Located in Vinaros, a town of 30,000 on the northern tip of the province of Valencia, this house has been in the same family for as long as 300 years and the sense of family is apparent throughout. It is the only remaining single-family home on the town's most noted plaza. It has original tile and other interior touches that connect to its history. It has been called a shoebox on its end because it features 4 stories with two rooms on each floor. We have kept the rustic appeal while upgrading the comfort level. The ground floor features a foyer in front and a garage in back. The garage is narrow and not suitable for today's vehicles. It is stocked with beach items and a few bikes.
The first floor holds the kitchen with original beams and low ceilings. As you climb the home's 48 steps, you will see bedrooms staggered in the front and back. There are two small bedrooms with single beds which have balconies that overlook the plaza in front. There are three larger bedrooms offset in the back. One of the bedrooms has become known as the children's room. It has a small television and DVD player and is also stocked with children's books and games. The top floor features a spacious bedroom with a patio adjoining. The patio is the perfect place for meals.
As much as we love the interior, we spend a great deal of our day outside. A typical summer day would be awakening and having coffee at a cybercafe on one end of the plaza. We would then go to the beach until siesta. Upon returning to the house we would decide between making a meal or choosing to eat at one of the more-than dozen restaurants within a five-minute walk. The evening may mean sightseeing at a nearby town or strolling along the paseo. One of our favorite parts of the day is the evening meal, often on our patio overlooking the plaza. We sometimes order paella from a cafe a few doors down and have it brought up.
Vinaros is a town of 30,000 and features great restaurants, beaches and transportation (bus/train/rental car).

Why the Owner Chose Valencia
We bought this to keep it in our family. We have only rented it to friends but now feel we are ready to offer it to others. We have probably had 30 groups rent it and 27 of those groups loved it. The location is the best in the town. The 3 groups didn't like it because they wanted air conditioners instead of fans and generally wanted something more modern.
