Front of house, with original external staircase, balcony and covered passageway
Location: Buonconvento, Tuscany, Italy, Europe (18 Miles South of Siena, 10 Miles from Montalcino)
Accommodations: House in Small Condominium, 4 Bedrooms, 3 Baths (Sleeps 8)
The house forms part of a group of old farm buildings which were converted in the early 90s to create eight individually designed homes. These homes share a large, infinity swimming pool and a hard tennis court set in several hectares of garden. The estate is managed by an English couple who live nearby. The (English) owners live 4 miles away and will be happy to be contacted for help or advice.
Looking out over a courtyard, the house has a large open ground floor (originally stabling for animals) with handsome brick vaulted ceilings, brick arches and terracotta floors. This open space is organized into two sitting areas, a dining area and a kitchen. Also on the ground floor is a cloakroom with washbasin and WC. On the first floor, there are two en-suite bedrooms each with queen beds, and two further bedrooms, each with two single beds, plus an additional bathroom and a laundry room. The master bedroom is particularly spacious, running almost the entire depth of the house, while the second en-suite bedroom has an external door leading onto a south-facing covered balcony, giving access to the original external staircase, looking towards Montalcino. The first floor has original cotto floors and ceilings with chestnut beams supporting cotto roof tiles. All the bedrooms are equipped with ceiling fans that allow comfortable sleeping on the warmest nights.
Outside, at the rear, is a private garden with a large terrace for outside eating giving easy access to the pool. There is a covered carriageway to the left of the front door with a mature vine surrounding the entrance - this is always cool and shady.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1998
We had been holidaying in Italy, particularly Tuscany, for many years. In 1998 I was working in Siena and noticed a couple of houses for sale nearby. My wife and I went to see them and immediately fell in love with the house we are now offering for rental. We spent increasing amounts of time here and liked the area so much that we have moved here permanently from the UK, buying another house nearby. Our kids have fallen in love with the area. Our son and his fiancée will be married here in May with many guests from the UK and elsewhere.
Why the Owner Chose Buonconvento
This area of Tuscany is intensely beautiful and within easy reach of many of the most significant cultural sites in Italy - Siena is 30 minutes away, Florence 90 minutes, Assisi 2 hours, Rome two and a half. It is very close to some of the major wine centres of Italy and, indeed, the world; Montalcino is on our doorstep and Montepulciano less than an hour's journey. The area offers great opportunities for walking, riding or cycling through spectacular, rolling countryside.
The Unique Benefits of this House in Small Condominium
The house is set in wooded, peaceful countryside with views of Montalcino. The grounds contain a large (18 m) infinity swimming pool and a hard tennis court. The local town of Buonconvento, about 3 miles away, is officially one of the most beautiful small towns in Italy and has everything one can want - good restaurants, bars, good delicatessens and craft shops where, among other items, you can order custom-made handbags at very good prices.

We all had a wonderful time at your home in Tuscany - I didn't want to leave. We found horse-riding nearby and spent three hours hacking around the hills and forests nearby. The scenery is just amazing. We are already planning next year.

Your house is lovely. We loved Buonconvento and Montalcino; my husband and I went to a jazz concert in the castle which was excellent. It couldn't have been better.
