Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 1998

I was born in Maine and have lived in the state all my life. My husband, John, is "from away" or the Boston area but has lived in Maine for 40 years. According to "Mainers", he can never be considered a native though! We are retired but John continues to work part-time as a safety consultant to food manufacturers.

Why the Owner Chose Raymond Cape

Actually, this house was our year-round home for the last 10 years. It is being rented this year for the first time.
Fall and winter on "Big Sebago" are just as magical as the summer. In the fall the wildlife and natural beauty become the focal point. As you drive down the Cape Road, the color in the fall is comparable to most anywhere in Maine. To be on the lake is an added plus.

The Unique Benefits of this House

The privacy and serenity of this property can not be matched, yet it is very convenient to Portland as well as many fall and winter sporting locations.
Raymond Cape is a 5 mile peninsula that juts into the middle of Sebago. Our house is close to the end of the Cape. When you drive between the brick pillars at the entrance of our property, it's like driving onto a small estate. You can barely see the neighboring houses through the trees. Because the house is at the end of the road, if you see 2 cars a day, that's a lot.

Our house is modern but with Maine touches like natural oak woodwork, including the beams across the cathedral ceiling in the great room. We now live 8 lives away, so if there is anything you need, you only need to call. We hope you enjoy a bit of this year's Maine fall or winter in our special house.

    • This house is perfect. No hidden surprises. The house was very clean and is on a very private area on Sebago Lake. Views are great! Be sure to go down to the dock at night and see the stars.
