I just spent a wonderful weekend at Acorn Ledge Lodge with two friends for my 50th birthday. From the moment we entered the cabin until leaving, we constantly noticed something new & unique. From wonderfully, homey quilts to the iron grates in the flooring....we were completely enthralled! The cabin is so tastefully decorated and every convenience of home is available. We took full advantage of the charcoal grill and spent every free moment on the screened in porch. The sunrises will take your breath away. We also enjoyed reading the directions to the cabin aloud on our journey there. You will truly want to notice and see everything Sara points out in the directions and welcome letter. The bedding is comfortable and we all slept soundly. If peace and quiet and beauty is what you seek....this is the place to be. I hope to return soon!

We stayed there this fall and couldn't have been more thrilled! The lodge and all amenities are exactly as stated and Sara was a delight in every possible way. She promptly responds, gives you everything you need to know (READ the Welcome Letter!), and has genuinely thought of everything so that it feels like home away from home. Lovely, lovely, lovely.....we WILL be back for sure!

My husband and I (of 12 yrs & 2 girls) were able to find peace and quiet at Acorn Ledge Lodge. Thank you Sara for sharing your cabin with us. The extensive Welcome Letter, detailed directions, and quick communications were rivaled by none. You have thought of everything! The back deck on the glider under a quilt was my absolute favorite spot to relax, although it was a little tough to pull ourselves from that heavenly bed. It was very very comfy and I missed it when we returned home. We enjoyed breakfast at the Moonlight Bistro and would recommend to everyone. If you are looking for the "unplugged" from busy life experience, then look no further -- This is it! Serenity Found.

Amazing

What an amazing place!! We'll be back, no doubt. Plenty of room for 4 adult and 2 boys, 7 and 5 yrs old. They had so much fun playing outside around the cabin and taking long walks. We really enjoyed the State Parks and Chris was able to get a 27 mile training run in at the Pinhoti trails. We chose to eat in every night as it felt just like home, no need to leave. Sara sent of VERY detailed notes about the cabin with helpful tips about the area. Thank you very much for the snacks, juices and bagels. We've rented many cabins and this was by far the best. Thanks Sara!!

A Charming Getaway

What a wonderful place to getaway and unwind! We spent 3 nights at this little cabin in the woods as a relaxing vacation for our small family. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, especially the screened-in back porch where we spent a lot of time looking out over the valley and enjoying the out-of-doors out of reach from the bugs. Time seemed to pass effortlessly as we took walks, read books and enjoyed each other's company. The neighboring residences, though visible through the woods, were not in any way a distraction and it appeared that only one residence was even occupied during our stay. The amenities of the cabin were excellent and it felt just like a home. Condiments in the fridge, bagels in the freezer, shampoo in the shower, you name it- it felt just like home. And even though we brought along our stuff, it was more relaxing because it just felt like home. (Thanks Sara!) For anyone interested, I did get excellent phone service on Verizon and was even able to browse the web on my laptop using my iPhone as a hotspot, although my phone would occasionally switch from 3G to a slower network. (Ok, I know- I shouldn't have been on the web but I did -need- to get some things done.) Driving out the driveway, we were already discussing our return trip and wondering how soon we could do it again!

Great little cabin!

This was a wonderful cabin to stay in. We had 3 adults and 3 10-12 yr old children staying and were very comfortable. The cabin is decorated better than any I have ever seen. We concentrated on the massive yard sales in the morning and Little River Canyon in the afternon. The kids had great fun playing in the river. Sara could not have been more helpful with all of her information. Wildflower cafe in Mentone is excellent place to go for a meal and to enjoy the area.

Acorn Ledge Lodge was all we hoped it would be. The view from the screen porch was beautiful. We saw someone cutting his hay field far below in Shinbone Valley. The tractor looked like a toy! The rain on the tin roof was soothing to say the least. The cabin was clean and decorated beautifully. The quilts and metal work lights are great and made me wish for some of my own. The welcome letter we received answered questions we had not even thought of asking and made our trip and visit much easier. We enjoyed the nearby attractions. Wildflower Cafe and Moonlight Bistro in Mentone were perfect lunch time treats. Acorn Ledge Lodge was a good central location for all the attractions we visited and we looked forward to returning to it after our ramblings. Breakfast and coffee on the screen porch was a perfect start to each day. Hope to return soon, again and again.

