Built in 1933 and totally updated while maintaining its original charm is what sold us on this lovely home filled with character and taste. All rooms have been professionally decorated and offer warmth and comfort.

The location is ideal because it is about 5 city blocks from the waterfront where there is constant activity. This allows our guests to walk to downtown, not have to worry about parking (as this is at a premium and hard to find in the spring, summer and early fall) and return to the peace and quiet of the Kay Katherine area of town. The home is also walking distance to the public beach, about a 10 minute walk. If you do want to drive, this home allows you to park your car(S) in the garage or the 4 car driveway. Again, if you are entertaining guests or have more than one car in your party, there is plenty of off street parking.

Inside the home offers a luxury kitchen with maple cabinets, granite counter tops, stainless steel refrigerator with ice maker, wine cooler, and stainless steel dishwasher. The master bedroom has a glass enclosed shower, ceramic tile floor, granite counter top sink console. 4 bedrooms on the second floor sleep 9 people comfortably. The third floor sleeps 1-2 people and has a new Victorian style full bath with claw foot tub. VERY FUN!!! The back yard is enclosed by a fence and has a wood deck with dining table and chairs. My favorite room of the entire house, however, is the sun room, off the formal living room. This is decorated in a French style and is a great room for having your morning coffee/tea!! Home sleeps 10-11 comfortably!!

I am a Real Estate agent and my husband is a Beneteau Sailboat dealer, so what better place to offer a home to our guests than in Newport Rhode Island,sailing mecca of the Northeast and home to America's first summer cottages (The Breakers,Rosecliff,etc are just some of the summer cottages not to be missed,home to the Vanderbilts etc)

Why the Owner Chose Newport

home is only 3hours from NYC by car and same by Amtrak. It is a very easy commute for a weekend getaway and offers great restaurants, fabulous shopping,spectacular scenery(Ocean Drive), and many attractions, such as sailing,museums,history and beautiful beaches. Everything is pretty much within walking distance, so you never need your car!!It is a great getaway even in the Winter & Fall because there is so much to do!!

The Unique Benefits of this House

The biggest benefit is the location relative to shops,beaches,restaurants and attractions. Most all of these are walking distance.The house has a two car garage and parking for 4 cars in the driveway. This is important since parking is very hard to find in the late spring and summer.Once you arrive you can park in the driveway or garage and walk to most anywhere.It is close enough to walk but far enough so that you don't hear the noise from downtown.Also, the house is totally renovated with 2.5 of the baths being new and it has a gourmet kitchen with granite counter tops,Viking stove, and stainless steel appliances.In the winter you can enjoy the wood burning fireplace and large flat screen TV in the den and formal living room.
