Secluded Mountain Home - 20 Minutes to Breckenridge!
- Minimum stay:2-3 nights
- Internet:No
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
If you are looking for a place that allows you to get close to nature while being close to the action - you have found it! . Escape and enjoy the many diverse activities the mountains can offer and come home to a peaceful and spacious setting where your family can relax and renew at the end of your exciting day.
This quiet and cozy home is tucked back in the trees at the base of Mount Bross, one of Colorado's famous 14’ers. Located on the outskirts of fun and funky Alma, our home allows easy access to all the area's fun. Park County has a wealth of hiking, biking, shopping and more while Breckenridge and all Summit County has to offer is just a few minutes away. Although the setting is secluded the house is just one mile off the highway (no long offroad drives!) situated on 10 private acres.
Our mountainside charmer is a comfortable, warm and tastefully decorated spacious three bedroom, two bathroom home that you will want to call your home away from home! A large fully equipped country kitchen and dining area will allow for family meals if you decide to eat in. The comfortable living room with a stone fireplace offers a quiet place to reflect on the day's activities. In addition, a cozy family room with a gas fireplace and entertainment center gives a place for the family to gather.
There are two downstairs bedrooms. The “bears den” bunk room sleeps four in double bunks while a second bedroom with queen bed sleeps two. The dramatic master bedroom provides a rustic get-away. Large windows bring the wildlife into view as moose, deer and the resident fox make their way across the property. A large deck overlooks the scenic valley and the Continental Divide, a great place to enjoy the peacefulness at any time of day.
The house is set on 10 acres backing up to miles of undeveloped land. In the summer we highly recommend scenic hiking into the high country where you can explore the mining era that made this area famous, the amazing wild flower meadows and the pristine peaks of Central Colorado. In the winter, enjoy alpine skiing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and more. Breckenridge is just 16 miles away and three other mountains are within easy reach!

Doug and Diane were amazing to work with!!! They answered all our questions and was in constant communication with us on the few hiccups that occurred. The home far exceeded the description: beautiful, awesome location, great beds, great bathrooms, kitchen was well stocked. Burned lots of wood in the fireplace and enjoyed the view. Even did our first ski practice on the hill next to the house. We had an excellent time as a group of friends traveling in from all over the country to spend a relaxing week in the mountains. We traveled to Breck on a daily basis, the ski slopes and views were amazing. Travel time was 20-40 minutes depending on road conditions and slow(er) drivers on the roads. Crepes a la Carte (Breck) makes an amazing snack or light lunch, but be prepared for a 30+ min wait. The Warming Hut (Breck) has unbelievably great food and happy hour prices make it very affordable. Roads from CO-9 to the house were snow covered/muddy most of the week, but nothing 4x4 couldn't handle easily. We will definitely stay here again if we get a chance to come back.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed here for five days and loved it. Mini hiking out the back door, Westong Pass, and many more places to see close by. We loved the cabin and hot tub. Would stay here again if I am up for some altitude sickness head aches. Bring your 4X4.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cabin. We wanted a place close to the mountains and secluded but still close to towns, shops and activities. This was it!! Our stay was very relaxing as what was our goal. The cabin was very nicely decorated, very clean and included everything the ad stated. We would definately recommend to others.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Our family of four (2 adults + 2 teenagers) stayed here in early August and had a great time. The house was roomy and comfortable - nicely furnished and well kept/well equipped (we ended up "eating in" for most of our evening meals). House was conveniently located - good hikes and excellent fly fishing nearby, and Breckenridge was a pretty easy drive. It felt secluded, but the main road was only a few minutes away. We would definitely recommend this house!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

We spent a week here in June and can't recommend it enough--wonderful accommodations, beautiful scenery, and very private while being a very short drive from town. The description doesn't do it justice--absolutely perfect! If there's something better than soaking in the hot tub while listening to the aspens after a long day of hiking, I don't know what it is. Thanks again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We really enjoyed staying in your mountainside home. It was a nice place to stay when you want to conquer a few 14er’s! We walked out the door and were on the summit of Mt Bross within a few hours. The hot tub helped sooth our tired feet and the view while soaking can’t be beat. We highly recommend this rental. The description doesn’t do it justice. The kitchen had everything we could ask for when we cooked in and your recommendations for restaurants were great. Loved the South Park Saloon!!! We hope to stay with you again soon!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We had a wonderful week over the New Years staying at this home. We comfortably fit 8 people, everyone had enough room to play, eat, rest, watch tv, etc. The location is ideal for doing all the “S’s”, skiing, snowmobiling, skating and snowshoeing! We would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a relaxing, comfortable place to stay with lots of charm. We hope to make it back out there this summer!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This house was the perfect getaway for a group of old college girlfriends getting together for a weekend away. A great private escape and still easy to get to Breck and all the fun it has to offer. Great open floor plan with a really functional kitchen. Comfortable beds! And the views are top notch! We even saw moose in the driveway! The owners were a pleasure to work with and just made it all so easy! We will be back for our next weekend reunion in 2011! Thank you so much!!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Windy Ridge Bristlecone Pine Scenic Area View on map
Bristlecone Pine Scenic Area is located atop Windy Ridge which is hikable from the house. The winds from which the ridge gets its name have caused the trees to take on a tilted appearance. Good views of South Park are also available from this ridge. Artists and photographers find the Scenic Area to provide excellent opportunities.
