Why the Owner Chose Jacksonville
We decided to refurbish the Cottage so that we could share Jacksonville with other people who wanted to come and visit. We used the inspiration of our Oregon roots, to keep the design and decoration of the cottage simple and comfortable. We wanted everyone to feel like they were visiting our favorite aunts house.
The Unique Benefits at this CottageDuncan Cottage is right in the heart of historic Jacksonville. Within walking distance of everything there is to do. Sit on the front porch and talk to the neighbors as they head for the Post Office each day. Find a shady spot in the backyard and read a good book. A stay in Jacksonville can be as busy or not as you want. With a full kitchen you can cook each night or if you choose there are as many as 13 restaurants in a six block area from your front door. Shopping, hiking trails, history to discover it is all just down the street.
Owner's Map of Jacksonville
Terry and Arlis are the owners of Duncan Cottage. We are native Oregonians, who moved away during our childhood but found our way back later in life. We live here because we love all that there is to do here. Lots of theaters, music festivals, local events and best of all the great outdoors. Arlis loves to raft, swim in the local rivers. Terry loves to ride her horses up into the back country. Both of us love to live here in the Rogue River Valley.

My friend and I recently visited the Rogue Valley to experience the many fine wineries in the area. Duncan Cottage was the perfect place to stay during our visit there. The property was exactly as described in the listing. The Jacksonville Children's Festival was being held during our visit, and we loved sitting on the cottage porch watching all the families attending the festival. The cottage was so convenient for walking around Jacksonville to enjoy all the historic buildings. Be sure to take the trolley tour if it is operating when you visit here. The Mustard Seed restaurant is just a block away and has a delicious $5 breakfast. We had a tasty fresh vege omelet that was a great start to our day of sightseeing and wine tasting. The furniture in the cottage was very nice and we had a good sleep in the comfortable beds. Very pleasant to eat breakfast or any meal at the table in the small backyard. The owners have kept the style and furnishings of the cottage true to the era in which it was built. It is exactly as shown in the photos on the vrbo website. One evening we had fun watching the flickering light of the artificial fireplace as we sipped our Rogue Valley wines. Arlis was great to communicate with as we were arranging our reservation and replied promptly to all our queries. Thanks for sharing your delightful cottage with us...so much better than any hotel room!

My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights recently on a trip to Jacksonville to see a couple of concerts at the Britt Festival. The cottage is nice, clean, and very quaint. The kitchen was perfect, since we enjoy cooking and rarely go out to restaurants. It was so close to the Britt (a few blocks walk) and shops/cafes downtown and equally close to the Rich Gulch, Panorama Point, and Petard Loop trails, which were quite lovely. We will definitely want to stay here again in the future!
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, girls getaway, pet owners.
