Clarify Rates:
You may hold dates if 90 days in advance or more with only a $500 deposit. If within 90 days full payment is due to secure reservation (exception Christmas and New Year Weeks payment due 6 months prior). Cancel prior to 90 days before your dates will only incur a 3% cancellation fee of the deposit amount, so will cost you just $15. Therefore reserving ahead is highly recommended, even a year or so in advance. This not only gets you the dates you want but also locks in the price which as you can tell from my calendar with demand so high, it is very likely rates may go up. There are very few homes with a pool and other comparable amenities for rent in Tahoe and ALL that I have found have rental costs considerably higher then my home.
All details will be emailed to you in my standard contract once you've chosen dates, and will clearly state all policies and fees. You are still under no obligation, nor am I, until you return it signed and complete whatever payment is due. Ask me Anything at all.
House History: Well people ask so here is. House built in 2000 and designed as a luxury vacation rental with amenities like no other. The designer had it right because what sets this house aside from so many other choices are the unique amenities. I bought the house in 2004 and still had guests on the calendar so I gave it a try. The house has always rented more often, far above other houses. When I decided to no longer use a management agency in late 2007 I forwarded the savings on to the guests. The house has since booked much more often than ever despite the economy. Everyone Loves the home, thousands of guests have stayed here! Pricing compares to houses similar in size but without the amenities. So why stay in just any house when you can stay in a 'Castle'? My best deals are if last minute, meaning within 7 days, when if you do not see dates booked then I will discount and make you a great deal! These deals are rare though so if you want your choice of dates plan well ahead. Always just ask me anything.
Availability Calendar: I don't know why but this website chooses to display confusing angle shaded calendar dates that make it difficult to know if some nights are rented or not. Easiest thing to do is simply contact me and I'll always make everything perfectly clear, don't be shy.
All terms stated in rental contract supercede any terms from anything stated elsewhere. Websites limit my input.

Kids loved it, grandparents loved it, husband and I loved it. We travel often and I've been all over the globe and have never found any home so filled with amenities. You float in the pool at night with waterfall on and fireplace and your favorite music, plus they have some special fiber lighting. It was absolute heaven! My only comment was his ad needs better pictures and Dan said he's working on that. We will be back for certain.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

Well as the kids say, it was awesome! The photos here are not enough to see the home is even better than what we expected, much larger. Everone spread out and found something to enjoy and that was 12 people. We all had a great time and really liked this time of year in Tahoe with fewer tourists and beautiful weather. We'll never forget what a wonderful time we had at the Tahoe Castle. We all loved the pool and the steam room was great for the dry Tahoe air. First time to Tahoe and super wow I think we hit it big with this home. All sorts of neat things to do and enjoy. Kids were in the pool and having so much fun that when we went out they kept wanting to go "home" to swim more. Well I highly recommend this castle for enjoying Lake Tahoe. Everybody went crazy over the pool, we had some days too tired to hit the slopes and wow how cool to have a swim day. The air in Tahoe is very dry too so we liked the steam room. Wow what a house! This has it all with the warm indoor pool jacuzzi and steam and sauna and pool table. I can't think of anything else you need...well ok...beer! Seriously this is the best house I've ever rented and I have been all over the globe. Dan who runs the place was helpful and very professional; he's been at this a while. Hey one tip plan ahead, I missed the house last year but will plan this coming winter well in advance. Before someone reads this review and gets my dates!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

Everything was wonderful, We enjoyed our relaxing getaway, at the Castle. We stayed at the Tahoe Castle on our Christmas Vacation and loved this house! Lake Tahoe was absolutely stunning in Winter as it were but to come "home" from a long day of skiing and unwind in the steam room, pool and spa was perfect. We had so many pictures of the house but somehow all our vacation pics got deleted, and too bad because we had some really great ones. As a cook I personally enjoyed the large gas stove and easy access kitchen for all the ladies to gossip while the men played pool in the loft. One issue though, after you get home expect a lot of nagging from the kids "Mom when are we getting a pool inside" :)Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

We all love visiting Tahoe in the Summer or Winter and this last visit was all the more special while staying at the "Castle". The pool and steam and sauna were all so relaxing and rejuvenating. This home is quiet and private and really has the feel of Tahoe. This was a vacation within a vacation. I recommend you reserve ahead, I know this last Summer rented almost every day.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

My family and friends have been traveling to Lake Tahoe now for 30 years and have stayed in nice homes and not so nice homes. This one gets our highest rating. Everyone had a great time and the amenities really set this home apart from the rest. Also to note that Dan is a great guy to rent from, very helpful and friendly. About the owner: I'm semi-retired and manage this home all myself. I'm devoted to my guests and pay attention to detail. I understand your vacation time is valuable and memories made with family and friends are precious. I'm happy and proud to have enabled many hundreds of folks to enjoy 'The Castle' for years now and look forward to many more.
Why the Owner Chose Pioneer Trail:
Well the only other homes I have found with an indoor private pool and comparable amenities have been priced quite a bit higher. I know that management expense adds to the price. Since I do it all I keep the prices at a very fair value. One can expect to pay the same for a lot of homes of similar size...but without a pool, steam and sauna. So why stay in a regular house when you can enjoy a Castle?!
