"Harborview" has a large sunken living room with fireplace and a glass wall on the view end of the room. On an upper level is a large kitchen that flows into the dining area that look down on the living room.
There is a two level wraparound deck with an umbrella table on one level for meals and outdoor cookouts. A spiral stair leads down to a spacious master (queen) bedroom and a room with two twin beds that share a full bath.
They both have access to the lower lawn, the former through sliding glass doors and the other a door.
"Harborview" looks out on the town of Essex, its boat yards and a portion of the Great Marsh. Through all this runs the tidal Essex River that rises and falls from 9 to 12 feet twice a day, bringing major changes to one's view on an hourly basis.
One can walk out the front door, across the private road to paths and then quiet ways that lead out onto big sky marshland. In route is Cogswell's Grant, a "Historic New England" (formerly SPNEA)farm that merits a visit.
A walk in the other direction would bring one into the charming village of Essex packed with outstanding restaurants and antique shops. Just down the hill is the Essex Shipbuilding Museum with its seasonal special events.

Owner's Profile
Why the Owner Chose Essex
Our children have always loved the many beaches of Cape Ann, especially 6 mile long Crane's Beach, just minutes away. This is one of New England's most extensive, un-built-upon beaches: No houses. Looking inland, the North Shore's fabled, elegant horse country is right next door, with its world class horse competitions, and miles and miles of hiking trails.
The Unique Benefits of this Townhome
We like to Kayak, canoe and sail, all of which can be done virtually from the front yard. (Lufkin's Boat Yard and launching ramp is right there.) For evening entertainment, there is the Gloucester Stage performing all summer, music theatre, a resident Chamber Music group, the Rockport Music Festival, and Boston (only 40 minutes south) with endless entertainment to choose from. In August each village holds its own "homecoming" celebration designed to entertain tourists.
