Year Purchased: 2004
I am a mother of 2 sons (7 and 4). My husband and I rent our cottage which is located within the grounds of our home. Both my husband have been involved in international business and offer a vacation rental that meets our own exacting standards.
Why the Owner Chose Cirencester
The vacation rental was previously a disused barn which offered itself for sympathetic development into a holiday rental. It has enhanced our property as it is situated within the grounds which are themselves situated within an 'area of outstanding natural beauty'.
The Unique Benefits of this Cottage
Situated within the beautiful and historic Cotswolds with easy access to the famous sites of the area. The cottage is situated within a very quiet village with many walks through outstanding countryside. Proximity to the Roman towns of Bath, Cheltenham and Cirencester as well as good train links to London (1.5 hours). The cottage guarantees a fantastic nights sleep as we pride ourselves on the quality not only of our furniture but of our beds and bed linen. We are also on-site and are able to provide local knowledge and assistance during peoples' stay.

A little tired around the edges

The cottage is beautifully located for either a completely relaxing, walking break with a wonderful little pub just down the road. Its also great for sightseeing around the cotswolds with most attractions within an hours drive. Would just like to point out although it is a lovely cottage and would have been superb when it first opened it is now showing signs of needing an update ie toaster needs replacing, fridge and microwave showing signs of wear and bathroom overall needs re-decorating. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay however for the price and bracket this cottage sits in standards should be higher.
Owner response:The refridgerator was replaced last year with a brand new model. The microwave is a multi-functional microwave oven and grill which, although, not the latest model is extremely reliable and robust. The toaster is an iconic duralit model which does the most wonderful toast and toasties and although modern is of a 1950s design familiar with some people. The bathroom, I agree, is in need of redecorating and this is due to be done in January 2012 as part of our annual maintainance programme.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, romantic getaway.

My partner and I spent a full week at Well Close Cottage. Oakridge Lynch is a storybook Cotswolds village, and the redone carriage house cottage is well appointed and beautifully decorated. The full bed is very comfortable, (the second twin bed bedroom also is lovely) and the kitchen has everything you need to "cook in." Our first night, the refrigerator was extremely noisy, but the owners who live next door replaced it the next day. Jayne also provides many books about the history of the area to help eager vacationers. You are walking distance to a local convenience store/ post office, and there are many public walks in the neighborhood: we enjoyed Cirencester and Nailsworth, delightful Cotswolds towns. Note: we had originally requested Newton Cottage, same owners - a weaver's cottage with amazing views and a wood stove. At the very last minute, in fact we were at the airport, Jayne informed us that there was a 'mix up' and offered us Well Close Cottage. We were extremely disappointed at first, but did enjoy our stay at Well Close. Just be sure to confirm which property you are engaging. Otherwise, it was a wonderful stay.

Well Close is a superb cottage with tremendous amenities and situated convenient to all things Cotswold. The owners live just across the yard and are great, sincere hosts. The cottage layout lends itself to comfort as the second floor allows you room to spread out and relax. The bedrooms are plush. The kitchen is first rate, as is the bath. The village has excellent pubs and walks while easy driving to larger centers and other quaint towns. It is also an easy drive to Oxford, Stratford, Bath, Stonehenge or Blenheim. Great for couples, FAMILIES or friends!
Recommended for:Sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
