Trout fishing trip

Guest: Lee P.
Date of Stay: 05/17/12 Review Submitted: 05/22/12

Great house in a great location. Very quiet, rarely see traffic and within 10 minutes of everything Heber has to offer. Mike is a very courteous owner. He sincerely wants his clients to have a wonderful stay in his house. I live in rural Missouri. For me, the stay was as if the Little Red was running through my backyard the past the 4 days. I would recommend this house to anyone wanting to enjoy any part of what Heber Springs has to offer. For us, it was the fishing. Eat at Mack's and Klaser's while you are in Heber. The pictures of the house and property do not do it justice. The house is much more spacious than photos imply. If outside space is what you need, how does nearly 5 acres of flat, grassy lawn next to the house sound? Clean and beautiful, just what everyone wants on vacation.

Mother's Day weekend

Guest: Family Fun (Tyler, TX)
Date of Stay: 05/11/12 Review Submitted: 05/14/12

My family had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend at the Little Red Tree House! My boys came from Missouri and I came from Texas to meet for the weekend. They fished in the rain on Saturday, we enjoyed the hot tub, we loved walking around the property, we ate most meals on the picnic table on the deck so we could be outside and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. We loved it and hope to make this an annual meeting spot!

Perfect weekend getaway

Guest: Momma (Texas)
Date of Stay: 04/20/12 Review Submitted: 05/11/12

My husband and I took our daughter and 5 of her college friends here for the weekend. We had a blast fishing with a guide on the Little Red River. It is very unique because the water that is released at Greer's Ferry is very cold and the water stays between 48 and 52 degrees year round. This means no mosquitos and no snakes near/in the river...so pleasant. The house was just as it was advertised. The grill needs replacing, but it still cooked up our trout to perfection. We played games in the living room and hot-tubbed on the deck. BE AWARE of the river rising up to 4 feet in about 30 minutes when they release water from the dam. I would never recommend swimming or fishing from the dock...just too dangerous...other than that....it was awesome.

My Fiance and I stayed at this marvelous home over spring break. And I would call it a home as it had everything you needed as if at home. The home, land, stocked lake, dock, hot tub, and river were absolutely first rate. I can't say enough about how wonderful this place is. We will definitely be going back.

I had a group of guys down for the weekend. We had a great time. The fishing dock was great, the house was clean, the kitchen stocked with spices, and the two grills outside made feeding a large group of guys easy. This place exceeded my expectations and I will be back again.

Enjoyed the dock fishing, the wonderful serene feeling in the area while walking, the lake across the street, and the relaxing living room. Four couples had plenty of space and the kitchen was roomy and easy to work in for our dinners. It's wonderful that this house is shared!

Little Red House is Wonderful

Guest: Carol (Austin, TX)
Date of Stay: 05/13/11 Review Submitted: 05/17/11

The description of the property is as we found it. The house was fully stocked - linens, dishes, etc. The Owner was amazing in helping us with questions. The property was well-maintained and fit our needs perfectly. We had an amazing time. We did not explore the area around the little red house - we brought in food, cooked, played games, and enjoyed the property. The lake/river was very high, so we didn't feel comfortable using the boat, but the deck was great to sit out on and we grilled on the gas grill. We would recommend this property to anyone interested in visiting the Heber Springs area. We want to rent it again ourselves in the future!!

Owner response:Carol, Thank you so much for the kind words. Come back anytime. m

We stayed May 2011 at the Little Red Tree House and loved it! The house is really well stocked with every kitchen item you need, an ipod with a ton of great songs, plenty of space. Went with 3 other couples and had plenty of room to spare. Mike was great at getting back to us immediately if we had any questions. Just can't tell you how much we enjoyed it. Already trying to get another trip together for the fall!

Great Place to Spend Spring Break

Date of Stay: 03/13/11 Review Submitted: 04/20/11

My family spend our spring break at the Little Red Tree House and it was great. Incredible spot on the river made catching trout from the dock during low generation easy. Easy walk to wade fish at the shoals also. Jacuzzi was a great way to relax at the end of the day. Looking forward to our next trip to the Little Red Tree House.

I have to say "ditto" to all the previous reviews. The house was very clean and comfortable. The area is quite and beautiful. If you like to fish, this is the place. The most common phrase I've used is "it exceeded our expectations". We'll be back - the sooner the better !! One bad thing to say is that it rained one day - Mike, please fix that before I come back. And I believe he will.

My husband and I and our children and a bunch of grand kids had a fabulous time. Good fishing- trout and bass. We had plenty of room to be comfortable in and sleeping was the best I have had in ages. We all laughed a lot.We walked and roamed this private area which was fun. We ladies took turns cooking and cleaning up. The house is adorable. There is TV, movies to watch, games and books to read. It is the ideal place to get away. We would love to do this again!

We have been visiting this location in June for the past three years. My wife and I live in the DFW metro area but we love the outdoors, so this is a great place for us and our family. I grew up in Bryant, Arkansas and have been fishing the Little Red since I was a boy so I really enjoy coming back. The house is beautiful and rustic yet very comfortable. The private boat dock makes a great fishing spot for everyone to enjoy. We always catch trout in the river, and bass in the fishing pond adjacent to the property. I have seen several bald eagles fishing with me but I was catching more fish! The hot tub is nice for winding down after a long day of fishing. We look forward to coming back at the same time next year.

