The Pagoda is a two-bedroom, two-bath private residence that sleeps six. This fully-furnished, ocean-view home of 1,470 square feet, plus carport and covered walkways, sits on 1.1 acres. It is in the lush Escaleras mountains, about 1,100 feet elevation, 2 km off the Costanera (coast highway). The design is sleek and Japanese-inspired. Large windows maximize mountain breezes and stunning views of jungle-covered mountains, the Whale’s Tail and the entire Southern Pacific Zone.
The Pagoda is equipped with linens, towels, ceiling fans, phones, satellite TV, fridge, gas range, dishwasher, garbage disposal, washer, dryer, toaster oven, microwave, coffee maker, dishes.
The elegant Zen simplicity complements the tropical rainforest setting. Interior trim is of local cedar, bamboo, and stainless steel. Main floor is one big room for living/dining /kitchen, with queen sofa/bed, Bali sectional sofa, Bali teak dining table and own full bath. Kitchen features custom concrete countertops, cooking island, stainless appliances, walk-in pantry.
Upstairs Moroccan Lounge/office doubles as bedroom. Bali Bedroom has teak queen bed and panoramic ocean view. Master bath has ocean-view tub, his-and-her basins, large vanity mirror, separate water closet. Ample storeage.
Ask about renting the two-bedroom, furnished, private apartment on garden level with ocean views and separate entrances, with own living area/kitchen.

Year Purchased: 2006
I discovered the lovely beach town of Dominical on a surfing trip in 2003. Two months later I quit my job in California and moved to Dominical. Working for a real estate company there, I showed and wrote about many terrific properties. When I found this lot with its amazing ocean view, I had to buy it. I fulfilled my dream of designing and building my own home -- The Pagoda. It and the garden apartment are available for rent, for others' enjoyment.
Why the Owner Chose Dominical
Having lived and surfed in Hawaii for many years, I am partial to tropical paradises. Dominical, Costa Rica is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. The area is not crowded and is more affordable than Hawaii. My property is on a mountain, yet close enough to the beach to hear the surf breaking. The community is international, close-knit, and friendly.
The Unique Benefits of this House
The main things I enjoy here are outdoor exercise, followed by relaxing and socializing with my friends. Morning hikes, ocean swimming, surfing, bodysurfing, kayaking, and yoga classes are my favorite activities. I catch up on reading and watch TV with Spanish subtitles to learn the language. There are good restaurants and bars nearby, even Movies in the Jungle at an open-air theater.
