Lovely Home by Lagoon on Beautiful Kiawah Island

My husband and I enjoyed a short but pleasant stay in this beautifully appointed home on a lagoon past the second gatehouse and near the end of the island. The home has four well-decorated bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, and each with its own flat-screen TV with cable. The MBR, with its own porch, and the bath are especially nice. A large open living area opens to a porch overlooking a lagoon where we spotted a few alligators during our stay. Two dining areas and a decent-sized kitchen adjoin the living area. The beach is a 10-minute walk or a five-minute bike ride away. We had access to most of Kiawah's resort amenities, including the restaurants, exercise facility, golf courses and club houses. Kiawah is loaded with safe and well-constructed bike paths - we went on a wonderful 15-mile ride one afternoon and enjoyed seeing lots of wildlife. Pros: Large, well-decorated, lovely home with many amenities. The inside was very clean. The beaches at Kiawah are wide and clean - great for walking, biking, or just relaxing. Bicycles are easy to rent on Kiawah and the bike shop will deliver them and pick them up. We ate some good food in the local restaurants, especially Tomasso at Turtle Point. Cons: About the house - a few glitches during our stay were to be corrected by the property manager, including a leaky dishwasher, faulty smoke alarm, and a few insects in the kitchen. The outside areas and porches were in need of a good sweeping - lots of pollen and tree debris this time of year. The kitchen could use some additional cooking equipment for those who like enjoy cooking. All-in-all, a very nice house.
Recommended for:Girls getaway, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with young children.
