Location: Beaufort, Central Coast, Coastal, North Carolina, USA (Walk to Airport, Waterfront, Marinas, Museums & Restaurants)
Accommodations: Cottage, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath (Sleeps 4)
Althea Cottage is a 2 bedroom bungalow moved into the heart of historic Beaufort in the 50's. Its history prior to that is unknown, but it had several additions through the 70's and was a private residence the entire time. Bought at year's end 2007, the cottage was gutted, and renovations took 1 full year. The result is stunning with the entire interior being covered in bead board with exceptional detailing.
The Althea Cottage got its name from the owner's Mother, who upon entering the yard for the first time commented "You've got an Althea blooming....my Mother's favorite flower". The Althea bush more commonly known in America as a Rose of Sharon, is hanging-on in the back yard.
Althea Cottage offers 2 bedrooms, 1 large bath, a brand new kitchen (Stainless refrigerator, cook top, sink, large toaster oven), and boasts slightly obstructed views of Gallants Channel from the rear bedroom and back yard, and of Taylor Creek from the front rooms and beautiful front porch where you are only 500 feet away from the water, and only 3 blocks of all of Beauforts shops, restaurants, marinas, and museums. An ideal retreat tucked away along a private lane in the most historic part of Beaufort.
This cottage is sure to give you a relaxing stay while in Beaufort.
