Perfect apartment in a great location!

Guest: Marilyn (Alameda, CA)
Date of Stay: 03/26/12 Review Submitted: 04/09/12

We had to make an unexpected trip to MN and were in a rush to find something immediately. The owners responded quickly to our inquiry and were so accommodating and friendly. We use VRBO regularly and found this apartment to be one of the nicest we have stayed at. From the wonderfully apponted kitchen, separate office area with WI-FI and printer, great living room, large bathroom with washer and dryer to the large comfortable bed, everything was neat, clean and fully stocked. There is a grill and patio for your private use, separate entrance, fenced back yard and parking area off the street. The location is perfect. Ten minutes to downtown Minneapolis, 15 minutes to the Mall of America, 15 minutes to St. Paul. There is a lightrail train within walking distance I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone who wants to enjoy what Minneapolis has to offer without the traffic and noise. It definitely is a haven.

Romantic Valentine's Day Getaway

Guest: HuskyAngus (Aberdeen, South Dakota)
Date of Stay: 02/13/12 Review Submitted: 02/27/12

My boyfriend and I stayed at this charming apartment over Valentine's Day. The pictures do not do it justice...we were greeted with a warm smile from Margots (lives downstairs in the main house) and walked into the apartment to find a complete kitchen, office space (with printer), living room with an oh so snuggly couch and huge tv, GORGEOUS bathroom with whirlpool tub and washer and dryer, and perhaps the best part of the stay...a SUPER COMFORTABLE king size bed. Our host really went out of his way to make our stay lovely, including two fresh tulip arrangements (one in kitchen and one in the bedroom), a dozen roses, bottle of champagne, chocolate treats, and floating candles. It was so sweet and romantic--my boyfriend said he should have taken credit, but it was all our host. The rental is WONDERFUL all around. Great location, within walking distance to a popular light rail stop, and plenty of grocery stores, restaurants, and shopping! We will definitely be renting this place again. I recommend it for anyone looking to have a relaxing stay in a beautiful home. Great for couples, families, and a girls weekend! The rental is very easy to find, and is in a great location (just a few blocks from the home of the original JUICY LUCY--a must try)

South Minneapolis at its best...such a pleasure I didn't want to leave!

Guest: Thea (Los Angeles)
Date of Stay: 09/01/11 Review Submitted: 01/19/12

This apartment turned what might have been an okay Minneapolis experience into a wonderful one. I found it a productive place to read and write (and a comfortable place to procrastinate those tasks!). From the king-size bed to the whirlpool tub to the well-equipped kitchen to the sunny deck, there's no better way to start one's day. The woodwork is gorgeous and the space has been furnished with care. There's plenty of natural light. The location is convenient to the University of Minnesota campus and some terrific south Minneapolis cafes (I recommend Peace Coffee and the Birchwood). A new food co-op is nearby. I negotiated a low joining fee at the YWCA that's three blocks away. The light rail goes directly to the airport. Because I was a long-term guest, I got to know the hosts. I know that previous reviewers have already said so, but I'll repeat it for emphasis: Margots and Anita are lovely people-- thoughtful, helpful, and accommodating. They met my specific needs, which included having a dog and renting a car from them during my stay. Plus I discovered that I am very fond of Latvian pastries.

Wonderful Summer!

Guest: Friends (Phoenix, AZ)
Date of Stay: 06/04/11 Review Submitted: 09/06/11

We are Arizona residents who spend our summers in Minneapolis where we have family and friends. Our summer was spent in this cozy, one bedroom apartment which was beautifully decorated and maintained in addition to having many nice amenities, including a large flat screen television, washer, dryer and new kitchen appliances. The highlight of our stay was the graciousness of our hosts, who went above and beyond to ensure that we were comfortable and enjoyed our time there. We look forward to renting from them next summer.

Minneapolis Apartment

Date of Stay: 05/17/11 Review Submitted: 05/28/11

This was a perfect place to stay while visiting my daughter in Minneapolis. The location, in a nice, established neighborhood, is very near downtown. The apartment was even better than described. What a pleasant surprise. It was well stocked with bottled water, coffee, cereal, juice and more. The owners bent over backwards to make sure I was comfortable. I am looking forward to staying there when I visit Minneapolis again.

Great Minneapolis Apartment

Guest: Santa (Minneapolis, MN)
Date of Stay: 05/09/11 Review Submitted: 08/03/11

My family and I stayed in this apartment for a week, the apartment was very clean and beautifully furnished. We felt right at home. The backyard was perfect for my two year old who loved playing on the swing set, I highly recommend this place if you have children. The location was also ideal; only a few blocks away from the light rail which brings you to either the Mall of America or downtown Minneapolis. I would recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a place to stay in Minneapolis.

Great Hosts and Apartment

Date of Stay: 05/06/11 Review Submitted: 05/22/11

Anita and Margots are gracious hosts and they have thought about every amenity to make your stay comfortable. The apartment has been remodeled so the bathroom and kitchen are modern and well supplied. The bedroom is comfortable and the living room has a large flat screen t.v and even a fine stereo. There is also a balcony and grill. Our 3 year old grandson enjoyed their play area behind the house. A real winner in the twin cities.

