Excellent location off Hwy 89 between Truckee and Lake Tahoe on Squaw Valley Road. Tavern Inn is a 56 unit condominium complex, equipped with a swimming pool, 12 foot diameter spa, 2 saunas, 2 tennis courts, and convenient access to river & bike paths, shuttle to ski area & High Camp with ice skating & swimming are only a 1/2 mile to the Resort at Squaw Creek.
In addition, there are a variety of excellent restaurants within 15 minutes. World class entertainment is regularly featured in the greater Lake Tahoe/Reno area (one hour).
Reno International Airport is 45 miles away and shuttle service is available.
The Squaw Valley Ski Area is truly of world class quality, with expansive slopes, many lifts, ice skating and dining at High Camp. Its variety of runs are frequented by the West’s best skiers.
The “Village" at the base of the ski lifts, features shops, boutiques, children’s activities, and many fine restaurants. Many “Cross–Country” ski parks are within a 15 minute drive. Nearby, the Resort at Squaw Creek is a five star hotel with four restaurants, just a ten minute walk (two minute drive).

My entire family loved this condo. The kitchen and baths are nice and in great shape, and the beds and furniture are very comfortable (I think we each fell asleep on the sofa or chaise at least once). The location can't be beat, either, since it's at the bottom of the road to Squaw, so basically a 5 mins drive to either Squaw Valley or Alpine Meadows. Best of all, the owners are great -- for example, going out of their way to provide a crib since we had a small child in our group.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers.

We were there for 3 nights - Kathy, the owner, has been great to deal with - great communication and super responsive to questions and requests. The condo was immaculate and very well stocked. The beds were comfortable with clean linens, the towels were plentiful and fluffy, shampoo and soap were provided in the condo along with very comfortable furniture and a well stocked kitchen. We've never rented before - but would do so in a heartbeat!
Recommended for:Sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. the condo is just off of 89 when turning into squaw valley, with squaw village just a mile or two down the road. the apartment was just as described, and all dealings with the owner and broker went very smoothly. there was ample space, the kitchen was nicely stocked upon arrival, plenty of linens/towels, everything was clean, etc. we enjoyed the hot tub, just a short walk (over a bit of snow) from the back door of the condo.
Recommended for:Tourists without a car, families with young children.
