Location: Historic, spring-fed Spofford Lake is located 9 miles west of Keene, NH and 7 miles east of Brattleboro, VT, along Rt 9 & Rt 63, in the Monadnock Region. Lake Spofford received the State’s highest rating for clean water in 2005.
Accommodations: Victorian lakefront cottage on the west shore of Lake Spofford with 4 bedrooms and 1 bathroom (sleeps 4-8). The cottage is heated by a woodstove in front of the old brick fireplace. Wonderful views of the lake with spectacular sunrises are obtained from the screened Victorian porch running along the front of the cottage. Pro and amateur photographers are constantly selecting our waterfront area for postcard type shots.
Kitchen w/double sink, dishwasher, electric range, double door refrigerator and microwave. Deck with gas grill located at rear of cottage outside kitchen door.
Bathroom located on ground floor has a shower, sink w/vanity and toilet. Wash machine located in kitchen, dryer in bathroom; plumbing limits wash machine to 2 loads a day. Hot-water heater provides plentiful supply of hot water.
Breakfast nook located between living room and kitchen. Office area w/broadband hookup located in front of bathroom before Dining Area. Staircase to second floor located between breakfast area and office area, behind fireplace.
Large round antique oak dining table located in one side of front room, sofa, chairs and cable TV/DVD player on other side of front room. Fireplace w/woodstove located in center of room.
Double French doors lead on to screened porch in front of cottage.
Porch is furnished with antique rockers and picnic table on one side, white wicker furniture on the other side.
4 bedrooms located upstairs. 1 Queen Select Comfort bed and 3 double beds. All windows are operable with full screens. Lovely downhill cross-breeze from Pinnacle Spring Mountain in back of cottage.
Private, 50 foot beach located in front of cottage. Private dock at beachfront will accommodate motor boat(s) and other craft and a private swimming float is moored offshore. There is a deck on the beach area with a shade umbrella table and chairs. Privacy fencing and shrubs screen the waterfront from the road. Lake Spofford is known for its Bass and Great Northern Pike fishing. Swimming in the crystal clear water is wonderful. Pierce Island State Park, with abundant blueberry bushes, is located 800 feet off of the dock. Paddle boat and canoe available for use.
Parking for several cars is located in front of the cottage; parking for several more is located in the driveway area behind cottage, adjacent to the carriage house.
Linens and towels can be supplied; we ask that they be left clean.
No smoking; pets are OK with pet deposit. Children are OK but must be supervised. It is not OK to flush diapers due to the plumbing.

Changeover day is Saturday. In by 4PM on Sat; out by 10 AM on Sat.
Security deposit of $600.

Year Purchased: 1998
My husband Bill and I purchased this cottage in 1998 so that we could be close to but not on top of my family. My mother, brother, aunt and cousins all have cottages on this lake.
Why the Owner Chose Spofford
Our family has lived on this lake since the 1920's, when my grandparents first bought a cottage here.
The Unique Benefits of this Cottage
We enjoy the boating, swimming, sailing, sun and berry picking this lake affords. There are shopping and restaurants in nearby Keene and Brattleboro, live theatre in Peterborough and West Chesterfield and antiqueing throughout the area.
