Slow down... this isn't the mainland. If you are looking to relax and truly get away from it all, our house is the place for you. This 3 bedroom cottage is located in Ocracoke Village on the Outer Banks of NC. It has all the amenities of home and is decorated in sea glass colors which reflect our love of the water. The location is very quiet and private. It is secluded among cedar trees yet within walking or biking (the preferred method of transportation) distance of restaurants, shopping, Silver Lake harbor and the Ocracoke Lighthouse. Spend your days with a good book on the deck or screened porch, out in the boat, or enjoying one of America's #1 rated beaches (Dr. Beach, 2007).
Enjoy your morning coffee out on the deck overlooking our private yard or in the kitchen as the sunrise greets you thru the French doors. The cottage sleeps 6 with one queen bed, one double bed, and two twin beds. It is furnished with everything you need to immediately feel right at home... extra pillows and blankets, a CD and DVD library and everything you need to cook all your meals there. There is a hot/cold outdoor shower and stereo with iPod docking station.
Ocracoke is rich with local history in waterfowling, commercial fishing and of course, the pirate Blackbeard. It was at Teach's Hole off the shore of Ocracoke Island where Blackbeard famously met his demise. If you enjoy seafood there are many restaurants serving local fare or you can drop by the local fish market for something fresh to cook back at the cottage (unless of course you catch your own). For you fishermen there is room for boat parking and we have a lighted fish cleaning station. Boat rentals and both fishing and sailboat charters are available out of Silver Lake.

Clean and tidy but ....Yucky water

We enjoyed our stay at the Sunfetcher and our time on Ocracoke but was disappointed to find that the water issues had not been resolved. It was still brown and very smelly. Bring lots and lots of bottled water. Showering in the outdoor shower also helped us tolerate the smell. The house was clean and tidy and felt secluded which was very nice.

This place was very quaint. It was just my hubby and I and our two boxers, Tyson and Max. We brought our bikes and rode all around town. The location was perfect....right down the street from the lighthouse as well. We also rented kyacks and had a fabulous day exploring the island.....and don't miss horseback riding. It was phenominal. We went in the morning an loved it. The water on the island was a little unbearable...so just be forewarned and bring lots of bottled water. We actually did most of our shopping prior to coming over to the island and saved a lot of money. Have fun!
Owner response:Great News! After many years, the county/village has now made more water hook-ups available and we eagerly purchased one! We are just waiting for the mainline for all the neighbors to be run down the driveway and then we can get hooked up. It will definitely be completed for the 2011 rental season.

I rented this house with my partner, a friend and her 2 yr old child. We had a wonderful time! Everything was clean and well stocked. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare small meals. The house is very nice and close to the main section of town. We even took a nice stroll to the general store and did not have to drive! The back porch was very nice, but we especially enjoyed the screened in porch. The only drawback is the water - it was very smelly and brown. We never intended to drink it, but we had planned on showering. The good thing was after the shower, we didn't smell like the water (we didn't think anyway...). Overall we totally enjoyed our time there and the owners were great to work with. Highly recommend the house for the price!

We had an AWESOME time at this property for Christmas and New Years 2009. Michelle was excellent! We brought our dogs and had the most relaxing holidays. We especially enjoyed the Nature Trail just past the light house and the Creekside Cafe. We even made friends and were able to borrow some kayaks one day. I would highly recommened this house to anyone. One note, the water is VERY brackish so make sure to bring plenty of drinking water.
