On the southeastern end of St. Thomas, lies the private beach of Cowpet Bay. Our villa is surrounded by lush tropical plantings and has an expansive view of the surrounding sapphire seas and neighboring islands.
Whether you are looking for an intimate island hideaway or a well-situated home base from which to go forth on adventures and exotic explorations, our Cowpet villa is for you. Cowpet's beach offers swimming, snorkeling, sunfish rentals, and kayaking. Chairs and chaise lounges are provided, along with plenty of sun or shade under the palm trees lining the beach.
Our villa is spacious for a couple, roomy for two couples, or well suited for a family of four. The view is sensational! A seaside gallery provides an open-air covered balcony with both outdoor dining for four and comfortable seating from which to gaze out to the scattered islands of St. James, St. John, and Tortola. The British Islands are our neighbors and water taxi services, rental boats, or ferries can easily transport you to their nearby shores.
Cowpet Bay is conveniently located within walking distance to The Caribbean Fish (scheduled to open 12/2011) - an open-air restaurant on the beach serving breakfast lunch and dinner and to Sangria's beach cafe. The elegant resort hotel, The Ritz Carlton, is also within walking distance. The nearby village of Redhook is minutes away by car where fishing charters, boat rentals, restaurants, bars, and markets provide access to every amenity. Catch the local ferry departing every hour from the Redhook dock for a day or evening of fun on St. John.
In downtown St. Thomas, the town of Charlotte Amalie located along the waterfront, provides the most exciting shopping in the world where duty-free status affords remarkable pricing for bargain hunters of the finest names in crystal, china, jewelry, watches, cameras, clothing, and more.
A 15-minute drive from Cowpet will take you to the spectacular Mahogany Run Golf Course. Cliff-side tee boxes, tropical forests, lakes, and unparalleled ocean views create a dramatically challenging, 27-hole course for your enjoyment.

Why the Owner Chose Cowpet Bay
Our family has owned our place in St. Thomas since its construction in the late 1960s. Our parents brought us here as children and now we enjoy bringing our children, as well. It has been our home away from home for many years and we have very fond memories of Cowpet Bay and the neighboring smaller islands before they became popular tourist destinations.

We enjoy our own beautiful beach and the wonderful amenities, particularly the restaurant, Robert's, and beach cafe, Aynslie's. Red Hook is just minutes away making an easy trip to St. John via ferry.

We love coming to St. Thomas for a bit of wind-down time of fun and relaxation. In addition to our own fabulous beach, our favorite places include the beaches in St. John, the new public beach, Smith Bay, a day at Maegan's Bay - followed by a milkshake stop at the dairy on the way out - and a fun-filled day of island hopping and snorkeling by boat which can be rented by the day.

We went to sail in Rolex, had a great time at their apartment. View is great, everything needed is in the apartment, cleaning is done frequently (we did not have much time and strength to do our own), owners are helpful and act quickly when needed (key broke in lock, sent someone to open within one hour). Highly recommended. Thanks.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers.
Stayed there twice, and hope to return soon.

The rental property is exactly as it appears in the listing photos. Actually, it is more spacious than portrayed. The furnishings and decorations are nice on the eye and comfortable. Our first stay there was as a couple. After viewing our photos and listening to our repeated praises of the property, two lovely young ladies (my friend's daughter & granddaughter) insisted on joining us for our second visit the following year. They too were quite pleased with the accommodations and the lovely. uncrowded beach area. The property is very clean and well-maintained inside and out. The landscaping is beautiful. Once again we filled our camera disks with lots of pictures of the multitude of various colored flowers and plants growing profusely everywhere outside the property. While providing an excellent view of the beach and water, the balcony is quite private. And, there always seems to be a pleasant breeze there. Personally, I would be happy to spend DAYs on that balcony just enjoying the beautiful water views. Ainsley's Restaurant, right on the beach, is a good place to grab a bite of lunch....or you may prefer sipping an afternoon cocktail while you watch the iguanas sunbathing. Robert's American Grill is a favorite among the locals and for good reason. The food and service are excellent. Be sure to check out Thrill of the Grill night which is featured on Mondays. The grill and buffet is set up right on the beach. We made one or 2 trips to RedHook for dinner. Otherwise, we utilized the well-equipped kitchen to prepare breakfast, some lunches and a few evening meals. In addition to sunbathing on the beautiful beach or lolling in a lounge chair beneath the shade of a palm tree, about 30 feet out into the water one can enjoy excellent snorkeling. The property description is quite thorough; however, the few questions we had were promptly addressed by the owner. We have already recommended this property to several friends and relatives…and hope they invite us to tag along when they decide to utilize this lovely property. If you are thinking about staying there, you'd best make your reservations soon, or at least before my next stay. I'm afraid I'll never, ever be able to leave that balcony again! The two times we stayed here were undoubtedly the best vacations I've ever had.
