Even Better the Second Time!

Guest: Dan (Belmont, CA)
Date of Stay: 07/11/11 Review Submitted: 08/31/11

We returned to the townhouse at Mauna Lani again this year, this time for 2 weeks. As with our stay here last summer, we found it very accommodating. The kitchen and in unit laundry is invaluable for families. It is a good location, close to the airport and dining/shopping at Waikoloa. The private beach is very nice and the location is also close to A-beach, Hapuna beach, Samuel Spencer beach, etc. If you feel like staying close, the community pools and gym are also great. Would definitely recommend this townhouse and we hope to be back next summer.

Paradise...

Guest: Christine (Livermore, California)
Date of Stay: 05/07/11 Review Submitted: 05/17/11

My stay at the Mauna Lani was simply paradise. Every possible comfort that one would desire on a vacation to relax in Hawaii was available to us. The listing description pales in comparison to the reality right when you walk through the front door. This property was beautiful and secluded yet within walking distance of a perfect little grocery store that was on the level of a Trader Joe's with fresh fish, a bakery of mouthwatering treats to speciality island items. There were also shops, a restaurant as well as a place for coffee. The private beach was quiet and well maintained with a life guard, restaurant, shower and bathroom facilites as well as covered cabanas on the beach & beach lounge chairs - we never had a problem finding any of these available at a variety of times during the day. The beach wasn't too crowded either. The pool area at the property was beautifully maintained and, again, never a problem finding space at various times throughout the day. I would absolutely recommend this property to family and friends and anxiously await a return visit. My favorite part of this vacation was directions (from a local) to a residential area slightly north of the property where you were guaranteed to see the honu (sea turtles) and, when we arrived, we did - 5 of them. The resorts located along the Kohala Coast were also absolutey beautiful with happy hours and pupus (appetizer's) that fit anyone's budget! Thank you for allowing us to spend the week in your home in paradise !!!!

Review from a Mauna Lani connoisseur

Guest: Holly (Washington D.C.)
Date of Stay: 04/16/11 Review Submitted: 05/05/11

My only regret is not being able to stay longer! The condo is very lovely! The kitched is well equipped and ready for some casual, stylish dinners / lunches. We especially had fun with the BBQ which is on a lovely downstairs furnished lanai. The living area upstairs is very comfortable with plenty of space to unpack and feel at home. My husband and I especially enjoyed the upstairs lanai off of the master bedroom with a double-sized lounger. We had coffee there every morning and it felt very private. The placement of the condo and the mature landscaping made me feel very private and comfortable. Our kid’s favorite spot was the pool which is within walking distance. I think it's one of the prettiest pools I have seen. It's very large with shaded loungers. We were so pleased with our visit and can imagine sitting on the lounger in the morming with my husband listening to the amazing sounds of the birds and wind blowing through the palms. It was a perfect time. I am so happy to have such peaceful memories.

Beautiful home, lots of space, 2 very private bedrooms, main bedroom upstairs has a balcony with a double outdoor lounger to relax on. Kitchen was well equipped and large wooden dining table. Can see pool from the upstairs, close to walk to. Great gym and lap pool as well as family pool, shallow area for children and large barbecue area. Very clean suite, well maintained gardens and would love to go back. Tommy Bahamas was fun happy hour and grocery store is a nice walk to. Overall, a high class vacation.

