Owners that care about their guests...

Date of Stay: 03/18/12 Review Submitted: 03/30/12

A totally great experience. From the booking to the deposit refund- all communication with the owners was efficient, prompt and caring. The property was extremely well-maintained- very clean- you would not know that it was a pet-friendly place. The manual about the house (operations etc) and activities was the most comprehensive that I have ever seen. The photos make the rooms look bigger than they actually are- but was not an issue. Loved that we got use of the preferred parking pass- we would come back from Sierra for lunch and then head back for the slopes! The use of the sleds was also generous for the incredibly convenient "sled park." $18 per car- so load up the kids- very good value! I actually booked this time based on reviews- and decided that it is the best way to get a good place. Thank you for a wonderful week- the weather even cooperated and we had plenty of new snow and sun!

The Chalet was perfect for my family(4 adults, 2 toddlers). We had such a wonderful time sledding right on the property. Sierra was only a 5 minute drive away which was also a plus. We are looking fwd to our next stay! Thanks again!!

Our group consisted of children, teenagers, a dog and adults enjoying the house for 10 days. We've experienced no snow to lots of snow during our stay. On both occasions, we've always found ways to have fun inside and outside. Echo Lake is a must hike. I'll bet a summer stay would be awesome! Thank you for making your beautiful home available.

Perfect Place!

My extended family of 12 (9 adults and 3 babies) stayed at the Echo Summit Chalet during MLK Weekend. The pictures of the Chalet is absolutely accurate. The chalet has a lot of personality in its architecture and interior decoration. It was beautiful and clean when we arrived. There were more than just a few amenities. The boys enjoyed playing foosball. The kitchen was well-stocked with all the amenities needed to put together a quick meal. I highly recommend a stay here. It is well worth the 25 or 50 dollars you'd save renting some other generic, small, and dirty place.

We had a wonderful time at the Echoo Summit Chalet. The lodging was great. Four adults, six kids and plenty of room. Beautiful cabin, fully equiped kitchen, looks even better then the pictures. Has everything that's needed for a perfect winter vacation. Located in a very nice clean and quite area. I would definitely recommend this cabin to all of my friends.

Amazing Home!! Perfect place to relax and have some fun in the snow!!

We had a wonderful time during our weekend stay in November. We were all delighted to see snow so early in the year and thrilled that Travis and Christine have a home with all the snow equipment - we were out playing in the snow and exploring the surrounding areas. The home is also very close to the casinos, so we definitely took advantage of that and tried our luck at the tables! :) Travis and Christine were both very helpful and provided our group with all the necessary information before, during and after our trip. We had an amazing time and they really made it so much easier and enjoyable by providing all the information and an amazing home!! We are definitely looking forward to staying here again!! We loved it and highly recommend it!!

Fun times in a beautiful environment

Guest: Vacationers (Central Valley, CA)

The chalet is a nice and inviting place to stay after spending the day exploring the beautiful environment in which you are located. Echo Lake, Horsetail Falls, Tahoe, hiking trails, photography, fishing, ... too many activities to list. We have already discussed exploring the area during the winter season as it looks like it could be just as fun and exciting.

My church group and I spent last weekend at the chalet, and it was perfect. We had enough room for 13 people to sleep comfortably. The surroundings were beautiful and Echo Lake (a bit more than a mile away) was a lot of fun. As a plus, you feel like you're in Tahoe but without all the crowds and traffic. Definitely recommended.

The Perfect Getaway….

Guest: Mr Sunnyvale (Sunnyvale, CA)
Date of Stay: 06/15/11 Review Submitted: 06/20/11

My wife and I just had a perfect getaway to the Echo Summit Chalet. The chalet is just a short drive from the Bay Area (a little over 3 hours). The chalet makes you feel miles from everything, when in fact you are very close to Hwy 50 and just 10 minutes to Lake Tahoe. The chalet is beautiful inside and has everything you could need, including a foosball table. However you can spend hours just sitting on the deck enjoying the view. The chalet is great for a romantic getaway, break from the hectic city life, spending time with family, or providing you with a launching pad to visit Lake Tahoe or going skiing or hiking. We just had a great time!!

