My husband and I celebrated our 31st Anniversary at Sugarbush Cabin and have both said that it was one of the best!! The cabin is absolutely beautiful and perfect in everyway. We had never been to Lake Lure before and couldn't have been more pleased with everything. The cabin is so private and relaxing that you really don't want to leave. We're already planning on returning in the fall! Thank you so much for sharing your cabin with us! Troy and Gaylynn Spencer - Charlotte,NC

My wife and I had never spent time in the mountains for a vacation, and we looked at a number of rentals before we settled on Sugarbush cabin, and we were glad we did. The cabin itself is gorgeous, and every single comment you read about the view is accurate- it's in such a good spot for just sitting out on the deck and watching the boats go by. In contrast to some other rental properties we've stayed in, Sugarbush cabin was in great shape, perfectly clean, and well appointed. Sometimes with rentals, it's the small touches that make all the difference. It might sound trivial, but we really appreciated the fact that linens were provided, and that there were PLENTY of good-quality towels to go around. You can't go wrong with a cabin that has the kind of views that this one provides, with a hot tub, washer and dryer, gameroom, fireplace, etc. There is NO reason to even think about staying in motel anywhere around Lake Lure when you could stay at Sugarbush Cabin for the same price or probably even less, with a much better experience in the end. We visited Lake Lure, Chimney Rock State Park, Lake James State Park, the Great Smokies National Park, Gatlinburg, Asheville, Pisgah National Forest, and the waterfalls at DuPont State Forest, all of which were in easy driving distance. Even though we left over a week ago, both my wife and I are still talking about what a nice area and cabin this was- it was a great vacation experience that you should strongly consider trying for yourself- you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful log cabin, well-built, clean, well equipped ... we would very much recommend the restaurant at Esmeralda, in Chimney Rock, as well as a day trip to Black Mountain for nice little shops and many restaurants; would definitely stay here again.

Cabin was much better than expected and well decorated. View is great with lake and mountain views. We enjoyed spending time on the deck soaking up the views. Had a great time and plan to go back next year. La Strada's had great food.

We stayed at the cabin from march 9th through marth 12. It is so beautiful and relaxing . We loved the hot tub and sitting on the deck . The area is very quiet and we even saw some deer on our last day there. They were walking down sugarbrush point . My family will be back . The views of the lake are beautiful. I called rob one time for a question and he answered very quickly and was very prompt with directions and our access code to get in . Desirae

The view is breathtaking both inside and outside. It was difficult to leave the cabin even with the hiking so nearby. The cabin is in a great spot to easy hikes at Chimney Rock, the River Walk, and trails right around the corner. The owner is responsive, kitchen is stocked with utensils, dishes, pots, coffee maker, grinder and french press. I would recommend the cabin, especially around this time of year-it was quiet and peaceful for those that want to enjoy nature--many normal summer attractions run at a minimum. We watched 3 deer playing from the balcony. Definitely a great place to stay.

A lot of times when you rent a log cabin - the photos are better than the actual rental. This is not the case with Sugarbush. This property is nicer in person than it is in the photos. A solid and warm cabin- tastefully decorated, well stocked with the little things, and secluded in one of the most beautiful areas of North Carolina. The house is clean, and has all the amenities you want and then some. We were pleasantly surprised at the variety of the DVDs, and even the leftover spices that have accumulated in the kitchen cabinet. The hot tub is large, clean and works great, and is perfect after a long hike or on a cool night with a glass of bourbon. February is a very very quiet and calm time at Lake Lure- and it was the perfect time for us to getaway and enjoy Sugarbush. The unseasonably warm weather allowed for daily hikes and exploring. We loved the nearby Rumbling Bald Climbing Access park. It has great trails to explore- and it's free and right up the street. We cant wait to come BACK to Sugarbush in other seasons and explore the area even more. Rob was a pleasure to deal with in renting the cabin- no hassles- a great rate - I cant say enough about what a great experience this was for us. We will back. Stephen Charlotte, NC