Great Place to Stay!

Guest: Craig & Anna (Fergus Falls, MN)
Date of Stay: 01/28/11 Review Submitted: 02/03/11

We absolutely loved your place. We are originally from Minneapolis and are familiar with the area. It's in a perfect location to get anywhere. The alleys were a bit tricky with all the snow we've had this year, but Margots had everything plowed out and sidewalks shoveled we didn't get stuck. We had our own private entrance so we didn't disturb anyone coming and going. The personal touches with the fresh flowers, fruit bowl, fresh coffee, and chocolate were lovely. The place is even nicer than the pictures. I would recommend this to anyone visiting the Twin Cities. We will definitely return.

Our visit back to Minneapolis

Guest: Michelle O. (Santa Rosa, CA)
Date of Stay: 12/17/10 Review Submitted: 02/16/11

Margots and Anita made us feel completly at home while we were back in Minneapolis visiting our family. It was so wonderful coming "home" each night to our sweet little hideaway. They were the most gracious hosts, by first picking us up at the airport then renting the car to us and lastly sharing a beautifully prepared Latvian meal with us. We so enjoyed our stay and will be back as often as we can. I also loved that we were able to do laundry while we were there, a great added amenity.

This apartment will make your vacation!

Guest: Karen (Spring Creek, NV )
Date of Stay: 11/06/10 Review Submitted: 11/23/10

My husband and I stayed in this apartment for four nights. We loved everything about it from its exceptional owners and their hospitality to the bikes we borrowed to the whirlpool tub to the location! Before we booked this rental, I contacted the owner and he was very quick to respond back and answered all my questions efficiently. He picked us up and delivered us back to the airport. He provided us with information on eating locales, grocery stores, bike paths, and the metro line. The location of this apartment made it easy for us to fit in all we wanted to do the four days we were there: a play at the Guthrie Theater, a Vikings Game, 25 mile bike ride around 5 lakes, and a full day at Mall of America. It was wonderful to come "home" to the comforts of this apartment after our full days of adventure. I would recommend this apartment to anyone wanting a nice, quiet place to stay. The host family was quiet downstairs, The neighborhood was quiet and enjoyable to walk through. The balcony and whirlpool tub are retreats all on their own. Everything was clean and well-maintained. Do not hesitate in renting this apartment!

This place is perfect for a relaxing stay in the Twin Cities. Very accomadating owners. They'll pick you up at the airport and allow use of a car and bikes. The midtown location is great for access to restaurants, light rail, museams, shopping, freeways, etc. It is a quiet location on tree lined avenues. The apartment is well decorated and includes a full kitchen, big screen TV, computer with WiFi access, Washer/Dryer, and a great king bed. Definitely recommend for anyone visiting the Twin Cities. Much better than hotel life.

Great Apartment- Highly Recommend!

Guest: Frank's (Billings, MT)
Date of Stay: 10/20/10 Review Submitted: 11/03/10

The apartment surpassed our expectations, even after reading the reviews before booking. Margots picked us up at the airport and gave us a return ride when we departed. We did rent the car from him, which was convenient, no shuttles or reservation lines. The first impressions of Margots and the charming apartment were a WARM WELCOME. It was so comfortable and well stocked. The washer and dryer make packing lightly easy. Nothing has been overlooked for a great stay. We look forward to staying again ! Thank you!

Great Place to Stay!

Guest: Duane & Colette (St. George, Utah)
Date of Stay: 08/01/10 Review Submitted: 08/30/10

We stayed for a month and during the whole time we barely heard any noise from our hosts living on the first floor. We appreciated the quiet atmosphere. We loved being close to the Light Rail and the biking trails and took advantage of them often. Our accommodations proved to be better than we expected. It was fully stocked with any item a person would need for their stay: cleaning supplies, soaps, hotel quailty towels, good quality cooking pans, dinnerware and so forth. We had use of the yard with its outdoor dining area and play area for our children and grandchildren when they visited. We felt like we were living in our own private home. Best of all was meeting Anita and Margots. We enjoyed a wonderful meal hosted by them one evening. We would highly recommend staying at their rental unit.

A wonderful Minneapolis home to stay in

Guest: Pete (Olympia, WA)
Date of Stay: 07/09/10 Review Submitted: 08/08/10

My family stayed in Minneapolis for 18 days this summer while my wife attended the University of Minnesota to work on her doctorate degree. We had a wonderful stay at the home of Margots and Anita. The description and the reviews in the listing were so very accurate. Based on the photos that were placed in this listing, I knew it was a well maintained home, but, when we walked into our apartment for the first time, I realized that we really found a wonderful place to stay that was close to so many things, like shopping, parks, lakes, downtown Minneapolis, the Light Rail, The University of Minnesota; everything that we wanted to do. Was the property clean and well-maintained? The apartment is immaculate, and the bed is as comfortable as my own bed, (and I love my bed). It has two air conditioners which kept the apartment very cool when it was so warm outside in July. Was the owner helpful in answering your questions or concerns? We went to Minneapolis hoping to find a nice, safe, and clean place to stay, and we not only got that, but Margots and Anita are exceptional landlords. We left Minnesota with not only a great experience but with new found friends in Margots and Anita. I would recommend this home to anyone looking to stay in the Minneapolis area. We found an absolute gem. I would recommend you take a trip to any of the local urban lakes. Lake Nokomis is within two miles of the house and is a great walk or bike ride around the lake. My son loves trains and loved taking the Light Rail to the Mall of America where we played for several hours and caught a movie. We are so grateful for the privilege of meeting Margots and Anita and their family, and will always remember their hospitality, and kindness. You will love this home.

