Our family of four found the experience to be good to excellent. Our expectations were met and the property was as described. Linda was very helpful throughout. The weather and ocean were beautiful and the local staff were great. We would recommend this for a family vacation, but perhaps it would be quieter at a time other than Easter. The two weeks around Easter are a popular vacation time for the people of Honduras, so the island is busier than usual.

Owner response:Thank you for taking the time to comment on the property and your experience. Yes, Semana Santa (week prior to Easter Sunday) is by far the busiest on the island. In many Central American countries, the entire week is a holiday (banks & government offices closed) and Roatan is a choice holiday destination. There are times of the year where there are far fewer people visiting the island and there are destinations on the island where there are fewer people during Semana Santa. Linda Kay

As advertised. Great location with great views. Close to restaurants. Airport pick-up and return was prompt. Staff made sure everything was ok. Would stay here again and would recommend it to others. You get exactly what is promised.

The very best spot on West Beach Bay!

Hidden behind a coral outcrop, yet directly on the beach just a few feet from the water, this is in our opinion the very best spot of the entire West Bay Beach: quiet and private while only steps from restaurants and dive shops etc. The apartment itself is exactly as described and was perfect for our family of 4 adults. Except for one screen door, everything was in good working order. There was plenty of filtered water. Booking the apartment was easy and uncomplicated. Linda Kay and Kevin were really pleasant to deal with - in fact, they made the whole transaction feel like a visit with friends. Linda provided all the information we needed, immediately responded to all questions and offered many tips and useful insights. Kevin was at the apartment to welcome us when we arrived (by a taxi he had arranged) and to check whether we had everything we needed, then stopped by a couple of times again to make sure we were fine and to give us some "insider scoop" of the island. Tullio, the guard/caretaker, cleaned the grounds every day, swept the sand from the deck, and put a basin with fresh water by the stairs to wash the sand from the feet before entering. There is also an outdoor shower. One of the three dive shops Linda had recommended was Mayan Divers (a few minutes from the house), managed by Anja from Germany and her husband Liber from Cuba. One of us took a diving course (with Rick who is great) and then did several additional dives with them; they are very safety-conscious and professional and they have small groups (no cruise ship crowd!). We did not rent a car and felt no need to. As for restaurants, we found all quite OK but none outstanding. Fosters has lobster tails; Bite on the Beach is worth a visit at night just to watch the huge moray eels come out from the coral rocks beneath the restaurant. We had a totally relaxing vacation and definitely plan to come again. We can recommend this property without reservation.

I loved the location of this house. It is located just around the bend from the restaurants, bars and resorts on the beach. So it's a quiet oasis but a five-minute walk to all of these hot spots. The house had everything we needed and we loved the deck that faces the water. The staff was helpful and nice.

Having traveled to over 20 countries, we found this to be one of the most relaxing and enjoyable vacations. The location of the condo is unparalleled with regard to its privacy. A representative of the property was always available to assist with any of our needs. A short walk on the beach led us to restaurants, groceries and entertainment. We have already recommended this condo to friends and plan on returning.

Villa Ocean Reef

We recently returned from a week stay at the Villa Ocean Reef and had a terrific time. The Condo is just as advertised….right on the beach, very roomy, clean, well maintained, nice master bedroom and bath, great A/C, fully stocked kitchen, all the amenities of home and close to restaurants and dive shops. One really nice thing is that the Condo is stock full of towels. We stopped at a grocery store on the way from the airport to stock up on drinks, snacks, cereal, etc., and left a few items behind for the next renter. You don’t need to get water, it’s provided. The condo was trouble free all week and we were able to do plenty of diving and sightseeing. We used Anemona Divers, a two minute walk from the condo (located in the Foster’s Resort), and they were very good. A small operation, good dive boat, never over crowded, very good people. Paul is a first rate Dive Master. I highly recommend the Villa Ocean Reef and would stay there again.

