Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1993
In the early 80's I visited the Whitefish Chain area and decided that I wanted to spend as much of my free time there as possible. My favorite lakes were Trout and Ox lakes because they were the clearest lakes in the area. I bought my 1st cabin in 1982. It faced Ox Lake and also had a dock on Loon lake. Ox lake has no public access so it is still very pristine and is loaded with fish. I also kept a boat on Loon lake so I could enjoy everything that the Whitefish Chain had to offer.
Why the Owner Chose Crosslake (Cross Lake)
Having had a cabin on Ox Lake for many years, I decided that I wanted to build a lake home. I waited 5 years for the perfect piece of land to become available. It is a 450 ft deep lot with Ox Lake on one end and Loon Lake on the other. Route 66 runs through the Loon Lake end of the land. The home was built facing Ox Lake to enjoy the large Norway Pines, Eagles, and serenity offer by that lake. My dock on Loon Lake gives me access to the Whitefish Chain and all of it's fun.
The Unique Benefits of this House
You will be amazed by the clarity of Ox Lake. It's like boating on an aquarium. If you choose to, you can canoe to the north end of the lake, portage over the beaver dam, & you are on Little Ox Lake. This is a small 60 ft deep lake with NO CABINS! Great fishing in a wilderness setting. You have free use of our canoe and boat launch. On the Loon lake side you have dockage and use of a boat lift that will fit boats to 17 ft. This property is large, beautiful and very quiet.

The home (don't call this a cabin!) is extremely comfortable and spacious and the lake and lake access are just as described. And Dick is a gracious host, ready to answer any question you have. He also shared the bounty of his garden, some of the best tomatoes ever, and what might be the world's largest zucchini! Would gladly rent again!

This place only gets better! This year we were there during a particularly hot and steamy week and, thus, were grateful for the quiet, efficient air conditioning. The house is well-equipped and carefully maintained and this approach is also reflected in the great personal attention to guests provided by the owner. VRBO has taken us to many terrific vacation locations, but this experience stands alone at the top.

My family along with a couple of my children's friends recently stayed at this very fine property and had a wonderful time relaxing, fishing, boating and enjoying time away as a family. When we arrived we found no surprises as the owner had accurately represented all aspects of the property and found the location to be more beautiful than what the listing photographs were able to capture. The home was very clean and well maintained with ample amenities including dishes, pots, pans, towels, etc. The owner came over to great us when we arrived and gave a tour of the home and showed us all of the various features. He also provided a few tips on how to best catch fish on Ox Lake. He was very friendly and helpful indeed. Even filleted a few fish that my family caught during the week, although I'm not sure he would want me to promote this fact. We spent time boating on both the Chain and on Ox Lake. Because it was July 4th holiday the chain of lakes were alot of fun for the kids with all of the activities taking place. My favorite however was the peace and serenity of Ox Lake. There were many times during our stay, that I would be the only person out on the lake. Very peaceful indeed. Additonally, the fishing on Ox was wonderful, with bountiful numbers of largemouth bass and sunfish caught during our time there. My kids commented that this property would be one they would definitely like to rent again, and my wife and I both agree. Highly recommend this property.

We chose Ox Lake because our family has gone there for more than 50 years. It is so beautiful and quiet. What a nice get away. The guys did lots of fishing and caught more than enough fish to eat. We enjoyed seeing a young eagle on his perch calling to his parents to bring him his "lunch". Plenty of room to enjoy the property relaxing as well. Beautiful accomadations. The photos of the property are accurate. Loved having the 3 bathrooms!! Several gift shops a couple of miles away for buying momentos. Would love to go back next year!!

A beautifully finished and furnished home on a quiet (no public access) scenic Minnesota lake. Our 3-generation group of 7 (4 adults; 3 young ones) fit comfortably and enjoyed the semi-open floor plan which includes a huge deck overlooking Ox Lake. This was our second year here and we have no incentive to look beyond. Having access to the Whitefish Chain will be a plus for many who rent here, but we have been very happy to enjoy relatively small Ox Lake swimming from the dock, fishing and with canoe, rowboat and paddle boat excursions. But, here is the best part: Dick, the owner, lives next door and is extremely helpful in many ways. For a most reasonable charge, he will take you fishing. For two years in a row, now, he helped us catch a delicious dinner. It is also like having a personal concierge next door. Where to eat, shop, fish, rent a boat, find entertainment, get a kid patched up--all are revealed. We especially appreciated how well the kitchen was set up and equipped--lots of good quality cookware and most every tool you would need. And, a quite good locally-owned supermarket was a great resource for us. In summary, we valued the tranquility of being on this beautiful small lake, the owner who treated us like family, Crosslake's small, home-town atmosphere, the convenience of most everything nearby, and the absence of excessive suburban incursions.

The property is tucked into the woods and beautifully situated on the shores of Ox Lake with easy access to some of the best golf courses in the state of Minnesotat. My family and I recently stayed at the property for 4 nights and found it to be everything we were looking for and more! The home is excellent for large groups as has 3 spacious bedrooms and bathrooms along with a 4 seasons porch with hideaway bed. We found the fishing on Ox Lake to be terrific and caught several large mouth bass and panfish. The owner of the property is extremely accommodating and very easy to work with, I would highly recommend this property!
