Bailey Island house description
Welcome to Bailey Island - a true Maine island where you can get fresh lobster daily, watch the boats come and go from Mackerel Cove, hear the ocean, explore Maine beaches, and enjoy beautiful views of the ocean.
Our classic Maine Cottage has a large second floor studio living room offering views of Mackeral Cove. This traditional housekeeping cottage is fully furnished and sleeps 6 comfortably. On the first floor there is a sitting area, dining area, kitchen, bathroom and three bedrooms; two with double beds and one with twin beds. The dining room/sitting area on the first floor features a stone fireplace. Period details and furnishings are found throughout.
From this cottage, you can hear and see the lobster boats leaving and returning to Mackeral Cove daily. The cottage is located on Summer Hill on the quieter south end of Bailey Island and is within walking distance of a number of island attractions: rocky beaches, oceanside, the Giant Staircase, and Lands End Gift Shop. The historic Cribstone Bridge and Cook's Lobster House are all within a mile of the cottage.
Nearby islands and peninsulas can be explored either by car or boat. Kayak rentals and lessons are available just across the Cribstone Bridge on Orrs Island and the Casco Bay Line offers daily cruises down the bay from Cook's Lobster House.
Additional activities: Freeport outlet stores - including LL Bean's flagship store - the Brunswick Music Theater, museums, boutiques, art galleries, restaurants and several golf courses are within an easy 30 to 40 minute drive of the island.
