We are so excited to share our new vacation rental, Splashes of Mermaid, with you! Mark and I and our four kids have worked tirelessly converting our Mermaid Pools Design Center into Splashes of Mermaid. After closing our pool construction business, it broke my heart to see our beautiful design center empty and lonely. So, we decided to bring this amazing vintage home back to its residential splendor and fill it with all the comforts of home. After all, this house has served multiple purposes over it's nearly 100 year life, including being the home to wonderful families.
The pool is such an amazing part of this whole Splashes of Mermaid experience. It's beautiful to look at for sure, but it's actually such an incredibly fun pool because it's only two feet deep. You can sit and lounge and still swim around if you want! I like it better than the spa we just got for home. And, for lounging, I like it more than our regular pool at home.

Only minutes from quaint Mount Dora, you will feel the pulse of the city, yet feel miles away when lounging by our beautiful backyard soaking pool. Enjoy a relaxing stroll around neighboring Lake Gertrude or pack a picnic lunch and ride bikes all the way into town. We have six bikes available to use for the extent of your stay for just nominal fee.
Splashes of Mermaid offers all the amenities of a well equipped home with unmistakable attention to detail. We go to great lengths to ensure you are "rest assured" with our impeccable bed dressings. Each bed is topped with a cozy hypo-allergenic duvet encased in a crispy clean duvet cover that we launder after each guest. No more wondering when the bedspread was cleaned! Egyptian cotton sheets meet your weary head to take you into slumber. You will rest in comfort knowing your whole bed is fresh, clean and cozy.

My name is Maria Slaby and my family and I are happy to welcome you to "Splashes of Mermaid." Mark and our four kids have worked tirelessly to create a place for you and your friends and family to enjoy. We've taken "This Old House" and have transformed it into a Vintage Beauty. Along the way, our homeschooled kids, ages 8-15 have learned enormously, both in skill and wisdom. Each one of them has played a significant role in creating this beautiful escape you and your group can enjoy today.

The decor inside the house is very eclectic, warm and inviting. On the down side, the set up is a bit odd. To access the kitchen you need to go through bedrooms. There wasn't much in the landscaping and the pool was dirty with critters inside. Unfortunately we could not enjoy the pool. Lastly, the decor outside is a bit odd or "cartoonish". Not sure why the house has to have a "name" and the picture above the doorway was strange. Would be good for young children, not for adults. We nicknamed the house "Ariel" like the Little Mermaid just for the fun of it.
Recommended for:Families with young children.

We stayed at Splashes and we were very happy there! It was bright and very relaxing. I loved the beds and warm and cozy comforters. We had a chance to meet the owners and their son. They were very personable and would help you with anything about the house. We had two families staying there. I would highly recommend renting this place. The town of Mount Dora is very cute!! We stayed at Mermaids for the Dora Bike fest. Close to the festivities and a house with lots of charm and character. What a great job you did on the decor. This is a great place for families to stay and we really enjoyed it!

We spent several days in your colorful clean and compact home for a family wedding. We entertained out of town company and all enjoyed the back yard and the pool. The beds were cozy and so comfortable. The location near stores and five minutes away from the heart of Mt Dora met our needs. We truly enjoyed our stay at Splashes of Mermaid. What a great place! We had such a good time at your rental home. Very relaxing, decor was very colorful & fun and everyone commented on how comfortable their bed was. We had all intentions on going into town and shopping alot but we ended up staying around the house mostly because we enjoyed the house so much, especially the wading pool! We had decided before we left that we wanted to come back next year for our get together. Thanks again - we really enjoyed ourselves!

We really enjoyed our stay at Splashes. It was comfortable, spacious, and nicely decorated. The large back yard was perfect for a cookout, some games, and lounging by the pool. Only a short ride to town and the lake. Great experience!