Memorial Day Weekend 2011

Date of Stay: 05/27/11 Review Submitted: 05/30/11

We had a wonderful time!!! 7 inches of fresh snow!!! We walked all around the absolutely beautiful area (snow park just down the road) and hardly anyone around, so peaceful and quite. The dogs (lab and lab/gsp) had so much fun! They were off-leash in most areas as there was no one around to tell us they had to be on-leash, yeah! We have rented several different vacation homes so we always pack extra household items just in case but, this rental had everything needed. South Lake Tahoe is just down the road for those who love to gamble and of course has numerous restaurants. We definitely will be back!!!

So Close & Convenient to Sierra at Tahoe!

Guest: Vicki (SF Bay Area)
Date of Stay: 12/26/10 Review Submitted: 01/01/11

If your main mission is to ski and ride at Sierra at Tahoe, this is the place to stay! Less than 2 miles away, we could just roll out of bed instead of having to wake up extra early to fight Lake Tahoe congestion. The Chalet's complimentary use of their Preferred Parking Pass was a wonderful luxury! We only had to walk several yards from our car to the resort...the regular parking lots were full by 9:00 am during peak time and folks had to park on the road and take a very long hike up with their gear. And after a vigorous day on the slopes, we hopped in the car and were warm & cozy in the Chalet while South Lake Tahoe guests were still in traffic trying to get down the hill. The owners are very thoughtful and stock the Chalet with extras that you may have forgotten, such as shampoo or toothbrushes. There were communal condiments in the fridge and spices, oils, coffee, sugar, teas, microwave popcorn, etc. in the pantry which are always a welcoming touch and convenience. As a family we always appreciate being able to easily prepare meals and save money with such a graciously stocked kitchen. Our two kids enjoyed the large selection of DVDs, games and puzzles. They also had fun sledding and playing in the snow right outside the door and then coming back in for hot cocoa and then scampering outside for more winter wonderland. It's so nice not having to load up the car to get to great snow. We also appreciate the owners understanding that dogs are also a family members. It's great to be able to bring our little dog along and have him be welcomed. We've been vacationing in Tahoe for over 3 decades and have grown tired of the congestion and density by the Lake. It was a real pleasure to have found the Chalet, away from it all, but so close to our favorite ski resort. We're also looking forward to staying in the summer to hike the many excellent trails.

Beautiful house - Great location

June 2010: We had a great time at the Chalet! The house is beautiful. It was great having some toys for the little ones, just enough to keep them entertained when we weren't on the trails or at the beach. The trail at Echo lake is beautiful. The one at Horsetail Falls is beautiful too. It is close enough to SLT to be convenient but not too close to be too busy. The kitchen is great and so is the deck. Thank you!

BEAUTIFUL HOME / PLACE JUST AS NICE AS THE OWNERS!!!

Guest: Berkley Mich (Berkley Michigan)
Date of Stay: 05/17/10 Review Submitted: 06/01/11

