The Casita At Trails End was genuinely our home away from home for nine nights. Both my husband and I were delighted with its location in Corrales and the fact that it was so close to shopping, sightseeing, but best of all was the beautiful views of the Sandia Mountains..especially sunset! All we had to do was unpack our clothes, the Casita's amenities more than met our needs and was very private and quiet. Our stay was comfortable and everthing was clean and brand new. The owner was extremely helpful in recommending restaurants (the Indigo Crow and Cafe Viegaro were our favorites). We highly recommend staying here and we certainly plan to return soon!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+.
Owner response: It was such a pleasure to have Caroline & Marvin at the casita and hope to see them soon again. By the way the upper window now has a lovely black valance on it to keep out the summer morning sun. Thanks for choosing The Casita at Trails End. Your host Nancy

To anyone looking for a wonderful little place to stay in while visiting the area around Albuquerque, you found it. We have used VRBO to rent places all around the country and we have always had good experiences but this was by far the nicest place we have stayed. It is at the end of lane with a few other houses on it and is attached to the owner's home but is very private. Nancy was wonderful from the first contact over the phone, to making sure we had the type of wine we like in our welcoming basket (white) to meeting up with us in Corrales so that we could find the casita. The casita is open and airy with wood beamed ceilings,a nice little kitchen, a really comfortable firm bed and a great shower. Outside is a private patio with a table and chairs, a gas grill and a Chimnea with wood provided. Across from the lane is a walking/horse path that was nice to stroll along in the evenings. While in the area for a conference we took some outings... taking the Tram up Sandia mountain is a lot of fun and there is good hiking at the top. Nancy recommended a day trip to Acoma, the oldest occupied pueblo in New Mexico. We really found it to be a worthwhile trip. It is on a reservation and you are driven to the top of the mesa, receive an excellent group tour by a guide and then we chose to hike down. The trail down was steep and very beautiful. The whole trip to New Mexico was great and the Casita in Corrales was a lovely home base for all of our adventures.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Nancy's "jewel" was home for us, a couple looking to relocate to New Mexico, from mid July to the end of August. Our stay was perfect. Having never spent time in the albq area we consider ourselves blessed to have encountered such a setting. The location, the view, the sense of being at home, Nancy's readiness to respond to our needs, were everything described. The photographs can't capture the marvelous show beheld each evening as we sat at the patio in awe of the constantly changing colors, shadows, and highlights of the New Mexico sun on the canvas of the Sandia mountains. One detail i have not noticed in the property description that a prospective renter would want to know is that the toilet area has no door and so if someone is looking for privacy the bedroom door would have to be closed after the bedroom is vacated. That was not a problem for us, but for numbers beyond two that could be uncomfortable. While she enjoyed the many walking paths bordering the aceqias (irrigation ditch) for her dog walks i enjoyed the daily walk down to the Corrales Bistro and Brewery where i found one locally designed and brewed Chai IPA and eleven quest taps featuring regional micro-brews. Wagners farmer's market, next to the Bistro, has a cafe (open weekends) that serves up some of the freshest and tastiest chile verde dishes i have ever had. The cafe is farmstand, order at the counter, sit at table, bus your own table kind of place. Our dog had space to run and nancy's dog to play with. We loved the casita and recommend it..Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

My husband and I were surprisingly amazed with the accomodations and the hospitality of Nancy Wils the owner. The accomodations were very comfortable - it felt like a home away from home, and Nancy met our every need yet highly respected our privacy. Besides a large bedroom and bath with walk in closet, full kitchen and living room, there was a great outdoor patio. The patio had a barbeque, fire pit, and comfortable patio furniture where you could even enjoy the hot air baloons passing overhead and the fireworks at night. The property is in a remote area, also lending to the feeling of privacy, yet minutes away from shopping, downtown, etc. Nancy is also a gourmet cook, and I would recommend ordering some of her menu items - she provides much more than one can consume for dinner - which made for great left overs. I highly recommend this little villa. Best Regards Lou & RandiRecommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Dear Randi and Lou, It was such a pleasure to have you here and the flowers were lovely for two weeks after you left. Thanks again, please come back and visit again soon. Nancy

This rental was as described and pictured. My husband and two daughters stayed here for 6 days. The unit was clean, stocked and within driving distance of tourist attractions. The walk in closet easily accommodated our belongings. There were plenty of towels and linens available as well. Lots of natural light via skylights. Local restaurants were reasonably priced and we did not have on bad meal. The Indigo Cafe' was in Corrales was great. El Vicino had great brick oven pizza and sandwich's. We did not experience our Hostess' cooking as we were on a limited budget but the menu looked great. The views from our patio and bedroom were wonderful and relaxing. We saw and heard lots of wildlife. Loads of horses, birds, walking/biking trails. Definitely for the outdoor enthusiast. The owner greeted us with a key and wine, then we were left alone for the rest of the week. We ended our week with a ride on the tram going to Sandia Peak. That is definitely worth it with the exception of myself who has a fear of heights but I mustard ed up the courage to go up 10,000 feet. Overall we had a great time and would recommend this property to others.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: It was a pleasure having you folks, I'm glad you had a great time! Please come see us again. Nancy

