireplace. All new furniture in neutral fabrics featuring a sleek leather club chair and matching couch, as well as gorgeous, handwoven seagrass chairs in the sunroom. Colorful pillow accents exemplify a tasteful and uniquely fresh decor. The living room also hosts a 42" flat screen High Definition television with surround sound, DVD player and premium cable channels. Free Wi-Fi internet is available throughout the cottage.
A separate dining room seats up to 8 people and is directly adjacent to an efficiently stocked kitchen featuring all new stainless steel appliances. Two beautifully decorated master bedrooms offer queen-sized beds with luxurious bedding. The two remaining bedrooms feature bunk beds for a true cottage feel. The sunroom in the front of the cottage displays a full wall of windows with expansive, unobstructed lake views. There is nothing but lawn between you and the shoreline! The sunroom also features two full-size day bed futons, each sleeping up to two adults. Catch a Michigan sunrise via the sunroom while enjoying your morning coffee. The front hall bathroom offers a gleaming subway tiled tub and shower, and the back bathroom features a standing shower. Each bath is fully stocked with quality linens, including beach towels for your convenience.
Savor your meals al fresco via the lakeside deck furnished with tasteful patio furniture and a gas grill. An eight person hot tub is located directly off the front deck. Let the kids bounce away on the water trampoline, or play in the fenced in backyard as you relax the end of another beautiful vacation day away in the hot tub, or hammock. Lake Mitchell is 2580 acres in size and is connected to Lake Cadillac by a navigable canal, combining over 3700 acres of all-sports water fun! Many casual restaurants and eateries shore up to both lakes, offering docking for dining and/or drinks. Ice cream shops, party stores, and gas docks are also directly available by watercraft.
You will be surrounded by the Manistee National Forest boasting six-hundred thousand acres of pristine wooded wonderland! The Big Manistee, Little Manistee and Pine River (the fastest moving river in Michigan) are only minutes away. Fish the Tippy Dam, providing world class salmon, steelhead and trout opportunities. On a larger scale, the dunes of Lake Michigan located in Manistee are just a short drive away.
Winter activities abound! Snowmobile trails are accessible right from the front yard. Access these trails from Lake Mitchell, and you can sled directly onto the Lake from the front of the cottage. Downhill skiing at Caberfae is 15 minutes away, and Crystal is 35 minutes from the cottage. Cross Country ski in the surrounding woods or directly onto the lake. Excellent ice fishing can be had right in front of the cottage. Or, simply sit back and enjoy the quiet over a cup of hot chocolate and a crackling fire from your cozy abode!

An historic canal, approximately one third of a mile in length, connects the two lakes and runs directly through the park. Carl T. Johnson Hunting and Fishing Center on the North side of the canal and William Mitchell State Park boasting 334 acres is on the South side of the Canal.
The 2.5-mile (4.0 km) Heritage Nature Trail begins at the Hunting and Fishing Center and runs through a woodland and marsh environment. The nature trail is a study area which supports a variety of plants and wildlife. The trail, mostly a wood chip path with a series of bridges and boardwalks, provides a pleasant hike around scenic wetland areas.

I had 8 adults stay at this home and they were thrilled not only with the scenic view of the waterfront, but the modern decor of the home. It was immaculate and well stocked. The location is perfect and truly the waterfront experience was also breathtaking. Though this was clearly once a cottage, one feels that this is a home. The floor plan is well used with some rooms having bunkbeds and some having queens.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

The cabin "boathouse" was all it was advertised to be. It is very well equipped with modern appliances and furniture. The bedrooms were all as described and the pictures are accurate. It slept the amount of people that it advertised it to sleep. It was very clean and all bedding and towels were there for us. We washed towels as we used them and found we needed for nothing other than the food and clothing we brought in. A maintenance man was needed to blow up the trampoline and he came the same day. We would use the cabin again.

The cottage is very clean and neat...it looks just like the pictures in the listing. We cooked all our meals at the cottage. Every night we gathered around the fire pit. The lake was beautiful and provided a weeks worth of entertainment for everyone in our large group. We went fishing, tubing, and boating. The kids loved the rec room. It provided lots of entertainment, plus the extra space we needed for sleeping arrangements. I would definitely recommend this cottage!

The house was very nice. The extra for the rec room was not exactly in the condtion is was proclaimed to be. The sauna didn't work, the dart board was practically up to the ceiling and very difficult to use, the foosball didn't have all it's parts, the knobs were broken on the flippable air hockey table and the pieces of outdoor carpeting were in pieces all over the floor so that you tripped over them all the time. In all , I think the place is overpriced is you add any extras to it. t

We were surprised to read your review as our maintenance man, Jeff, visited twice during your stay due to the holes your grandchildren created in the water trampoline on two separate occasions. Your concerns with the rec room were not conveyed to us during your stay, or to even to Jeff during his two maintenance visits. We would have appreciated the opportunity to address your concerns at that time. Notably, the renters after your stay didn't mention issues with the rec room's carpeting, the sauna, Foosball or air hockey table. We strive to provide the best vacation possible for our renters and have had only positive verbal communication with other renters. We do wish you the best in your future rentals!
