where do i start? when we arrived at the end of a long hard day of travel, we felt immediately we'd come home. there is something about this little casita that draws one in... a greenhouse warm and fragrant-filled, loaded with bright red geraniums and succulents, a sky lit up with stars, the big big bed so high you feel like you're flying high above the earth. oh my, the hours spent in the perfect kitchen (meaning almost as perfect as ours) and then later on the patio eating dinner as night fell. this place is so romantic, so restful, so far away from reality and still so rooted in it. we didn't want to leave even for a day of sight seeing and then on our return oh how good it was to see "our" casita coming into view. we hiked and watched sunsets. ken and lieta were the perfect host/hostess--friendly and welcoming, always mindful of our comfort, there for us but not intrusive. when we asked about a grill outdoors (before we'd even arrived), we were told that lieta had already purchased one complete with charcoal. she also provided fruit and snacks to welcome us and nourish us as the days went by--much too quickly. we will come again and again... for romance, rest, refreshment of our spirits.

We stayed in the casita for three days in late March and absolutely loved it. Lleta and Ken were extremely accommodating to work with (even on very short notice) - we especially appreciated all the information on local sites/activities. The casita was very cosy and gorgeous - even well beyond what the photos indicate. We really enjoyed the spectacular views into the foothills, and there are plenty of very private outdoor areas to sit and enjoy the scenery. There are many great walks right from the casita, and it's an easy (and beautiful if you take the backroads route) drive into Sante Fe. Perfect!

Owner response: You picked a great time of the year to visit and we are glad you took advantage of the nearby trails and scenic spots.

We had a wonderful weeklong visit at Christmas. The owners were very helpful and hospitable. The casita is beautiful, decorated with southwest art and artifacts. The place is elegant, comfortable, private, very clean & well-maintained and they decorated it with holiday boughs and wreaths. The owners welcomed us with breakfast provisions and lots of information about the area and activities. We felt right at home. The kitchen is fully equipped and the bedroom and living room are roomy, handsome and comfy. There are many seating areas outside to enjoy when the weather is good. We hiked nearby trails, explored the art gallaries, visited museums, cooked meals at home and ate out at the great restaurants in Santa Fe.

Dear Travelers: First of all, I would like to say a BIG thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Scoggins (the owners)! They have done a wonderful job as landlords in keeping up with the Casita, so that renters (like you and me) can enjoy a beautiful, clean, and comfortable living area for folks to be able to stay there and visit the surrounding areas. The owners are extremely thoughtful, sweet, and very kind! They are truly wonderful people. Mrs. Scoggins even taught me to knit! :) The experience that I had from staying in their Casita while we were vacationing in Santa Fe was priceless. They have left snacks for us before we even got in. We were able to get by with snacks and goodies that day we arrived. That was very helpful, especially trying to get settle in from a long drive. So thank you Mr. and Mrs. Scoggins! It’s definitely a “home” away from our home! I love the casita settings. It’s filled with so many arts and cultural things throughout the house. The property has plenty of space for couples or a small family to stay there comfortably. It’s very spacious for folks to relax and still have fun indoor and outdoor. I’m amazed that place has so many doors and through those doors there is more than one patio all around the property! It’s always a treat to be able to sit outside and just relax and enjoy the beautiful mountain view from the Casita. There were days that we would hike throughout the area and I loved it! If you have family with kids, they might enjoy looking for animals' footprints during the winter season…If you’re like me who’s always curious, I enjoyed looking for animals’ footprints left in the snow. Just this past winter, we came across a rabbit during out hike. We highly recommend this place to others traveling in the Santa Fe area! I would move into the casita if I can afford it. ;) So if you want a beautiful place to stay, serenity, clean, comfort, and easy access into town, not to mention two wonderful landlords, then the casita is the place to be! A Mentee

Would highly recommend this rental! The house was spacious, full kitchen. The owners were so kind to leave breakfast snacks for your stay. The setting is amazing. About 15 minutes north of Santa Fe in the foothills. Secluded and quiet with beautiful views and night skies. If you don't want to stay in the hustle and bustle of the downtown area, but still close, this is it.

If you are looking for a quiet retreat close to Santa Fe, in a clean, comfortable and very charmingly decorated casita this is it! The owners are gracious and available, and provided fresh fruit and danish for our first breakfast. The quiet in this location is wonderful, and though the pines are quite tall close to the casita the walks in the neighborhood afforded lovely views. This is a delightful retreat for a couple, yet so close to Santa Fe and hiking in the mountains. We were able to host guests for dinner and found the kitchen very well equipped and a pleasure to work in. We enjoyed our stay here very much.Thank you Lleta and Ken for being gracious hosts.

My husband & I stayed at this casita & found it to be everything (and more) as described. The photo's accurately show how comfortable and beautifully decorated this casita really is! We appreciated how clean the property was and found Ken & Lleta to be warm, wonderful host & hostess. We have already recommended this property to several family members and we will stay here when we return to Santa Fe in the future. Additionally, while this property is very secluded (which we loved) it is just about a 10 minute drive to the heart of Santa Fe; and is close to other parks and attractions. In closing, we must share that the peacefulness was wonderful and the star gazing is amazing ~ the best that we have experienced. Thank you Ken & Lleta!

We had a wonderful and relaxing stay in this casita with beautiful views of the mountains. It is beautifully decorated and cozy. We spent mornings drinking our coffee in the warmth of the sun on the eastern facing porch. Evenings we would watch the rain storms in the mountains. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need just like home. It is an easy drive into Santa Fe and you end up right at the historic plaza area.

The spring is a beautiful time of the year. The view you referred to looks out on Baldy and the ski basin. The view of the Aspens in the fall is terrific so come back soon.

We were so impressed with this casita and the setting. Absolutely quiet and so peaceful. We found the casita so well stocked with goodies as well as necessities unlike most properties with VRBO. It was like staying in a special friend's home. The interior was beautifully decorated in the Santa Fe style and so comfortable. We especially enjoyed the selection of books. The outdoor patio was a perfect spot both morning and evening for coffee or wine.. The location was somewhat off the beaten path, yet minutes away from Santa Fe. We loved walking the grounds and enjoying time off the grid. We hope to return in the near future. Thank you Ken and Lleta for creating such a special retreat!
