We stayed at other vacation rentals while looking for our new home on the Big Island, but this was by far THE BEST! Louanne made us feel right at home and the spacious historical atmosphere was truly magical. We enjoyed walks to nearby Laupahoehoe Point beach park and relaxed in the tide pools after long days of house-hunting. The location is ideal for those who want to explore the Hamakua Coast area, while Hilo is just a stunningly beautiful 30 minute drive down the coast. We highly recommend the Old Jodo Temple to anyone looking for a unique and special experience while in Hawaii. Don't waste your money on a hotel! This is where you want to stay!

the house is amazing. all the comforts of home and luxurious in its surroundings. a perfect spot to land everyday. you can make a trip anywhere on the island and still make it back to the temple to rest your head. the farmer's market in hilo is amazing so you can stock up the pantry and fridge with the island's abundance. you barely need to go out to eat. the owner's are gracious and amazing. i couldn't imagine paying for a hotel when there are accommodations like this to be had.

Beautiful historic home with big open temple room upstairs. Owners Ron and Louanne are very nice and have taken great care to restore the building to beautiful condition for guests. Thank you you, Ron and Louanne! We enjoyed our stay, the fresh fruit, wonderful neighbors, and walking distance to the shore. We found the home very comfortable. We recommend it! Mahalo and best wishes, KS

This is THE PLACE to stay on the Hamakua coast. The Old Jodo Temple has been excellently restored to retain it's historic value. It is very clean and the owner takes great care of you. Laupahoehoe Point Park is at your door step and Old Hawaii is all around you. Mahalo Louanne!!!