Sugarbush cabin is situated in a beautiful and quiet area at Lake Lure. A true wood cabin, it is tastefully decorated and equipped with comfortable furnishings. Our family enjoyed the the game tables in the basement, as well as the movies and board games provided. The owner, Rob, was gracious in responding to questions we had about the property. We would not hesitate to return in the future, to enjoy a relaxing weekend surrounded by incredible scenery. Recommend Heavenly Hogs BBQ in Chimney Rock for excellent food.
Owner response:We are not pleased when any guest gives a rating of less than 5 stars for a stay at our property -- and this review is the first in 3 years. Almost all of the comments in our guest book and on-line reviews have been exceptionally good. We did experience other issues with these guests and learned something from the experience!

What an amazing place...views of Lake Lure on one side and mountains on the other side. My husband and 2 dogs spent a wonderful peaceful week here over Christmas. No noise of traffic whatsoever, no neighborhood noise either, just peace and quiet. Woke up to the sun rising over the deck each morning while drinking my coffee. Cabin was really comfortable with plenty of amenities, lots of games, a small pool and badminton table in the basement. It's about 45-50 minutes on a winding road to Asheville and the Biltmore estate. There are plenty of hikes nearby. Restaurant recommendations in the area also great. We will recommend to our friends and visit again. The guest book was full of satisfied guests. I can't recommend it enough!
Owner response:If you are looking for a "getaway" location where you can escape to a secluded cabin after a day of enjoyment in the NC mountains, this is it!

My husbusd and I rented this cabin back in May of 20011. Rob the owner was guick and easy to get a hold of to answer questions and sent payments to. The pictures on the web site don't really do the cabin justice. The views thoughtout the day are wonderful to watch. The place is pretty pecfect. I did bring from home food and extra paper products. We also brought clothes soap from home. We have been to Lake Lure before but the guest book left by Rob was a nice reminder of some of the slights and new resturtants. The cabin was very clean....dust under some of the furiture. I would recommend this cabin to friends. Only suggestions....more clocks around the cabin and have a couple of flashlights handy. We lost power a couple of times during week. The best part of the cabin was the hot tub and the fireplace!

Sugar Bush cabin at Lake Lure is an awesome place to visit. The cabin is very cozy and has amazing views. Just sitting on the porch in the funky wood chairs and listening to the sounds of nature was extremely gratifying. All the comforts of home and a beautiful woodsy setting. Great pizza at La Stradas. Nearby Ingle's grocery store is huge and modern. Had a really great getaway from the 9 to 5 rat race. Rob the property manager was very courteous and helpful Sugar Bush cabin is highly recommended as a lakeside getaway!!

We had an amazing stay at Sugarbush Cabin. Rob the owner was prompt with his dealings with me and kindly provided a highchair and travel cot for our baby. The Cabin had everything we needed and was very clean and spacious. The cabin is in beautiful surroundings with amazing views of Lake Lure. It has a wonderful wraparound deck and a heated spa that we used day and night. The location is perfect for a peaceful getaway. It is only a short drive from Lake Lure town, lovely restaurants (we recommend La Strada and their Baby Back Ribs!) and also Chimney Rock park. Dupont State Park, Biltmore Estate are only a 40 minute drive away. We would definitely recommend this cabin for anyone thinking about staying in this delightful area. Thanks for everything Rob!
Owner response:We are very pleased to host our international travelers at Sugarbush Cabin, including this wonderful couple. We hope to have more guests from abroad to stay with us in the coming year. Rob

We spent a week in this beautiful & relaxing cabin, March 26th - April 2nd. The cabin had everything we needed and even my 2 daughters who are 3 & 8 enjoyed playing foosball in the basement! The view was splendid from every corner of the house..lake & mountains! The location of the cabin is also perfect if you want to discover other parts of the area...you just can't get tired of driving in a such beautiful place filled with national forests, rivers and small mountain towns. I will highly recommend this cabin to anyone who just wants to relax or do a lot of activities. Sam & Meryem
Owner response:We are pleased that families also enjoy the amenities of the cabin. Some of our best "guest book comments" have been from the younger visitors who expressed delight with their stay at Sugarbush Cabin.

