Accommodations:  Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Loft, 1 Bath (Sleeps 4-6)

Keywords:  Cabin

Our solar powered log cabin is located on 90 acre Lehto Lake. We are 45 minutes from the busy tourist attractions of Minocqua, and 1 hr. from the quiet beauty of Lake Superior. We have 120 wooded acres surrounded by another 700 acres of state land. Most of Lehto Lake's shoreline is undeveloped because it is owned by a nature conservancy. The other 2 cabins on the lake are not visible from our cabin and only used on occasional weekends so you are guaranteed privacy and quiet. This is a place to relax.

You can fish or hunt all day, walk or snowshoe the old logging trails, kayak or canoe around the island and through cattails in the adjoining marsh, pick wild berries, or just sit around the large fire pit and enjoy amazing sunsets. Several other lakes and the Flambeau Flowage are nearby, providing excellent additional fishing opportunities. Bike, ATV and snowmobile trails abut our property. Two kayaks, a canoe, and a 14 ft. aluminum boat with a 4 hp motor are available for your use. We are also near some of the best cross country and downhill skiing in the midwest!

Our cabin is built from hand-scribed logs taken from our property (not an imitation log kit!) As a custom cabinet maker, I have put fine details in the cabin - granite and Corian countertops, hardwood floors, ceramic tile floors and shower, etc. The "master bedroom" is located in the loft which contains a double bed, recliner sofa, love seat, and TV. A bedroom in the lower level has 2 twin beds. A sleeper sofa on the main level provides additional sleeping. Because we love to cook the kitchen is extremely functional and fully stocked, but our favorite place to cook is outside over an open fire. The lower level rec room contains a ping pong table for evening or rainy day fun.

In addition to solar power we have a back-up generator, and a furnace to suppliment the wood stove so you'll never run out of electricity or be cold.

If you check out the Google Map it will show the cabin location further from the lake than it is. Google does not recognize our address so it places the cabin too far north on Randall Lake Rd. Also, the driveway is 1 mile long so even at the proper location it looks like the cabin is not near the lake, but it definitely is. I've located the cabin with a point of interest.

In case you have small children, the railings in the loft and on the staircases now have spindles (the pictures were taken before they were installed) so you don't have to worry about safety.

Why the Owner Chose Minocqua

We didn't build this as a rental property, but as a second home. Because our business is located at our home, we need a place to get away from work. This property is the perfect location - quiet and relaxing. Our daughter is in college now. We've found that renting out the cabin has been a great way to help put her through school and share our quiet get-away with others.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin

The peacefulness! On most of our visits we never hear another human, just the wildlife.

Our family lives in Lac du Flambeau, WI (40 minutes from the rental cabin) where I am self-employed as a custom cabinet maker.

Surpassed expectations

My husband and I, our two boys (ages 11 and 15 yrs) and golden retriever spent 3 wonderful nights in January at this cabin. We were thrilled by the beautiful setting and privacy... in fact, we didn't see another person the whole time we were at the cabin. The cabin is well-appointed with lovely views. We watched the moon set over the lake from the loft bedroom. it is a luxury to have such comforts in a remote spot. Very clean. Well-stocked wood supply. Jerry and Ann were gracious about teaching us about the place and surrounding things to do. We hope to return soon.

Perfect place to run away!

We were looking for a place to get away from it all and this was the PERFECT place! Our visit was from October 3-7, 2011. It was so peaceful and colorful! The cabin felt like home (after Jerry's quick tutorial) and his suggestion of Springstead Lake Lodge for a casual dinner out was fabulous. We started the days out on the kayaks and had the water to ourselves! Spotted loons, ducks and bald eagles while on the water. Took hikes through the woods everyday and ended our evenings with a fire and a million stars and the moon. There was nothing about the cabin, the surrounding woods or this vacations we didn't love. This was one of the greatest vacations we ever took and we look forward to visiting again!

Jerry and Ann Thank you so much for sharing your home. We don't think the photos do it justice. This was the nicest home we have ever rented. We were looking for a quiet place to get away and enjoy the stars at night. Everything was just perfect. We found we spent most of the time reading out on the deck just enjoying the view. A perfect place to decompress. Thank you again for your hospitality, We've made many of our friends jealous when we've shared the photos of your beautiful home and surrounding property. Many thanks again!

If you bring a cellphone, computer, or your boat needs a motor, you're missing the point here!

