Location: Gulfport, Mississippi, USA View Map
Accommodations: House, 2 Bedrooms + No additional sleeping rooms avail, 1 Bath (Sleeps 4-5)
Keywords: House near beach
"The Cottage"
Just off 2nd Street(actually a block closer to the beach than the wonderful 2nd street area).
This is an old-fashioned getaway where the main purpose is to relax. The house is located in the historic Second Street area.
While this area was heavily damaged during Katrina---much of the neighborhood charm is coming back with the construction of bright new homes and beautiful landscaping.
There are several great restaurants in walking distance including Salute and the newly rebuilt Chimneys restaurant(Thank Goodness). I've listed their websites next to the map below---take a look.
This house is perfect for morning walks, sipping coffee and cocktails at sunset.
The covered deck is a spacious 10 x 26 feet with 2 outdoor ceiling fans. This is the bottom floor unit of a 3 unit building. From the deck is an expansive view of the Mississippi Sound/Gulf of Mexico.
Ryan House is a very quiet and peaceful setting and beats the heck out of staying in a Motel!

I'm back at work today...sitting at my desk and wishing I was still sitting on the big front porch at Ryan House! Your home was perfect for our needs. It was cozy, but still felt spacious enough for our family of five to spread out a little bit. We had everything we needed to prepare several meals in the kitchen. The beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and beautifully appointed. Every detail, from the plantings outside to the paintings on the walls, was lovely! Thank you for allowing us to use your beautiful home!

Ryan House, Cool Key West Style All Inclusive Home $795/Week
Year Purchased: 2000
Why the Owner Chose Gulfport
The Gulf Coast is the best place to be. From New Orleans to Destin, there is always something to see and new discoveries to be made. This location is central to all of the exciting things on the coast. The casinos are fun-the beaches, boating and local cuisine can't be beat.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The main benefit of being on the coast is to relax. We are across the street from the beach. This means you are only a boat ride away from exploring Ship Island. Island View Casino is just a few minutes away offering a great buffet and Emeril's new restaurant. We also like the outlet mall just up Highway 49.
Owner's Map of Gulfport
We have owned this property nearly a decade---it's named after our first born daughter Ryan. Ryan House, has a lot of charm and history. The house was originally built in the 30's and has weathered the 2 worst Hurricanes in U.S. history, Camille and Katrina(Andrew for Florida folks). We have renovated the house twice---one time was planned and the second was following Katrina. We have saved a lot of the character of the structure and added modern amenities. The main feature we love is the porch and those endless breezes.

Beautiful House, Quiet Neighborhood

Ryan House is a lovely home, with a great location: the beach, several restaurants and the Gulfport Transit Center are all within blocks. Yes, you can still see the remenants of Katrina in the neighborhood, but you can also see the love and care that is going into the revitalization of the area. We enjoyed Salute, the Italian restaurant about 2 1/2 blocks away, and were lucky enough to have booked our vacation during "Cruisin' the Coast." We could have sat on the front porch and watched the cars, but it was just as easy to walk to Beach Blvd. to get a front row seat. (But do take the opportunity to sit on the porch and have your morning coffee, or an evening iced tea!) We loved that the House was so centrally located, allowing for day trips into Biloxi and New Orleans. Don't want to drive? Check out the bus schedules on the bookshelf, since trolleys and buses run through Gulfport and to Biloxi very regularly. Take the trolley to Biloxi, then catch the Casino Hopper. Also check out the Gulfport Outlet Mall located on Highway 49 just off I-10. Just remember that you have to get all those purchases back into your luggage or car trunk. Best of all, the owners of the house are great! We had some minor maintenence problems that were addressed without disruption to our vacation.

My husband and I stayed in the first floor condo in early August. We loved the location and the condo was perfect! While we didn't use the second bedroom, it would have easily accomodated at least 2 more people. Lots of great restaraunts nearby - some within walking distance. Also recommend the boat ride out to Surf Island. You will sleep well in this lovely, tastly decorated home. We would love to return when we are able to stay at least a week!

Add three sisters, a most comfortable, warm, pleasant, spacious, clean, beautifully decorated house, quiet neighbors, covered front porch, nice view of the beach and what do you get? Three happy, relaxed, wishing we were still there sisters! We had a fantastic time! Can't say enough good things about the house and the owners, both are top-notch. Thanks again, we had a wonderful time!

We loved our stay at Ryan House! The neighborhood is very friendly and the house is beautiful. Day trips to Mobile, AL and New Orleans were convenient from this location. We really enjoyed getting fresh shrimp off the nearby docks and had good times at Island View Casino. Thanks to the owners for sharing this lovely retreat.

Ryan House is comfy, cozy, quiet and convenient. Everything we needed was there and we felt like we were as good as home when we walked in the gate. A very well appointed home that has been lovingly restored. The hardwood floors are beautiful and the jetted tub is nice after work or play. If you can't get a booking, it's because I am still here !!!

Ryan House is a wonderful place to stay when visiting the Gulfport/Biloxi area. It was a home away from home for 3 weeks and I didn't want to leave! Only one block away from the beach, it provided a quiet residential area to take walks in and chat with neighbors. And the proximity to the major highways and downtown Gulfport made it ideal for my stay. I loved the large jetted tub, kitchen with all that you could need, washer/dryer, and extremely comfortable beds. I will definitely be back!

This charming beach house stole my heart from the moment I walked through the white picket fence! The house is situated on a quiet street but it's just a stone's throw from the beach. The adjacent homes are similar in style (some appear to be new construction and others have been rehabbed after Katrina), and add to the quaint, peaceful getaway which is so much more appealing than staying in a giant condo building. Attention has been paid to every detail from the plantings in the pretty little yard to the pictures on the walls. Everything was clean and in like-new condition! We cooked several meals in the well-appointed kitchen and we ate at least one evening meal out on the big front porch. The bathroom was spacious and had a BIG jetted tub. The beds (especially the king in the master) were comfortable. Having a washer/dryer in the home was also a big plus. I would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives who might be traveling to Gulfport.

We stayed here in April, and we were so happy with this place and its location - close to great restaurants and within walking distance from the beach. It's charming, well-decorated and very comfortable. And the owners were very easy to work with. The price was very reasonable and unlike other places, there were no hidden fees. I definitely recommend this place.

We (2 adults & 2 teenagers) rented this property for 5 nights in June 2010. It was wonderful - a great location, well appointed with beds, TVs & all the comforts of home, and a wonderful porch for relaxing! Gulfport is a mixture of Katrina's furry and the resident's determination to take their city back. The beaches are beautiful and the local restaurants inviting. The pictures are exactly what the place looks like and the owner was available for questions, but not overbearing. And - just like is indicated in the description - NO HIDDEN FEES. I would highly recommend this property. We will be back!