Our stay at Kim and Gregg’s condo has been so pleasant that we are sad to have to return to cold Boston weather. The condo is beautifully decorated and has just about everything one needs to feel at home. It truly is like a “home away from home!” We look forward to returning here in our future trips to the Big Island!! We always find feedback on things to do and places to eat helpful so we hope the following will be helpful to other guests: 1. Daytrips & Adventures: If you enjoy walking/hiking – the Volcano Park is also wonderful. It’s about a 3 hour drive along scenic Rt 19 to Rt 11 in Hilo. Then allow at least a couple hours for touring – longer depending on length of trails. En route to the Volcano Park, the Mauna Loa Mae Nut Plantation on Rt 11 might also be a good visit (we got there 15 minutes before closing so did not do touring of factory, but bought quite a lot of nuts! 2. Beaches: The beach at Mauna Lani Resort is very beautiful, but small sand area (we visited at sunset but did not swim there). It’s a beautiful area for pictures at sunset. Mauna Kea also has a beautiful small sand beach, but parking is very limited so go before 9AM or after 3PM. Hapuna State Park Beach is very popular. Large sand beach that is great for swimming and riding waves. Parking fills up quickly by 10:30AM or 11AM. Spencer Beach is smaller than Hapuna with calm waters so it’s great for families with young children. All beaches are within 5-10 minutes drive from the condo. 3. Dining: We stocked up on basics from Foodland Farms and Jarmen’s Market (next to Blue Dragon Restaurant in Kawailae) for breakfasts and some dinners, but we also enjoyed dining at the following: Manta at Mauna Kea was EXCELLENT. This was our favorite restaurant. The salads of heirloom tomatoes and shaved fennel were fresh and delicious. Our entrees, Nairage and Ahi were wonderful and our chocolate soufflés with crème anglaise were the best we ever had. We booked too late for a sunset dinner but we heard that is highly recommended. Zest in Hawi was a special discovery on our last day. The ahi salad was a delicious starter and special braised pork with polenta and lasagna were terrific. Everything made on premise and prices were very reasonable – But do note that Zest accepts cash only. Browns at Fairmont Orchid was also wonderful for special dining. Their mixed drinks were great and the entrees of surf and turf (filet and lobster tail) and ahi tuna were wonderful.

Beautiful Condo - great location

Guest: T&J (Boston)
Date of Stay: 12/22/10 Review Submitted: 01/21/11

We recently returned from a great 9-days stay at Kim & Greggs' beautiful condo. The condo was even more beautiful than the pictures shown online. It was spotlessly clean and spacious, with nice open floor plan on the first level. We loved the furniture and decor! Since we like to supplement eating out with eating in, it was great that the kitchen was well equipped for cooking basic to gourmet meals. There is also a nice outdoor patio and large gas grill. Upstairs there was a huge, beautiful master suite and a beautiful guest bedroom. The condo had all the amenities (including washer & dryer so we were able to wash most of our clothes before returning home) to make our stay comfortable and relaxing --- it was truly "home away from home" for us!!The condo is located in a great area, near beautiful beaches and resorts, shopping center and casual as well as gourmet restaurants. The pools were clean and looked inviting, but we preferred the beach so we did not swim in the pools. The gym was nicely equipped. We used it couple of times (pools and gym conveniently located a few doors from the condo). Depending on what you enjoy, we hope the following feedback will be helpful to you: 1. Grocery: Foodland Farms at the nearby shopping center was relatively reasonable (discount card available at the condo or you can set up an account simply by giving a phone #). It had all the basics plus fresh produce, deli and very good fresh meats and seafoods. We bought vegetables both at Foodland Farms and at a farmer's (tent) market in the parking lot next to Blue Dragon Restaurant (located on RT 270, about 15 minutes drive from the condo). 2. Dining: For casual dining, Tommy Bahamas and Waimea, about 20 minutes drive, offered food courts, McDonald's, Thai and Korean restaurants. For 'fine' dining, we LOVED "Manta" (book early for sunset dinner if possible) at Mauna Kea resort -- the BEST meal of our trip with top-notch service! We started with the delicious ravioli, followed by fresh, delicious fennel/citrous and goat-cheese, roasted beets salads. I had a fish dish topped with fois gras and my husband had the tuna entree -- both wonderful!! We finished with the BEST chocolate soufle w/creme englaise we've ever had!! Brown's was also very good. ZEST in Hawi was fabulous -- great foods, great price and super friendly service (cash only). 3. Beaches and other: Hapuna, Mauna Kea and Spencer beaches were our favorites; zip lining w/BIE; hiking volcano park.

this condo was exactly what was promised on the website! what a beautiful place to call home for eight days. it was super clean and the furnishings and decor were lovely. we do have two small children and thought it was almost too nice but we just had them be extra careful and it was great! the owners even had some toys and pool items for our use. you do need a car to get to the beach club and to the pool areas but that is no big deal. we would have a car anyway to get to the great restaurants nearby. the only complaint is the water pressure in the showers is non-existent. both my husband and myself have thick hair and had to resort to shampooing @ the beach showers. even w/that, we wouldn't hesitate to come back and have already recommended this condo to our friends.

