Built in 1933 and totally updated while maintaining its original charm is what sold us on this lovely home filled with character and taste. All rooms have been professionally decorated and offer warmth and comfort.
The location is ideal because it is about 5 city blocks from the waterfront where there is constant activity. This allows our guests to walk to downtown, not have to worry about parking (as this is at a premium and hard to find in the spring, summer and early fall) and return to the peace and quiet of the Kay Katherine area of town. The home is also walking distance to the public beach, about a 10 minute walk. If you do want to drive, this home allows you to park your car(S) in the garage or the 4 car driveway. Again, if you are entertaining guests or have more than one car in your party, there is plenty of off street parking.
Inside the home offers a luxury kitchen with maple cabinets, granite counter tops, stainless steel refrigerator with ice maker, wine cooler, and stainless steel dishwasher. The master bedroom has a glass enclosed shower, ceramic tile floor, granite counter top sink console. 4 bedrooms on the second floor sleep 9 people comfortably. The third floor sleeps 1-2 people and has a new Victorian style full bath with claw foot tub. VERY FUN!!! The back yard is enclosed by a fence and has a wood deck with dining table and chairs. My favorite room of the entire house, however, is the sun room, off the formal living room. This is decorated in a French style and is a great room for having your morning coffee/tea!! Home sleeps 8 to 10 comfortably

Why the Owner Chose Newport
home is only 3hours from NYC by car and same by Amtrak. It is a very easy commute for a weekend getaway and offers great restaurants, fabulous shopping,spectacular scenery(Ocean Drive), and many attractions, such as sailing,museums,history and beautiful beaches. Everything is pretty much within walking distance, so you never need your car!!It is a great getaway even in the Winter & Fall because there is so much to do!!
The Unique Benefits of this House
The biggest benefit is the location relative to shops,beaches,restaurants and attractions. Most all of these are walking distance.The house has a two car garage and parking for 4 cars in the driveway. This is important since parking is very hard to find in the late spring and summer.Once you arrive you can park in the driveway or garage and walk to most anywhere.It is close enough to walk but far enough so that you don't hear the noise from downtown.Also, the house is totally renovated with 2.5 of the baths being new and it has a gourmet kitchen with granite counter tops,Viking stove, and stainless steel appliances.In the winter you can enjoy the wood burning fireplace and large flat screen TV in the den and formal living room.

PERFECT PLACE TO STAY IN NEWPORT! My first stay at this lovely home was with a two other couples. The house fit our needs perfectly as it is in walking distance to restaurants, shops, and nightlife as well as the Cliff Walk. The house was clean and the property well maintained. I returned again on a girls trip and loved that when you walk through the door you feel at home. We had ample parking for all of our cars, we had plenty of space, and we had a great time. The owner was very accessible by phone and pleasant to work with. I would highly recommend this home to anyone who is looking for a relaxing retreat within walking distance to the heart of Newport.
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.

I rented this BEAUTIFUL house for my bacheorette party weekend this past June and loved EVERY minute of it. The house is perfectly located to walk to shops, eateries, etc., a short drive to the beach, or the perfect place to stay inside and catch up with great friends and family. The house interior is right out of a magazine-charming, perfectly kept and well decorated. My two night stay there was not enough as I hope to return to this rental in the future for another girls weekend or a quiet weekend away with my husband.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This house is gorgeous and perfect for large groups. We went up with our family recently and had a blast! The owner was an absolute pleasure to work with and was very accommodating. I'm not sure where the previous review came from but I have to say I couldn't disagree more. The beds were all pillow top mattresses with plush pillows and we had more than enough towels, washcloths, sheets etc for our group of 11 people. They really decorated the house nicely and made it very easy for us to move in and out for the week. The house is walking distance to town (about 10 minutes to Bowen's Warf) and about a 15 minute walk to the beach. It was nice to be so close while not being in the heart of the chaos that is downtown Newport. The one thing I will say is the owner is very concerned about who she rents to so I wouldn't suggest this house to a bachelor party if the group you're with is a rowdy bunch. But once you get to the home you'll understand why they want to make sure their renters are legit. Absolutely loved our stay here and we already booked another the week this year!

There is no doubt this house is beautiful and located within walking distince of downtown Newport. The disappointment was for the price that was paid the amenities fell short. Not enough linens, the linens that were provided were questionable, by no means new, very worn. Granted a washer/dryer is part of the home, but not expected to do laundry on vacation on a daily basis? The owner's answer to most requests was "just buy it & I'll reimburse you." That's not something you want to hear when you are paying the price we were. Also, dealing with the owner was a chore, certain requirements as the renter did not apply when the security deposit was due, a lot of prompting was required for the return of said security deposit. As I said earlier I would recommend the "house" as a good destination, fine tuning by the owner would have made the experience a pleasurable one.
Recommended for:Tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.
