Natasha and I currently live in Ft Myers Florida and use our Cudjoe Key home as a weekend getaway. Natasha is originally from Russia and I lived all over the world as a Air Force brat. We both love Florida and the Keys but enjoy traveling all over the world. I really enjoy fishing and diving and Natasha loves water skiing and the beach. We can enjoy all of these things and more at our getaway in the islands.
Why the Owner Chose Cudjoe Key
This is the second home I have owned in the Keys, both have been in the Lower Keys. I love being close to Key West for the nightlife, restaurants and festivals. The water is just fantastic, crystal clear for diving and swimming and some of the best off-shore and back country fishing in the world.
The Unique Benefits of this House
We looked at almost 50 homes in the Lower Keys before deciding in this home. There is no other home like this in the Keys. It is architect designed and built in 1969. We have totally restored and updated the home over the last two years. It has beautiful Dade county pine wood ceiling through out. The kitchen is a dream. It has a 6 burner Dacor gas stove and convection oven, SubZero refrigerator and large butcher block wood preparation counter. All of the homes in our neighborhood are ground level, very unique for the Keys. Its means no trudging up and down stairs all day. We have a huge 1200 SF deck in the back for entertaining and relaxing. The property is located on a 50 foot wide canal. Our neighborhood is one of only two in the lower Keys that has flow through canals which make them crystal clear and clean for swimming. We have a new swim ladder making access very easy. If you want a beach, Bahia Honda State Park is 17 miles away and Key West has several Atlantic beaches and is 18 miles a away. The home has 70 foot of concrete dock so bring your boats. We have a full service marina in our neighborhood with boat ramp, store, gas, repair shop and dive store. If you are familiar with the Lower Keys, our community is called Cudjoe Gardens and is located at mile maker 21. Our canal is ocean side with no bridges direct Atlantic access with a 4.5 foot controlled depth. The back country is accessible via Bow and Kemp channels for fishing and lobstering. The reef is 9 miles off shore in about 65 foot of water for diving and spearfishing. The water depth drop from 100 foot to 1000 foot the next 10 miles out to the wall on the Florida Straits. Beautiful blue water for Dolphin, Tuna, Wahoo and sailfish fishing.