Spacious, Contemporary Townhouse in Hawaii

Guest: Dan (Belmont, CA)
Date of Stay: 06/14/10 Review Submitted: 06/23/10

We spent a week in this wonderful townhouse at Mauna Lani in Hawaii. The townhouse was fully furnished and many amenities were included for our use. After a trip to the local Costco for food and drinks, we were able to function as though we were at home. Having a clothes washer and dryer helped us to pack much lighter. The lanai included a built-in BBQ that we used several times to grill meat and fish from the local markets. The unit was about a 1 minute walk from the community pools/jacuzzi & gym. The location was close to several very nice resorts ( Fairmont Orchid & Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows ) and access to the private beach was great for snorkeling. The townhouse was also about a 10 minute drive from the Waikoloa Resort Area, which has several more nice hotels, 2 shopping centers, and another great beach. Being about 30 minutes from the Kona airport was also very convenient, as we were running late on the day of departure. I would highly recommend this townhouse and would definitely stay again.

Perfect Place to "Getaway"

We stayed here first week of June to attend Hawaii 70.3 Ironman. Simply put, the Boot's condo is wonderful, and is just one of those places you don't really want to tell anyone about so you can have it all to yourself. Seriously. I feel so fortunate to have been able to stay at such a wonderful place during my first visit to the Big Island. I will be back, and this will be my first choice to stay upon my return.

This condo is absolutely gorgeous. When we walked in, we felt like we were coming home. Everything we needed for our stay on the Big Island's Kohala Coast was there for our use. The condo was immaculate and beautifully furnished. The indoor and outdoor kitchens made cooking a joy. The condo grounds were well-kept, and the pools and exercise room were conveniently located. The larger complex offered additonal ammenities, such as a beach club and walking trails, restaurants and gift shops. We would love to rent this condo again on our next trip!

Staying at your condo was the perfect choice for our vacation. We have two children 8 and 6 and the accommodation and complex couldn't have been more perfect. The condo was very well appointed, lacked for nothing and the luxurious master suite gave us our own little retreat (even with two kids in the house:-)). Everything was spotlessly clean and we were very impressed with all that was provided for our stay. Having the outdoor range for grilling in the evening was perfect. We enjoyed the fact that the pool area was only a few houses away, and it provided endless entertainment for the children. (it could have done with being a little warmer). Also have the separate adult pool and well appointed fitness room worked out very well. Use of the private nearby beach is great for kids, good snorkeling and great little restaurant. There are also great public beaches 15 mins drive away. The condo is a 10 minute walk to a good shopping complex with stores for kids, groceries and Tommy Bahamas...also the proximity to the Fairmont Hotel worked out very well. Overall, we were extremely impressed with the accommodation and we're experienced travelers. The condo is very well set up, is much larger that it appears in the photographs and if travel to the big island again we'd definitely opt to stay here. We were also very impressed with Erin and her handling and representation of this property. Everything was handled immediately, no problem with booking, all questions answered promptly making the whole experience very smooth. Many thanks.

Amazing Down Time

Date of Stay: 12/05/09 Review Submitted: 09/16/10

The photos of this place are amazing, but once you are there it's like a dream come true. Everything is beautifylly kept and clean. The decor and amenities are outstanding. We had everything we needed for days at the beach and grilling at home. You are within walking distance of the Fairmont Orchid, a beautiful property and the little market, very reasonable prices for the islands. Don't miss cocktails at Tommy Bahamas and one of the best sunsets on the island. You can also see the sunset from the master suite deck as well as fireworks on New Years. The condo is spacious and has all the comforts you might need such as internet, onsite pool and spa, exercise facility and cabana. You will sleep so soundly on the luxurious beds and dine in style in the gourmet kitchen repleat with all the modern conveniences you can think of. I will definately go back again and again and again. Paradise.

We had the pleasure of staying in this lovely condo in September. The property was beautiful, the weather was perfect, and the amenities were top notch. Take time to go to the Fairmont for the amazing sunset, cocktails and PuPu's (half price on the patio from 5-6:30.) Close to two of the worlds most beautiful beaches - Hapuna Beach and Mauna Kea Beach. Both are calm and have reefs for snorkeling. We were sorry to come home!