What a lovely home. Although we were planning on watching the 2011 Amgen Bike Tour in Tahoe and doing a few days of hiking -and instead watched the race get cancelled because of snow, ice and cold temps ...and the hiking required snow shoes - this place was heaven. The place was immaculate - and all the dishes, glasses and all the things you might be a tad leery about when staying in a stranger's home, looked brand new. I only wish my cupboards looked so neat and organized. We've stayed in vacation condos on all of the Hawaiian islands, Mexico and have the same condo in Myrtle Beach, SC for two weeks every year - and I promise you - these owner's took into consideration the guest's every need. Something we haven't been fortunate to find everytime we've vacationed. Nothing worse than checking into your rental and not having the most basic of items -- toilet paper?? There is no need to stop at the local grocery store and spend lots of money on "travel size" condiments. Yes folks, there were salt and pepper shakers and other condiments for the guest's use. Sometimes the little things turn out to be the important things. Just a note about the owners as well. They made calls and even made special trips to the Caltrans office to secure passes for us to get over Echo summit - which was closed due to construction - saving us lots of travel time by avoiding the detour over to Tahoe. While in Tahoe, we recevied an email updating us on the weather - alerting us it might be time to work on the biceps as more snow was on the way. Yes, the location of the shovel proved to be invaluable. When I contacted the owner at work about a dumb question about the heat/furnace - he didn't seem annoyed. He actually returned my call immediately. So many times owner's /management companies collect the rental fees and then -beware - you are on your own. No air conditioning in August in South Carolina and it's 105 degrees with 99% humidity? Good luck --- hurry on down to Walmart and get some of those $20 fans. Not at the Echo Chalet ....these folks went above and beyond for us. We can't say enough positive things about the Chalet and can't wait to make the long trek back from Michigan to enjoy the wonderful and peaceful view from the living room and fantastic deck. Echo Chalet - a little peace of heaven.

Owner response:We're happy to provide those basic necessities for our guests. We try to think about the things we don't want to pack and take up when we stay there ourselves - toilet paper, bar soap, paper towels, dish soap, kitchen towels..... Thanks for your kind comments! We look forward to having you stay again!

Our visit here was Feb 2-6 2010. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was perfect. We brought along another couple and our 2 1/2 year old Granddaughter. Her first time to the snow. The hill on the side and area in the back were perfect for snow play. This Chalet has everything you would need ! Very comfortable and cozy. We hope to come back in the summer and enjoy the beautiful outdoor deck !!

We just recently stayed 3 nights / 4 days at the cabin with another couple and our 2 dogs. Cabin is very nice top to bottom. The owners were very responsive and accomodating. We snow shoed every day and our dogs had a blast. We are definitely coming back again. Oh- if it snows a lot (more than 6") watch out for the 5:00M wake up call from the driveway snow plow guy. Without him - I don't think we would have been able to leave. We got about 6 feet of snow when we were there.

Owner response:What a crazy storm that was! 6 feet is a lot of snow even for Tahoe!

My husband and I have watched the house being built, as we love to come up to the mountains as much as possible. Were we ever thrilled to find "that exact house" on VRBO. Wow, what a treat! We could tell it was great quality and our expectations were more than met during our stay in late August '09. The owners were very accommodating and friendly from the get go. Worked with us easily via e-mail to secure the dates we needed. The home was beautifully kept and quiet. Our evenings on the enormous deck BBQing were quite peaceful. So much to do with so little time - thankfully everything on our list was walking or a short drive away. Two recommendations I would give are: 1. List Raley's grocery store (much more variety and reasonable in cost than Lira's, and only four miles further.) 2. Raise the rope swing so "grown-up" legs don't drag on the ground...lol

Owner response:Thanks for the suggestions. We'll add Raley's to our information book and work on that rope swing!

Echo Chalet was the perfect rental for our vacation to Tahoe. 20 minutes to the city, and even better was the 45 minute walk to Lake Echo, where we hiked and rented a canoe. We loved the kitchen, and the grill on the spacious wooden porch made every meal a pleasure. The cabin is brand new, with enough space to really relax. Our daughter loved exploring the surrounding grounds--the stream and woods. We hope to come back next summer.

I and my two friends - all women from our late 50s to late 60s - enjoyed our stay here. The house is pleasant with a nice deck and well stocked kitchen. It is close to Echo Lake. We enjoyed our hikes around the lake and a boat ride to hiking in Desolation Wilderness. We also drove a short distance to the great beach in Fort Richardson in S. Lake Tahoe. Our only disappointment was that you could hear the traffic from 50 when sitting on the deck. We also thought that the deposit of $300 was steep, but were happy that we received a full refund only 4 days after we left the house. The owners were very helpful and pleasant.

Owner response:Thanks for the wine opener. Our future guest will appreciate it!