Oasis of calm

Acorn Ledge Lodge is an oasis of calm in an often frantic world. It is very well maintained and stocked with everything one could need. There are all the conveniences, but it is also rustic and surrounded by beautiful woods and scenery. The owner was extremely helpful with directions and ideas on things to do. I had difficulty tearing myself away from the screened porch but did visit Cloudland Canyon State Park, DeSoto State Park, Little River Canyon rim scenic drive, and the Wildflower Cafe in Mentone. I highly recommend all of those. I was surprised by the alpine meadow like terrain on top of the mountain with the wonderful smell of newly mown hay. My thanks to the owner for sharing the cabin with us.

A recent guest was inspired during his visit to write the following words of poetry: The human soul longs for peace...a quietness not found in everyday life in the oft so fast movements beneath our feet....the time the soul needs to find this peace,is as near or as far as WE shall allow it to be!! my soul was SCREAMING for the peace of which i speak,the song of the trees sung peace to me so incredibly deep!!! this beautiful song,sung so quietly,still calms my soul everyday and nightly....the unfortunate reality of the human being,is to me w/out this soulful peace........so many of us are merely EXISTING!!!.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Acorn Ledge Lodge and would highly recommend it to anyone!! The decor is gorgeous, the amenities unmatched{Sara provides a highchair, pack-n-play, soaps, medicine, etc.}, and such a beautiful, peaceful place. We have four children and found this cabin to be plenty of space for all of us. Sara was great to work with and very prompt in replying to any questions I had. Peace Above the Valley

My wife and I have just concluded a most relaxing "re-creative" get-away week at Acorn Ledge Lodge. Sara has made her little cabin in the woods into an ideal retreat for the weary. We especially enjoyed the morning sunrise across Shinbone valley while sipping coffee on the screened deck. The quiet allows you to hear woodland creatures stirring from their nests mingled with distant rooster crows echoing up from valley farms below. The location is convenient to a plethora of Lookout Mountain activities in Mentone AL; Cloudland Canyon State Park near Rising Fawn, Ga; Desoto State Park in AL; Lookout Mountain and Chickamauga Battlefields to name just a few. The cabin is well appointed and well stocked with goodies, grill, and wood-burning stove. The property is clean and well maintained. We are definitely planning a repeat trip ASAP.

This quiet place nestled in the woods definetly creates the ambiance for that peaceful, easy feeling! The area is beautiful and the abode is cozy. It really does feel like a "home" and not a "cookie cutter" rental cabin. The screened in porch was my favorite part and the view from the house was magnificent! This was my first trip to the area and what an amazing one it was! My weekend spent at the Acorn Ledge Lodge was shared with the love of my life and it was the perfect get away for us! Romantic, fun and cozy..... I would recommend the Acorn Ledge Lodge to anyone! Without a doubt we will be back.....

A Sensory Delight

I'm sitting on the back porch watching the sunrise. With the exception of the sound of the breeze blowing through the trees, there is an overwhelming silence. What a wonderful escape from the sounds and burdens of city life. The view of the sunrise is picture perfect. The cabin itself is wonderful. It's owner has excellant taste and has decorated it perfectly. The walls are lined with Pendleton blankets, western-styled rugs and tasteful pictures. The place has a quality rustic antique decor. While lovely, the cabin is also extremely comfortable. It has the feel of a home which was built with guests in mind. Whenever I travel, I inevitably forget to bring coffee filters. No problem here. This place is stocked with so many items. I joked with my husband that but for the eggs, you could just about bake a cake with everything the owner supplied. We will return again and again. We've found a home away from home.

What a gift it was to us to spend our anniversary at this sweet cabin perched on the edge of a rugged hillside. Everything was just perfect: the view, the rain on the tin roof, the comfort and style and cleanliness and amenities of the cabin, the numerous opportunities to do pretty much everything or nothing at all by way of recreation, and the interactions with Sara, the owner. She has gone out of her way to make this a comfortable, classy, and memorable retreat. We recommend it highly and without reservation. We'll be back!

