We just had a FABULOUS week in this comfortable and well-equipped home on Lake Santeetlah. We didn't "want" for anything and, if we did, owners were very accommodating and easy to reach. There was plenty of room and very comfortable beds. Being able to bring our dog was special for us, and our sons were thrilled to have the kayaks to use. As a "working vacation" the dependable WiFi was a big plus as well. We enjoyed star gazing on the deck at night and dinners on the porch at our favorite lake. Steps to dock were the easiest to navigate of any house we have rented on Santeetlah. We enjoyed our rented a pontoon boat, and also rented jet ski's for a few hours. We will certainly be back!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We stayed at this property the summer of 2010, and it was our first time to Lake Santeetlah. It was the best vacation ever! So relaxing and comfortable. The house is great with everything you could ask for. We were hoping to stay here again this summer, but it was booked. We will make sure to plan ahead next year and book in advance. Great location, great house, great dock, deep cool water...love, love, love!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

Wonderful for people who do NOT like the nightlife and want a true "getaway." True "nature-lovers" delight. Perfectly comfortable little place nestled along the bank; high up for the view, and protected from other neighbors. The little community seems so quiet that you really feel like you are "the only one there" this time of year. The kitchen was well equipped, furnishings very comfortable, and the wrap around porch was where I perched in the comfy chairs overlooking that mountain lakefront view. Nice deck halfway down to the lake for your viewing pleasure, and a floating dock for launching the kayaks and for that dive into the refreshing mountain water! Organic farm nearby for those who crave the flavor and freshness of mountain grown produce. The location was perfect for a drive to short hikes, (including the Appalachian Trail), for seeing those old growth forest trees (awesome!), finding local art/crafts, motoring the Cherhola Skyway, and casting flies at all the premier fly fishing spots within 20 minutes' drive. Big Snowbird, Little Snowbird, Santeetlah Creek, Slickrock, Cheoah, Big Creek (a little further in Bryson City). Wow. Angler's delight! Won’t tell you where we caught the most fish….you will have to find out for yourself! Has anyone named that huge bass I saw taking a leisurely swim around the edge of the lake? I am afraid to say much more about my week, for fear someone will think I am spinning a fish tale!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time at this cottage on the lake. This was our first time in this area and we went for relaxation on the lake and checking out local artisans in the area...and we got both. The weather cooperated enough for a nice walk around the area and a kayaking trip out on the lake. The house was just as described and the owners were very friendly and helpful. I'm looking forward to a longer stay in the fall with my family!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Our family of three thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Mer Est Jalouse lakefront home during the 4th of July week of 2011. It was our family's first visit to Lake Santeetlah and our first view of the home was everything the owners described & the listing photos showed. Very accomodating home, from the easy walk to the entrance to the very comfortable seating arrangements (indoors, porch & dock area) to the comfy bedrooms! The porch, overlooking the dock, has an incredible view, great seating & was a favorite place to eat, have coffee and relax when we took a break from hanging out, swimming & fishing at the wonderful dock. The owners were very helpful with our questions. We would recommend this home and recommend Lake Santeetlah. It was a wonderful home and beautiful lake for our vacation! Our heartfelt thanks to the owners for a great stay!!Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

The house was nice, the lake was beautiful, and it was a very quiet place to relax. We loved the kayaks that were included with the rental and used them every day. There is plenty to do in the area, and we drove anywhere from 30 minutes to visit Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest up to 2 hours to stand on top of Clingman's Dome. We had a few small glitches while we were there, but the owners were only a phone call away to address any issues. The house was in the process of being remodeled during our stay, so there were a few imperfections, but still a very nice place overall. You can see pictures of the house and the lake at http://www.msbphoto.com/santeetlahcabinRecommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

My family thoroughly enjoyed our time at Santeetlah Lake in August 2010! The house was just lovely and had everything we could need. The lake setting is beautiful - crystal clear water and outstanding mountain views! My kids had a fantastic time exploring the lake coves in our boat, but especially in the kayaks provided by the owners. The dock and deck were very spacious. There are lots of hiking trails, a farm for picking juicy blueberries and other fun activities nearby. We will definetly be back to "refresh and recharge" in this idyllic location!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

La Mer Est Jalouse is the perfect place for a relaxing week. The kitchen was well outfitted for cooking a meal to enjoy on the deck overlooking Lake Santeetlah. The house was updated with attractive decor and amenities including Satellite TV and WiFi internet for those times we were out of the water. The dock was a great place to relax and the water of the lake almost bath tube warm so that a swim at anytime day or night was pleasant! The area was peaceful and uncrowded. We made ample use of the kayak to explore the coves of the lake. Nearby Snowbird Restaurant and Lynn's Cafe provided memorable meals. You will enjoy an unhurried feast for the eyes in lovely Western North Carolina at La Mer Est Jalouse.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

About the owner: After purchasing our home on Lake Santeetlah we can not imagine anywhere more peaceful and beautiful.
Why the Owner Chose Lake Santeetlah:
We spent many years staying with close friends at the lake and fell in love with the beauty and tranquility of Lake Santeetlah. We love the flat water kayaking on the lake as well as the white water rafting or kayaking on the Nantahala or Cheoah rivers.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Peace and Quiet. Absolutely the most beautiful view. Crystal clear, clean deep water. The lake is not like most. Even on a busy holiday the traffic on the lake is minimal. The one way road circles the mountain and makes for a delightful walk, each turn revealing a new and wonderful view. See Graham County, NC visitors site for more information on local attractions.