Quiet, secluded, peaceful. The cabin is charming, well maintained and very clean. The owners are great. My wife, our 18 yr old son, our well behaved dog, and I enjoyed this delightful cabin in a pristine location. A variety of wildlife (loon, beaver, otter, deer, eagle to name a few) were to be seen on the very private 120 acres. We ate all our meals on the large deck with wonderful views of the lake. We enjoyed freshly picked raspberries from the many wild raspberry bushes on the property at every meal. We made s'mores over the campfire while enjoying the sunset. Kayaking and canoeing on the lake watching the sunset and moonrise over the trees was a special treat. The cabin runs off solar panels for electricity making this place eco friendly without sacrificing the comforts of home. Very appropriate given its natural setting. We will be back!

Exclusive Private Paradise

Date of Stay: 06/17/11 Review Submitted: 06/20/11

We just returned from our weekend at this beautiful well maintained cabin in the northwoods of Wisconsin. Our 2 children enjoyed the lake, fishing, observing all the painted turtles around the yard as well as the campfire pit where we made s'mores. The home is well stocked with everything you need in a home away from home. The beds were very comfortable and the home had a very cozy feel to it. Quality throughout the home was very apparent. Beautiful views from every window in the house. This was a wonderful place to stay and would highly reccomend it to anyone looking for total seclusion and privacy. Ann and Jerry were very, very accomodating to anything you may need and were willing to give advice on things to do in the area. If you choose to do nothing, I assure you, you will be well rested and enjoy this vacation home!

Memorial Day weekend

Guest: Laura (Middleton, WI)
Date of Stay: 05/29/11 Review Submitted: 06/06/11

My husband and I celebrated our first anniversary together at the cabin and had a fantastic time. It is absolutely gorgeous, very secluded, and immaculately clean. Jerry and Ann are great hosts, meet you at the cabin to show you around, and quickly get out of your hair to enjoy your time there. You have all of the amenities of your own home with beautiful scenery. We saw a lot of wildlife, but unfortunately did not run into the black bear that supposedly roams around the area. Great walking paths, beautiful canoe rides around the lake, and cozy fires at night made this a perfect little weekend retreat. I would recommend this to either a couple or small family.

A Wonderful Winter Vacation

Guest: New Adventurers (Spring Grove, IL)
Date of Stay: 12/26/10 Review Submitted: 01/27/11

We had a wonderful winter get-away at Jerry and Ann's cabin. It is a beautiful cabin sitting about a mile back from the road littered with trees, sitting on a lake! We enjoyed icefishing and appreciated Jerry bringing over an auger and tip-ups for us to use. Our boys loved the ping pong table and all of the games that are stocked at the house. We brought our own food to fix in the stocked kitchen, and were in a bit of amazement when Ann told us to just write something on the list if we used the last of it! The surrounding area is beautiful. Our golden retriever loved taking walks and checking for wildlife. This cabin is very clean and well-maintained as it is used as a second home. You can tell that it is very loved. Jerry and Ann were always available to answer any questions and went above and beyond in welcoming us to stay there. We would definately recommend this property to a friend or relative, and if fact have! We are hoping to return in the summer to enjoy all of the wonderful things this property has to offer during a different season.

Beautiful and serene!!

Guest: Maggie and Mat (Chicago)
Date of Stay: 01/02/11 Review Submitted: 01/11/11

I was thoroughly impressed with everything about this cabin. My boyfriend, dog, and I needed a quiet getaway from the overly exhausting city life and we got it!! It was just what we needed to relax, unwind, and there was much to explore for our dog. The cabin looks exactly as it does in the pictures posted online, so there were no surprises. Ann and Jerry were more than accommodating with information about where to go in the surrounding area. Overall, we had a lovely experience and will most likely choose to stay at their cabin again for our next North Woods trip.

Just What We Needed

Guest: Bernie (Naperville, IL)
Date of Stay: 11/29/10 Review Submitted: 12/02/10

We visited Jerry and Ann's cabin this past week and it was just what we needed. We were looking for a place that was peaceful and homey and their cabin was perfect. They made us feel very welcome --- I felt like we were visiting family. Jerry met us at the cabin to get us all set up. The cabin is very spacious and extremely tidy/clean. The pantry is well appointed and they have every kitchen item that you can imagine. We loved stoking the wood stove and learning how to calibrate temperature (we started out a little on the toasty side:). You'd never know it was 20 degrees outside! Another plus was that our little dog Jake was welcome at their place. We will enjoy returning when the temperatures allow us to enjoy the beautiful lake, deck, and fire pit. Bob and Bernie.
