Cedar Beach is nestled in a south facing cove on Thetis island. This is one of the Pacific Gulf islands off Vancouver, famous for their Mediterranean climate, marine ecosystem, and unspoiled beauty. Naturalists, adventurers or those seeking peace and relaxation feel especially at home here.
Thetis Island is a local secret, a maritime hideaway in pristine condition, flavored with old world charm. A small marina, a couple of restaurants, a shop, and several cottage industries are the only signs of development here. A 30 minute, regular ferry boat to Chemainus and a direct seaplane service to Vancouver make Thetis an ideal base to explore the culture, ocean, and wilderness along the Canadian Pacific West Coast.
Cedar Beach consists of three acres of landscaped gardens with own beach, concealed by groves of cedar and fir trees. Abundant apples, pears, grapes, and figs are a testament to hot, sunny summers. On a hot day, dive into the crystal clear ocean waters from the beach, or simply dream under the shade of a red cedar tree. The sea view towards uninhabited islets is panoramic. The quiet and observant may spot the local river otters or seals playing off the quay whilst contemplating a red dawn sitting on the rocks off the point. Evenings can be enjoyed in style, sipping drinks in the hot tub at the quay, gazing at stars then plunging into the ocean for a brisk refresher!
There’s plenty to do for the active. Sea kayaking to remote uninhabited islands searching for otter, seal, whale, or bald eagle. These are also good waters for swimming, diving, sailing, and fishing. Kayaks, cycles, and table tennis are available to our guests free of charge. Cultural tours wine tasting at Duncan, visiting artists studios or Indian villages as well as to beautiful Victoria or multi-cultural Vancouver are all short day trips.
There are two homes on the property: "Cedar Beach House" and "Cedar Beach Cottage". Cedar Beach House has three bedrooms for groups of up to eight. Cedar Beach Cottage has one bedroom and sleeps up to three. The house and cottage are in different parts of the garden ensuring good privacy.