That little lodge is a wonderful piece of heaven, and we left it feeling so serene and renewed. You have thought of EVERYTHING to make your guests comfortable and welcome there. It was just delightful for us. On the day we arrived, we had driven for over 12 hours and were exhausted and road-weary. When we walked into Acorn Ledge, we both said, "Ah-h-h-h-h" at the same time! Our weekend was PERFECT and we could not have asked for a better place to stay! We are already planning for another trip back to your cabin as it simply felt like "home" to us...Our parents both collect antiques and we loved seeing all of yours being used for everyday use...they are all lovely! The kids really enjoyed exploring the woods, walking the dirt roads, but most of all "camping out" on your screened in porch in their sleeping bags...We also went hiking to "Rocktown" - SO COOL, the boys LOVED this!!!

The Acorn Ledge Lodge is everything the website and the owner said it would be. My wife and I could not believe how well thought out the cabin was. The only reason our experience was not perfect was the weather. Just our luck it rained the whole time we were there. We were able to see the fantastic view and enjoy the trail below the cabin for a brief time between showers. The town of Mentone Al. was a very nice surprise. It is a short drive from the cabin and lunch at the Wildflower Cafe was great. I would highly recommend the Acorn Ledge Lodge to anyone wanting to experience a beautiful part of Georgia. The price was very fair and the owner was wonderful to work with.

I just returned home from a week of prayer and meditation at the Acorn Ledge Lodge Cabin. As a 3/4 time student and a full time career guy, the downtime was greatly needed. I found the cabin to be cozy, warm and idealic for fond memories of a profoundly relaxing vacation. Sara was equally cozy and warm in her helpfulness during preparation for my private retreat. Everything I could have possibly needed was provided and I only needed to buy some mealtime groceries for my stay. The view, of course, was breathtaking and it even snowed for two of the days I was there. I don't know how you pulled that off Sara, but It was the perfect touch for my stay. This cabin is perfect for a busy guy to escape the distactions of everyday life and for quieting the mind. Thank you for sharing your mountain paradise with me!

Sara, we had a delightful time, stayed in our pj's for two straight days, listened to the rain on the roof all day Tuesday, and watched a gorgeous sunrise Thursday. My husband and I just returned from a wonderful weekend at Acorn Ledge Lodge. We loved everything about the cabin, but the back porch was our favorite part. The porch faces east over a valley with mountains beyond that. Sunrises and moonrises were fabulous - worth staying up or getting up for.

I just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our weekend at your cabin. It was perfect, very cozy and serene. And as you predicted, I am one of the visitors who is going to ask where you got the mattresses. I awoke without my back aching. Even the pillows were perfect. My family visited in August 2009. We thoroughly enjoyed the spaciousness of the cabin and all of the unique features it has. Traveling with small children is not easy, but you made it fun with plenty to do. We spent our four days visitng area caves and nearby attractions. We had a wonderful trip. The cabin is awesome,along with the view.It was so nice to have all the extra waiting for us,too. We go to the mountains about twice a year and have never had the breakfast and condiments. It was also an extra to have the washer and dryer. We plan on going back; the area was beautiful. My family spent our vacation at Acorn Lodge and had a wonderful time. We enjoyed just hanging out hiking and taking a walk to a lake down the road. Wanted to write and let you know what a thoroughly delightful time we all had at your lovely cottage. My husband was a little concerned when we drove up - it looks like such a tiny dollhouse on the outside! My daughters and I stayed in Sara's lovely cabin for two nights and it was a delightful and magical stay for us all. The cabin is completely set up for all your needs and then some, decorated in the most tasteful and charming style I have ever seen in a rental-right out of the pages of "Country Home". The land around is beautiful, the view spectacular, the privacy and serenity - unparalleled. I highly recommend this lovely property and the graciousness and professionalism of its owner. Staying here was one of the nicest experiences we ever had. Virtually everything but perishables were furnished and it was like home away from home. A much better ambiance then even the most posh hotel. This cabin is truly a slice of Heaven. The veiw is magnificent and the entire surrounings are serene and tranquil. It's an absolutely wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. There are a number of fascinating things to do and places to visit witin a very short distance and the locals are so friendly it's difficult to imagine. An overall ten experience. I would highly recommend this to anyone, whether you're looking for a romantic getaway or just a peaceful and relaxing vacation for the family.

I would like to think Sara, the owner of Acorn Ledge Lodge, for the wonderful vacation experience I had at her cabin. Lookout Mountain is a very sentimental place for me. I have vacationed here in the past and even attended Camp Juliette Low at the age of 10. This was such a relaxing get away. Just what I needed in order to refresh and recharge during these hard economic times. Thank you again! I know I will be returning very soon!