My fiance and I had not had the opportunity to take a vacation just the two of us in the 7 years we have been together. I wanted to find something relaxing and beautiful, where we could just relax, grill out, watch movies, and enjoy the mountains. This cabin surpassed any expectations I had. We walked in and were just amazed! The cabin was beautiful the views were beautiful, everything was just beautiful. I cannot say enough. We wished we had stayed longer. I would recommend this cabin to anyone who just wanted a nice get away from the day to day grind!

We were looking for a destination that was quiet, private, peaceful and romantic. We got all four when we stayed at SugarBush. We drove in from Charlotte in the evening and navigated the twisty and turning roads with the help of Brenda via telephone who helped us locate our destination ( She is one of the contacts for SugarBush) She stayed on the phone until we had walked through the cabin, ensuring that we were happy with how clean the cabin was. Brenda was very helpful during our stay as she would "look out" for us, by calling with Snow notificications. Mr DeLoach surprised us with a bottle of bubbly waiting for us when we arrived. What a personal touch! During our stay we took advantage of the outdoor Hot Tub, looking up at the millions of stars at night, with what seemed, not a soul around. We would take drives down to the Beach Side Grill for breakfast and enjoyed the friendly service and the "size-of-your-head" fluffy pancakes. We took a day trip to Boon and got to see SNOW, this is a big deal, because we are from S. FL. The kitchen@ the cabin had everything you would possible need. We saved numerous trips down the mountain by eating lunches and dinners @ the cabin. In the evenings we partook in scrabble games, ping pong matches, and watching old movies, all provided by the owner. ( Last of the Mohicans was filmed a few minutes from Lake Lure, @ Chimney Rock.) The only negetive comment we have on our trip, is that it ended much too quickly!! :( I wouldn't hesistate to recommend this property to our friends and family. That being said, we definately be back to celebrate more life events, or just because!
Owner response:We have now hosted several honeymoon couples at the cabin and are pleased that they chose to celebrate their special occasion with us, including this wonderful couple.

We had an amazing stay in the cabin. The views from the cabin and deck areas are simply outstanding! We made good family memories playing in the game room, watching football games in the great room, and enjoying the hot tub. The cabin offers comfortable beds, beautiful kitchen, and very nice eating area. Hiking in the area is excellent. You definitely won't make a mistake booking your trip here!

The cabin was GREAT!! The location afforded beahtiful views, but to get there was a job! The moutain roads were hard to navigate and black at night. We had rain, so the roads were very slippery. The maid service before we arrived left much to be desired as well. There was an accumulation of dust on all surfaces as well as the floors. I think you should hire a new service.
Owner response:We reported this comment to our housekeeper and she pays particular attention any complaint about cleaning. We have otherwise had mostly compliments on the condition and cleanliness of the cabin. Our housekeeper is “on call” for her cleaning services, and would have come out to make sure that it was cleaned to our guests' satisfaction, but we did not hear from these guests until after they checked out. Unfortunately, the “remoteness” of the cabin, which affords privacy and a “getaway” location, also means curvy mountain roads - as are many of the roads in Lake Lure. We have had a few reports that this was part of the “adventure” of their trip to our “tree house” cabin on the ridge overlooking the lake. We are always available to assist our guests with directions or other issues during their stay at Sugarbush Cabin and encourage them to contact us if they need assistance.