Comfortable and well-equipped apartment in a pleasant neighborhood

What a jewel! I have taken far too long to write this review, but my mother and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in late June. The kitchen and bathroom were well-stocked with necessities, and having a washer/dryer made it easy to pack light. The nearby farmers' market and light-rail station are also a tremendous plus, and Margots and Anita were very accommodating and kind enough to pick us up from the airport and take us back when it was time to leave. Highly recommended!

Great location and VRBO.

Guest: jr.berlin1 (Philadelphia)
Date of Stay: 05/21/10 Review Submitted: 05/24/10

My wife and I stayed a long weekend. The house is beautifully and tastefully restored, and the amenities made our stay very comfortable. The little extras that our hosts presented (fresh flowers, good coffee beans, computer with web access, preparing bicycles for our use) were much appreciated. The location is great if you do not want to rely on an automobile. The house is three blocks (5 minute walk) from the Lake St. light rail station. The cross-town bicycle path with all its connections around Minneapolis is just on the other side of Lake St. A farmer's market is held twice a week (Tuesdays? and Saturdays) next to the light rail station. We purchased delicious local, organic strawberries in Minnesota, in May - who would have thought. We will recommend this VRBO to our family and hope to stay there again next time we are in Minneapolis.

Thank you for all the extras your apartment offers. Enjoyed the jacuzzi! The fresh flowers and coffee were a very nice touch. Appreciated the many amenities you offered. We BBQ'd the best chicken and steak meals on the BBQ. The bed is incredibly comfortable. Enjoyed the quiet, cleanliness, and updated appliances the apartment offered. Everything you need when traveling was supplied. Thanks for a pleasant stay in Minneapolis.

We stayed at this lovely vacation rental in Minneapolis for two weeks over the Thanksgiving holiday. We were delighted to meet Margots and his wife Anita. They were wonderful hosts who saw to our every need. Margots picked us up at the airport when we arrived and took us back when we left. He also provided us with a car to rent which was convenient and very reasonably priced. The one bedroom apartment is truly lovely! The kitchen is filled with exquisite pots, pans, dishes and modern appliances just like home. We made our Thanksgiving dinner there! The bedroom has a beautiful antique four post king size bed. The living room couch also makes into a bed and the bathtub is a jacuzzi. In the bathroom are top of the line washing machine and dryer. We are looking forward to seeing Margots and Anita again and staying at their vacation rental when we return to Minneapolis.

We really liked the apartment, and enjoyed our stay there greatly. My wife and I came to the cities with our daughter for 6 days for a short vacation and to get her set up in the dorm, and ready to begin college at Macalester. We were new to the cities and unsure of what neighborhood might be best to stay in, but we saw that the apartment and yard looked very nice in the photos and it was only a 10-15 minute drive from Macalester so we decided to try it. Everything was very clean and extremely comfortable, and the neighborhood was most pleasant to explore. We enjoyed biking and walking through the tree-filled streets and parks, and we enjoyed the backyard with lovely flowers, greenery and comfortable seating, as well as the large deck where we made good use of the BBQ and table areas. Our host, Margots, was extremely hospitable and helpful, and in summary our expectations were surpassed and we hope to stay there again on future visits.

This place is awesome! I am a medical student and stayed for 4 weeks while training at Hennepin County Medical Center (5-10 min away). The accommodations far exceeded my expectations - everything you need (and then some) was provided. The place was immaculate, comfortable, beautifully decorated, and included all of the amenities of home. The owners are incredibly friendly and accommodating. The private deck and grill are also great - and I used them often! My wife and kids also came up for a week and there was plenty of room for them to be comfortable - the kids were welcome to play in the yard and we even used the fire pit to roast marshmallows one evening. I highly recommend this place to anyone coming to the twin cities for business or pleasure - you won't be disappointed!

We absolutley LOVED our stay here. The pictures do not do this vacation rental justice. Everything was brand new, the bed is HUGE and beautiful, everything was decorated so nice and it was so comfortable. The owner's were so very accomodating, I told them I was coming up for a girl's weekend away from the husbands and kids and they made sure to stock the apartment with tea, coffee, shampoo & conditioner, curling irons, blow dryers, tooth paste, movies, games and even chocolate chip cookies!! You have your own private deck on the second floor which allows for such a nice view. On the main floor is this beautifully decorated garden area with seating and a fire pit which we were welcome to use. I highly recommend this rental to anyone looking for a nice relaxing stay in the cities. I know i'll be back again and again!
