We arrived in a torrential downpour accompanied by lightning but Roy, our host, kindly met us outside the door so we could easily find the entrance to our apartment. He was anxious to make us comfortable and supplied the kitchen with some basics including fresh milk, juice, cereal and coffee. Much appreciated! The three bedrooms and two bathrooms well equipped and my husband and I, three adult children and two grandbabies were comfortable. The kitchen is good sized, but eating area a bit limited for all of us, but we worked around that minor detail- there was even a booster seat for baby! The outdoor garden was wonderful and the location is ideal- a quick block or two from Bedford and lots of restaurants, near the river so the views are magnificent, and it was blessedly quiet. Thank you for a wonderful stay, Roy!

A Wedding Week In Brooklyn
A Wedding Week In Brooklyn
A family wedding took us to Brooklyn this month. My wife and I and our two adult daughters were looking for a place that would give us some space, comfort and access to Manhattan. The Gallery Guesthouse was this have even more. The listing described the unit as a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom ground floor apartment. I would describe it more as a walk out basement unit. We had no problem as NYC in July is steaming hot and the lower level made the apartment that much cooler. The apartment was well outfitted with comfortable vintage furniture. Each bedroom had its own TV. It would have been nice to have had a IPod player for our own music but this is a minor point. The kitchen was well equipped with breakfast fixings provided to us (fresh baked goods, coffee, milk, OJ and butter). We found only 2 wine glasses on our arrival but a call to Roy brought 4 more as well as a complimentary bottle of wine and some beer. Thank you very much, Roy. Each of the 3 bedrooms had its own air conditioner which kept things cool for sleeping. The access to the private back garden was a bonus and we used it for morning coffee and evening cocktails. Roy had advised us before we arrived that there was exterior work being done on the property. This never bothered us as our access was through a locked gate to the back of the house. Security was excellent and we never felt uncomfortable in any way. The district of Williamsburg in Brooklyn provides many bars, cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance. We ate out once and the wedding reception was held at another restaurant. Though I had been to Manhattan previously, I had never been to Brooklyn. The Bedford subway stop is the last stop before mid town Manhattan. It is a easy 10 minute from the guesthouse. We bought a subway pass for the week and travelled all over Manhattan and Brooklyn including Coney Island. The week pass was $30.00 for unlimited use for both buses and subway. The Gallery Guesthouse is in a quiet residential part of Williamsburg with little if any street noise. Roy was helpful to us on check to walk us through the property, help us set up our wifi connection and to answer any questions we had. I would recommend the property to my friends and family.

Gallery Geust house review- Excellent!
Gallery Geust house review- Excellent!
This was our first use of VRBO so we did not know just how good it could be. Roy was great to work with and very accommodative. The apartment was updated vintage in nature with nice antiques but new baths and kitchen where we hung out and had several meals in. The local restaurants are varied, plentiful and most deliver quickly. The beds and bedding are new and very comfortable, 1st class. When we arrived, Roy made sure we had coffee, juice, butter and bread for our first morning there. Fro warmer weather there is an expansive, beautiful patio/garden for outdoor dining or lounging, a l real plus. The area may be the best in Brooklyn with the L line subway just 10 minutes or less away and the J line to the lower East side over off of Broadway and Marcy, a little further and less pleasant walk. The apartment was spotless, well equipped and very user friendly. We come to Brooklyn every year and this is where we are going to stay from now on. Again thank you Roy! Lee Keating

Our family group of 5 adults ( visiting from Australia ) found the accommodation excellent - it was exactly as described in the listing description on the website - the property was very clean and well maintained -the kitchen and laundry facilites were all new - it was very close to Manhattan via the local subway-we would have no hesitancy in recommending it to our friends and other family members

We were a party of 5 and the accomodations were perfect for us. The place was very clean! The neighborhood was very quiet and it was so easy to walk a couple of blocks to catch the subway day or night. There were a couple of nights we took a cab back to the house just becasue we were so tired from walking all day and the cab fare was very reasonable! I highly recommend the Gallery House! We will most definately stay at the Gallery House our next trip back to NY!! Thank you Roy!

