"Sea Urchins" is located on North Captiva Island, a barrier island located just north of Sanibel and Captiva. Since there are no bridges, North Captiva can only be accessed by boat. Consequently, there are no roads, only sandy paths winding through the island. Golf carts, bicycles and foot power are the standard means of transportation and shoes are optional.
"Sea Urchins" is located less than 100 yards from the beach...it is nestled among native palms along the end of a small fresh water lake that is constantly visited by beautiful wading birds, song birds, ospreys and the occasional bald eagle. With the house windows open, visitors can enjoy the peaceful sound of surf and the gentle rustle of palm fronds. Surrounded by vegetation, the house is wrapped by porches and decks on three sides and offers seclusion and privacy while still being conveniently located for all island activities.
"Sea Urchins" is a brand new home that is fully equipped to offer guests a most pleasurable and comfortable stay. There are two master bedrooms queen size beds and master baths. Both have French doors which open to the back porch overlooking the lake. A third bedroom has a full size bed and a half bath. A reading alcove also has a queen size mattress and could sleep extra guests and a large loft has four twin beds and lots of room to play. The kitchen table seats eight and the island bar seats an extra four. The living room has a fireplace and 42" television with DirecTV.
There are several beaches to explore on the island and excellent shelling and fishing. Snook, Redfish, Snapper, and Spotted Sea Trout will usually bite your hook from a shore or dock. Charter boats can be hired to take you out on a world-class Tarpon fishing or backwater fishing expedition. The island and its waters teem with unique, beautiful and sometimes rare wildlife...each day brings new discoveries and wonders. "Sea Urchins" is the perfect retreat or base for your island adventures.
