Sunlight Beach is locally known as one of the sunniest spots on beautiful Whidbey Island, gateway to the American San Juan Islands. Only one hour from Seattle, this pristine beach opens up to thousands of acres of warm tide flats each day at low tide. Warm waters fill the shallow, sandy bay each day over sun drenched sand flats. Watch Eagles, Osprey, Cranes, Seagulls and other water fowl, as well as collect sand dollars and sea shells. Buy a fishing, clamming/crabbing license and enjoy the bounty of nature which Useless Bay offers in great abundance. Early summer offers raspberries and strawberries on the north end of the island, while late summer offers blackberries and apples right on Sunlight Beach.
Nearby Bayview offers a natural grocery store (Star Market), cafe and art studio, with a Saturday Farmers' Market. The quaint seaside village of Langley (7 miles away), is an easy bike ride or quick drive away. Gentle curving country roads lead to this picturesque town. Antiques, art, locally owned restaurants offer variety and quality products of all types. Further up the road is historic Fort Casey and Coupville. There is so much to do, and yet often nothing is better than just relaxing on the warm beach, strolling in the shallow water just as the tide comes in, and finishing the day with a nice meal on deck looking toward Mr. Baker. This is the Pacific NW's finest!

Year Purchased: 1984
Born and raised in Seattle, I am familiar with the Puget Sound and Pacific NW. I have traveled extensively and find this part of the world to be the best overall for recreational access, natural beauty and abundance. Sunlight Beach has been my summer home for the past 50 years. I enjoy the clamming, crabbing and fishing all summer long, as does my family.
Why the Owner Chose Clinton
This is part of our family tradition, to spend time on Sunlight Beach. It offer year round natural beauty, splendor and recreation. This was my personal cabin for many years, until I purchased a larger one next door to accommodate my growing family. We still use this for overflow, and is preferred as it combines the best of country views and beach living.
The Unique Benefits of this Cabin
The public beach access is only 150 feet away, which is a no bank, sandy beach (rare in the Pacific NW). The southern exposure allows for maximum sun bathing time. I mostly enjoy walking the tide flats at low tide which extend out for half a mile or better, and many miles in width. The tide flats always surprise me with something new and interesting. Tennis at the South Whidbey School courts, bike riding and golf are just a few of the summer activities we enjoy. Best of all are evenings on the deck, relaxing and enjoying the bounty of the local markets and natures harvest, which is easily gathered from local berry bushes, apple trees, the tide flats and the surrounding waters. If i had all of the earth to choose from, I would still choose here.