We chose this property on the advise of a friend who has stayed here before. He loves it..and now..so do we! Everything about it was perfect, the condo, the location, the amenities, the beach and dealing with Linda and Kevin was a pleasure. The condo was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed.We just loved the people of the island. So friendly and helpful. The seafood in the restaurants was so terrific...and reasonably priced. I ate lobster every day!!!! We would highly recommend a stay at Ocean Reef,wonderful privacy...just steps away from all the action you could ask for.

We loved our week at Villa Ocean Reef. We stayed Christmas week and had a great time. The house was very comfortable and was a great size for my husband and I and our 2 adult sons. We enjoyed watching the fireworks at one of the resorts on West Bay Beach on New Year's Eve. It was close enough to get to the "famous" West Bay beach but away from the crowds on our beach. I loved sitting on the beach in front of our house! After traveling around the island, I was even more positive we had chosen exactly the right place. Thank you.

Villa Ocean Reef was the perfect choice for our family’s dive trip! The home was very clean and comfortable and we had everything we needed for the week. Best of all was the LOCATION! After an exhaustive Internet search of the available accommodations both at West Bay and West End, we chose this home and couldn’t have been more pleased. It was close enough to the main part of West Bay Beach, that we could walk there in 2 minutes, but was remarkably more private than the tourist beach. Not to mention our dive boat at Las Rocas was just 50 yards from our back door! Thank you so much for a perfect vacation!

We had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful condo on our honeymoon the week of October 25,2009 for a few days. It was right on the beach, beautifully decorated and had a complete kitchen. We could walk right out to the water to swim or go next door to Las Rocas for diving or eating. The owner, Linda Kay and her representative Kevin, were wonderful to deal with. We had the use of a cell phone for all local calls to make reservations for dinner or going out. If we wanted to go on a island tour we had the availability of a local driver who had a van. If we wanted to go down to West End we just took the water taxi . The condo was very clean and well-kept. The groundskeeper, Tulio was out every morning raking and cleaning the grounds. We had a great time and would definitely go back and without hesitation recommend it to anyone who wanted to have a lovely vacation. The sunsets are fabulous. Britt and Justin Conerly

We had an extremely positive,smooth, relaxing, and enjoyable vacation. My wife and I and our two children stayed in Villa Ocean Reef in West Bay (by far the best beach on Roatan) Aug. 8-15-2009. The very spacious 2br 2bath condo was extremely clean and well taken care, well stocked with appliances and utensils, drinking water and even a local cell phone for our use. Location was superb -- directly on a very private section of the beach, from which we could swim out to the reef to snorkle amidst the coral and fish. With a dip pool and outdoor shower for coming back in. But also within a block of restaurants, fishing boats, water taxis, and dive shops. The water was very calm and clear for good diving and snorkeling visability. Even tho we went during the U.S. traveling advisory effecting the mainland of Honduras, there were absolutely zero problems nor any disturbances on the island of Roatan. Linda and Kevin were terrific to work with, the neighbors and entire local population and businesses were very friendly and helpful, and the local neighborhood was very quiet at night. Among the best mix of very comfortable accomodations and fun activities that we have had -- highly recommended.

Beautiful condo in a perfect location! My family of 8 stayed there comfortably. We were walking distance from the white sands of West bay beach and very nice restaraunts. We loved the close proximity of our deck to the water and the fresh water pool. Jeff was very kind and brought us water when we needed it and took us to the grocery store. We had a wonderful time diving and doing the zip line. An amazing vacation. I would stay there again.

If you are looking for a condo that is close to the action, but feels safe and secluded, then this is the place for you. My family of 5 and my mother-in-law stayed in this condo March 21-28, 2009, and the location was perfect. We traveled to several beaches while in Roatan, and the best one (West Bay Beach) was just a few minutes walk from our condo. The Las Rocas Dive shop was at our front door, and they were a pleasure to do business with. The Monkey La La at Las Rocas was also a pleasure to drink. I can't get real excited about the food on the island, but some of the best food we found was all within walking distance. As far as the condo itself, we had absolutely no complaints. Jeff met us on our arrival, gave us a quick tour, answered all of our questions, and left us with instructions to call him if we needed anything. Fortunately, we didn't have any problems, and our security deposit was returned in full. In a nutshell, it was a great condo in a great location, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