As a widow traveling alone with a young daughter, it is very important to me to find a place to stay that is safe, well maintained and close to enough attractions to keep my daughter entertained. Having read the reviews of others who have stayed at this property and having seen the photos on display I knew that it was a nice place, however I was pleasantly surprised at how gorgeous the cabin really is. The photos do not do it justice. After driving 9 hours from Maryland we arrived at Sugarbush Cabin and I was delighted by the welcoming entrace into the cabin. Once inside I couldn't believe how clean and beautiful it is. The views are mesmerizing, especially from the loft which is my favorite location. The decks which surround a great deal of the cabin extend out over the mountainside and make you feel as though you are part of the nature around you. The hot tub is clean and fabulous and very private, as is the entire property. Homes are close by but the level of privacy makes you feel secluded. Inside every possible comfort has been provided and my daughter and I instantly felt comfortable and relaxed. The kitchen is amazing, beautiful and well equipped and the bathrooms are not what you would expect in a cabin, they are very nice. We were surprised at the number of games and videos, books, etc that were provided for us to enjoy while here. We have been busy checking out the fun activities nearby. Chimney Rock State Park is right here and Asheville is less than 30 miles away. There are opportunities to hike everywhere and we have enjoyed numerous restaurants filled with friendly welcoming people and laid back atmospheres. I would recommend Sugarbush Cabin to everyone. I really don't feel that I could have found a nicer, more beautiful place to stay at Lake Lure. It is most definitely a huge value for the money and the kind of place you will want to return to.
Owner response:We continue to be pleased with the compliments from our guests about their relaxing stay at Sugarbush Cabin. We look forward to having our welcome guests return to enjoy the cabin and the beautiful Lake Lure area.

My family and I enjoyed Sugarbush for many reasons but one was the two raccoons that visited late one evening on the deck. They were nearly tame and did not offer to bother anyone. Deer, wild turkeys and other wildlife was a joy to behold as well as the lovely fall leaves. I recommend Sugarbush Cabin to anyone wanting solitude and relaxation.

Our 10 and 8 year old daughters commented on what a great vacation this was! There was so much to do nearby and we loved coming home at the end of the day! Hiking, boating, swimming, fishing, this area has it all. We highly recommend the cabin for a family vacation.
Owner response:We are happy to be able to recently add additional activities for children that stay at Sugarbush Cabin, including movies and games, ping pong and foosball. In addition to the great recreational activities at Lake Lure, this makes our cabin even more fun for your family vacation! Thanks from your Sugarbush Cabin vacation team

My husband and I enjoyed this cabin immensely! The location is ideal. Close to the lake, hiking, shopping, and nature. From the decks we could see deer each day of our stay. There is plenty to do. If you choose to do nothing, this is a great place to sit back and relax. The loft with its very large windows was my favorite morning hangout with a cup of tea and my laptop! Two wooden rockers on the front deck provided yet another wonderful place to unwind after a busy day. The hot tub is in a great location on the property – very private. I found peace and tranquility. A word of caution … time passes quickly. Take the time to slow down and enjoy!
Owner response:We have some great pictures of wildlife from this couple that we will post to our listing. We also enjoy the privacy of the hot tub!

Wow, we recently stayed at this cabin, and let me tell you, this pictures do not do it justice- you just have to see it to believe the beauty of this place. We wanted to be inspired by awesome views and also to have a place to feel at home in; this was perfect. The hot tub was so wonderful in the early evening and we had coffee on the decks each morning to start our day. The decor is beautiful and I especially loved reading in the loft and looking at the mountains and the lake. We will go back!

My wife and I had the honor to be the first guests to stay at this new cabin. The cabin was wonderful. We have rented several cabins in the NC Mountains and Sugarbush has a lot of upgrades you do not normally find in a rental. The layout is great with an open floor plan and a spacious modern kitchen. The views from the wrap around deck are spectacular and can only be beat by the truly breath taking views of Lake Lure and the mountains from the loft. The master bedroom and bathroom are large and comfortable. Weather you decide to dine inside or out, the views will make any meal special. The hot tub was a wonderful way to relax and watch the lake. I would recommend this cabin to anyone, but especially to a couple looking for a romantic weekend away!