How much do we love the Little Red Treehouse? Let us count the ways. We love it so much that we're reluctant to tell you about it, lest we have to compete with you for future dates. We just discovered it a few months back, have already stayed twice, and have booked it again for next month. We've been going to the Little Red and Heber Springs area for over 30 years, and have never found anything comparable. I'm an avid fly fisherman as is my son, and my wife and daughter are anything but, so it's always been difficult to stay somewhere that meets the whole family's needs. Because the Treehouse is so well situated on the river, we can all do what we love. Less than 100 yards from the Treehouse is a beautiful lake where you can hop into a jonboat and fish for bass and bluegill (We release them all for those who come next). That's perfect when Greer's Ferry is generating and wading in the river isn't possible. My wife goes on and on about the kitchen, the fireplace, the bedroom, the deck and the dock. She loves to read, listen to music, watch the big screen TV, take long walks/runs in an area that's safe, and will even fish off the dock if I bait her hook. We like to do other things in the area as well. We rent a pontoon boat on Greers Ferry Lake, take a lunch along w/ some adult beverages, tool around the lake (of course I'm trolling a crankbait all the while). We motor out to Sugarloaf Mtn in the middle of the lake and hike to the top. A beautiful spot. We usually drive into town, 10-15 mins for dinner at some point. There are several good places. At Cafe Klaser you can pay a few bucks for a "membership" (in an otherwise dry county} and have a drink if you so desire - good meal too. Most of the time, however, we're perfectly happy to play all day near the Treehouse, cook veggies and steaks on the gas grill, lie on our backs on the dock looking up at the stars, soak in the hot tub, and talk about how we've got to do this more often. Thank you! ken & sue

The easiest comment would be "ditto, ditto, ditto to all of the above"! We could not have been more pleased with our stay at the The Little Red Tree House and have declared this will be the only place we will stay in the future because it is just perfect. From the fireplace, fully stocked wood pile, grills and grill tools - anything and everything was there to make our stay as easy and welcoming as one could dream. There were two couples in our party and we love to cook and eat. Normally in rentals we have to bring all the kitchen gadgets you need, but next time we know we can leave it at home because the kitchen had all the right stuff. No detail has been missed. The owners were so helpful and gracious while making the reservations and even after our visit that we felt much more like we had stayed at a good friend's home for the weekend. My only recommendation is extend your stay a few more days because you will not want to leave.

Our family spent Thanksgiving weekend at this wonderful home. The fishing was terrific, and so convenient with the availability of a boat. The fireplace works like a dream next to a large tv perfect for football. Afternoons on the front porch was the perfect place to wind down after a day on the river. Two nights we sat around the firepit and roasted marshmallows.

If you are looking for a comfortable, clean and secluded place to take your family, this a great property. The house is situated perfectly on a prime section of the Little Red River where the trout fishing is outstanding. The owners are very nice and quick to answer any questions that you may have. I'm already planning another trip this Fall and can't wait to return!

I would echo the great comments about this property. We visited here recently for the weekend. There were in our party 2 couples, one with a toddler, one single adult and a dog, who was no doubt even happier than the rest of us to get to be there. He roamed around freely the whole weekend and was just in hog heaven exploring everything. The property is very private as the front yard is several acres back from the very quiet street. The house is comfortable, spacious, and has all you need for a great stay. There are 4 bedrooms and two baths, a large dining area and a spacious kitchen, and a comfy great room with flat panel tv. The wrap around deck is really nice - a great place to while away the afternoon. The landscaped yard leading down to the dock is charming and then of course there's the river right there. The house sits at a shoal where lots of fishermen like to wade in and fish. The mist in the morning is wonderful, and sunset in the evening is beautiful. Really all in all a great place to get away to. I definitely intend to return.

The Little Red Tree House is a fabulous place to spend your vacation. It is truly a home away from home. The house sits in a secluded neighborhood on a huge wooded lot overlooking the Little Red River. When we first arrived around dusk on the first day, I counted no less than 20 deer on the drive through the neighborhood. The house has a comfortable den with a large flat panel TV with cable. There is a large dining table that opens into the kitchen. We like to cook and prepared multiple meals in the fully stocked kitchen. There is a gas grill on the large deck that covers two sides of the house as well as a hot tub. There are stone steps down to dock on the river. We were able to cast directly from the dock and catch bunches of trout. This was great fun for the kids but kept me very busy baiting, tying and fetching. There is a very large bedroom with 2 double beds downstairs that handled four kids easily. They also had a full bath. There are 2 nice bedrooms and another full bath upstairs. The house is well laid out and it is possible for some folks to sleep in and others to get an early start fishing. The house is conviniently located near the town of Heber Springs with restaurants and a Walmart close by. I would strongly recommend staying here.

I wanted to be the first to give my review of the Little Red Tree House. My wife and I had the pleasure of staying here during her spring break from teaching school. I am by no means a outdoors person, but she is and absolutely loved the property. The expansive house met every need we wanted in a vacation home. We had a full and very large kitchen so we could stay in and cook. Spacious rooms and a large living room were my areas, as I love to read. The Living room is lined with two large walls of nothing but glass, so you can look out onto the little red river, its a breathtaking site to behold when your relaxing reading. There is also a Big Screen Flat Panel TV with Cable and DVD player for the nights you want to watch a movie. The Hot Tub on the porch was our favorite thing to do as we could sit in there and listen to the river and enjoy the crisp clean air. My wife woke up every morning at 6am to walk to the private dock and fish on the river. There are a great number of things to do as a couple or a family in town, if you want to get out and explore. Hiking the Sugarloaf, explorer lead fishing trips, water skiing, and even a movie theater. And dont worry about food, there are plenty of restaurants around the house and Walmart is a 8 minute drive, so if you forgot something, no worries. We had a blast and look forward to going again next year.