My stay at the casita was thoroughly enjoyable! I can happily confirm all the positive reviews - comfortably spacious and finely appointed with artistic touches at every glance. I particularly enjoyed its location in Corrales where I purchased a residential lot about 5 years ago. Lots of horses, southwest history, birdlife, and of course panoramic views of the majestic Sandia Mountains. This is a really cute and charming casita with all the special amenities of a first-class B&B. As an aside, I suffer from shoulder arthritis and came back to Napa, California where I reside with a tremendous amount of relief, which I still have a whole month later. Ordinarily, I would simply attribute my recovery to New Mexico’s arid climate, but I've never noticed significant improvements during prior stays in Arizona. In conclusion, I am also happy to say that the lodging rates are competitive with hotels I’ve stayed at in NM before. Obviously there is no comparison between a hotel and a B&B (and this is a very nice B&B), hence my 5-star rating. Take advantage of the opportunity, like me you’ll be grateful you did!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

My wife and I stayed at this exceptionally quiet, clean, and private Casita in April. Nancy does everything to make sure that your stay here is satisfactory. We enjoyed the morning sunrises over the Sandia Mountains each morning from our patio and watched the many birds pass by the entrance gate including quails and roadrunners. Away from the bright lights of the city the nights have a majesty all their own. We suggest a ride up Meadowlark in the evening to view the overview of the whole valley, amazing light display. The Menu that Nancy offers and the food she prepares would match any 4 star restaurant, from breakfast to lunch and dinners is nothing short of awesome! The pictures online do not do justice to the spacious interiors this casita offers. Clean, comfortable and affordable make for a great vacation away from home. Thank you Nancy for all you did for us, we will return! Bob and Diana-MassachusettsRecommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Our family of six stayed in this lovely home in April 2010. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the weather, the small village of Corrales, and Albuquerque in general. We used this home as a base to explore the Nob Hill area, Old Town, the Zoo/Aquarium/Botanical Gardens, the village of Corrales, the Indian Cultural Center, the National Petroglyph Monuments and took a day trip to Taos (2.5 hours Northeast). We arranged a ridge line horse ride in the mountains (which we marveled at each morning over coffee on the patio). Our host was very nice and suggested places to see and things to do. My wife and I are runners and we ran 2 miles on horse trails several mornings to our favorite breakfast hangout, the Flying Star Cafe (http://www.flyingstarcafe.com/breakfast.htm). The coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice were tasty additions to their fine breakfast menu. We also visited the Corrales Winery, and after sampling their wines, ate at the Indigo Crow Cafe in the village (http://www.indigocrowcafe.com/) which was excellent. We took the Sandia Tram (http://www.sandiapeak.com/) up the mountain on our last full day and had a bite to eat at the summit. This was not to be missed. This house is about 15 to 20 minutes from almost anything in Albuquerque and is set in a very quiet neighborhood of fine homes, about a fifth of which have horses. The kids really enjoyed the house and we used the fireplace in the evenings a few nights. There are malls, stores, restaurants, and playgrounds within 5 minutes drive and the mix of quiet seclusion with easy access to all of the places we wanted to see was nice. Interstate 25 is seven minutes away, and the airport is 20-25 minutes away. We rented an inexpensive seven passenger van at Rentawreck for the week and drove up to Taos on a day trip and saw the Rio Grande Gorge and Taos Plaza. We ate at Graham's Grille (http://www.grahamstaos.com/dining/) which was very good. There was so much to see and do, we'll have to go back. We would definitely stay here again as we loved Corrales. The house was clean and lived up to the photos posted on this site and the host (Nancy) was an available resource and a pleasure to meet.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

This is an exceptionally lovely, private casita situated in the quiet semi-rural horse country of Corrales with convenient access to shopping, restaurants, galleries and entertainment. It functions particularly well as a comfortable hub for exploratory trips to a wide choice interesting destinations in a 100 mile radius including the Santa Fe Trail, Turquoise Trail, Jemez Mountains, a host of Indian Pueblos, ancient ruins, museums, areas for hiking and other outdoor interests, casinos and much more. The rooms are spacious, have good lighting (skylights in the bathroom and large walk-in closet); the living room has two large sofas and the bedroom a comfortable king-size bed. The casita is decorated with an appealing, eclectic assembly of prints, vases, baskets and other artifacts from the owner's personal collection that work together to generate a pleasing and comfortable ambience. The casita is well provisioned with kitchen, linen, toiletry and emergency supplies satisfying most personal needs. The casita is attached to the side and rear of the owner's residence, has a private parking area and it's own entrance with a lot of privacy. It is very quiet, i.e., no road noise and no disturbance from owner's quarters. An attractive walled, covered patio is right in front of the entrance providing a table and seating for four, a grill, a propane heater for cool desert evenings and a small wood stove. The view of the Sandia Mountains from the front door or patio is spectacular. The apartment and furniture are very clean; everything in working order; good internet access. The owner is very congenial and helpful; happy to assist in any way yet very respectful of one's privacy. Additionally, she is an outstanding cook! She offers a delightful menu of meals which she will prepare for you if you're not inclined to eat out. (Requires some advance notice). I suggest the Roast Lamb with roasted vegetables, basmati rice and fruit salad :) I spent a most enjoyable two weeks here in February 2010, leaving with regret. I would most definitely recommend a stay here.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

About the owner: I am the local realtor for the Corrales area. I have owned the Real Estate office in Corrales since 1999. And, I have worked the Albuquerque Real Estate market since 1997. Through the years I have helped hundreds of families, find their new home or pick up another investment here in the village. It's a wonderful place to live, raise a family, retire or just own property for future value. We have many wineries, artists, musicians, along with being a friendly agricultural, artsy funky village. It's funny that many of my guests started by coming on vacation and then deciding that this is where they want to live.