Beauty off Bedford
Beauty off Bedford
Our extended family stayed for one delightful week in this 3 bedroom apartment just off Bedford Ave. The apartment was sparkling clean with modern bright bathrooms and a well supplied kitchen that was big enough for all 7 of us to gather and cook in. The owner met us on arrival and made sure we knew how to get in touch with him for any questions. Although the street outside is quiet, Bedford Ave. is only a short walk (less than 2 blocks) away and offers many kinds of restaurant and shopping experiences. Roy recommended several restaurants as options for celebration dinners of which we chose two; Aurora and Mercado On Kent. Aurora was very accommodating to our group of 8, appropriate portion size and beautiful presentation. We went with just 4 to Mercado On Kent. featuring Northern Spanish /Basque cuisine. Fabulous!! Great for foodies. Very authentic (and tasty) tapas presentation. It was too loud for in depth conversation but who wanted to talk with food like that! We had a great experience and would highly recommend this VRBO property. Thanks Roy!!

I rented this flat for several reasons - proximity to our son's wedding venue in Long Island City, nearer to his home in Ditmas area, the ability to house our family, and space for helping with wedding decorations. The three bedrooms were perfect for the group. We had our first daughter's family staying the whole time (with our 1.5 year old grandchild), and our younger daughter and husband staying on the night of the wedding. It was absolutely enjoyable - enough space for all, room for my wife to make 50 flower arrangements in the garden, and quiet enough to get the rest we needed. The location in Williamsburg was perfect for us - easy on street parking, near to the vibrant Bedford Street, and walkable to almost everything needed. The owners were very helpful and gracious – when we requested a baby crib at the last minute since we couldn't fit another thing in the car, they were on the spot with the perfect solution. The property is very well kept. The linens and towels were of high quality, the rooms are spacious, the appliances are more than sufficient, and the overall cleanliness was as expected - pristine. The three bedrooms are set off from each other and the general living quarters, so they are quiet. Each is equipped with a flat screen TV (which we didn't use - so can't vouch for the service), the wireless internet service was adequate for our needs, better than most hotels but not up to the speeds I have at home, and the temperature of the place was perfect the whole trip. There is always one or two things that are unexpected. One proved to be the cell service in the area, which is spotty at best. We had to find the small patches of reception to use the cell phones. (Garden was the most consistent) Luckily, there is a landline which helped in communication. This is definitely not a problem with the property, just the infrastructure of the cell providers. The other dilemma, which is only an issue if you have young children, is the bathrooms are equipped with showers only. We solved this with a plastic container which we filled as a bath for our grand-daughter. The neighbors were friendly by NY standards, so it made the experience an enjoyable one. I can highly recommend the property. It can easily sleep 6, not sure about 8. It is walkable to an exciting part of town. It has easy access to Manhattan by public transportation or by car. This met all of our expectations. Everyone enjoyed our six night stay.

Great stay in Williamsburg
Great stay in Williamsburg
6 of us recently stayed in this apartment and highly recommend it. The property was clean, comfortable and well maintained. We were very satisfied with the amenities provided and found the owner extremely pleasant and helpful. In addition, it's located in a vibrant part of Brooklyn that has many restaurants, shops, grocery stores, bars and music. If you want to venture to Manhattan, this is just a short train ride away. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Great apartment in Williamsburg. Very close to restaurants, shops, markets and the subway was only about a 10 minute walk away -- from there it only takes about 7 minutes to get into the heart of Manhattan. Loved the apartment itself -- nice big bedrooms with a great mix of antique furniture, old wood flooring but brand new renovated bathrooms and kitchen. Great little backyard too. It felt very homey! Would definitely recommend this place -- there were 6 of us staying there and it still felt very spacious.
