Casa Rayón is a secure and recently updated Casa Antigua from the Spanish colonial period located in the desirable Colonia Americana neighborhood of Guadalajara Jalisco. The exact date of the construction is unknown but it is assumed to date back to the 1800s. Its thick adobe wall and 15 foot ceilings keep the house warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
Thru out the house you will notice the artisan crafted mosaicos hidráulico or encaustic cement tiles that became popular in Europe and Latin America in the 1850s. They are still manufactured today in Guadalajara, by hand, using the same techniques.
You will appreciate the hand crafted talavera tiles line the walls of the kitchen as you enjoy modern conveniences like an induction burner, full size refrigerator, microwave oven, coffee maker, toaster and blender. You can still see where the openings in the ceiling were that allowed smoke to escape from the wood burning stove tops from yesteryear. For your convenience the kitchen is also equipped with cook ware and utensils, as well as plates dishes and flatware.
The bathrooms have talavera tiles as well as hand painted sinks. The Suite San Francisco bathroom has dual sinks and a bathtub to sit and soak.
Casa Rayón is conveniently located in the desirable Colonia Americana Neighborhood of Guadalajara, less than one block from Parque Revolución where the two subway lines meet, various bus lines connect, and you will always find a taxi.
The Templo Expiatorio, Gothic church is thee blocks from Casa Rayón. Easily WALK to historical downtown attractions, museums, banks, clubs, restaurants, shopping, language schools, and grocery stores.
