Our quiet white shingled 'Nantucket Style' cottage perches herself overlooking the tranquil waters of Mt. Hope Bay and is directly on a private beach. The Victorian 30 foot white wicker porch is covered with flowers spilling from their window boxes looking at the sea. It is the perfect spot to sip your morning coffee watching the red sunrise or have a glass of wine watching the captains billowing sails go by towards their open sea adventure. A balmy night, the moonlit sea, a soft breeze, sultry music together with a dazzling view of twinkling lights across the bay bridge make for one of the most memorable evenings of the summer! You won't want to leave your front porch!
The tranquil blue and white 'Captains Room' overlooking the ocean is thoughtfully appointed in Laura Ashley blue and white designer linens, down pillows and down duvets and is perfect for a plush week of restful sleep. Keep your windows open to hear the water lapping against the shore.
The sun soaked 'Rose Garden' room is done in a cottage white and cranberry rose Waverly bedding, white wicker and also has special touches of down pillows and duvets. It is sun soaked and has climbing roses in front of its windows along with window boxes full of blooms.
A new English white kitchen with bead board white cabinets, butcher block counters, gas stove and a farmers sink is ready for you to enjoy if you decide to cook or just make tea.
Much of your time may be spent on our patio outside overlooking the beach relaxing on our comfortable padded chaise lounge chairs.
Some of our guests fish directly in front of the house for their catch of the day. You can shell all day and walk the beach or take your own boat, call for our mooring availability and capacity. Anyone who wants a get away for a special occasion or just a vacation, this is a special place to come and not far from any adventure, including the fantastic Newport Mansions, Polo Grounds, Roger Williams Zoo, the stately homes of Bristol, our favorite casual restaurants, golf, etc...
Come prepared for anything, or just bring your flip flops and enjoy being at home on the beach!

This secluded, perfect beach cottage is even better than the pictures depict. The house is beautiful and comfortable. The view is fantastic. We got used to getting up and watching the boats and wildlife every morning. The owner provided helpful information about nearby activities and restaurants. She even stocked the refigerator with dinner and breakfast for the day we arrived! We intended to visit nearby sites, including Boston and Providence, but found it very hard to leave the sea. Restaurants in Bristol were great. We would recommend this to anyone and hope to come back one day.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Merry Christmas, Dee, and thank you!!! Cozy cottage, very pretty and comfortable -- We are loving it in winter, with just enough snow to charm us Californians and give us a a taste of New England white Christmas. . . On the day we arrived Dee left us a platter of delectable snacks -- cheeses, fruit, pita and hummus, and sweets -- which we happily consumed as our first meal here at the cottage. (And a Christmas tree on the porch, complete with lights. . .) We are cooking and baking some, exploring the neighborhood, including a multitude of charming historic towns and coastal sights, enjoying the local restaurants, and have made trips to Providence and Boston, both easy to reach from here., to see our children and the Museum of Fine Arts . . and simply settling in for cozy times here in the cottage. The beds are divinely comfortable, or am I just more relaxed and happy than usual? I love the stark beauty of the silvery grey water, bare trees, snow on the shore across the inlet, snow on the litte patch of lawn out back, with bird footprints, and the quiet. We have a few more days left, I am happy to say. . .Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+.

My husband and I just spent four very relaxing days enjoying this beautiful little cottage and it's views. The interior is immaculate, well appointed and tastefully decorated. The owner had provided a great deal of information about the area attractions and restaurants both at the cottage in a binder and on the telephone the week before our stay. She also provided us with her telephone number in case we had any questions while we were at the cottage. When we arrived we were delighted by a large platter of fruits, vegetables, cheeses, meats and crackers which had been left for us by the owner. We were impressed by her frendliness and attention to detail. We enjoyed going through some of the shops in Bristol and walking along the beach at the lighthouse in Little Compton as she had suggested. I would highly recommend this enchanting cottage to anyone. We loved the entire experience.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We stayed at the cottage in August - if was beautifully decorated inside and outside landscaping was as lovely as the picture. The pictures don't do it justice. The cottage had everything we needed. It is right on the water - and has a comfortable screened in porch overlooking the water - a perfect place to relax. The owners were extremely easy to work with and left us delightful treats to enjoy - very accomodating. I have had good experiences with my VRBO rentals - this one was exceptionally good.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We've stayed in hundreds of B&Bs, country inns, beach houses and resort properties in our lives and have never felt compelled to write a review until now. You will LOVE this cottage so much that you will want to extend your stay! Cool, soothing bay breezes awaken you and soft, lapping waves lull you to sleep - what could possibly be better than this? The owner was so warm, so gracious and so accommodating every step of the way - from our initial email exchanges through check-out day. Personalized notes and fresh flowers throughout the house welcomed us upon our arrival, as did delicious and decadent treats that were so unexpected and very much appreciated after our long drive. The cottage itself is just precious - right out of a magazine - and the only downside is that we had to leave it at the end of our stay! We will be back for sure!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We spent an incredibly relaxing week at this cottage in August 2009. The water views are "drop dead" with the cottage lawn extending to the beach wall and private beach. Hydrangeas, roses, flower gardens and overflowing window boxes complete the picture book setting. Inside we found it well supplied with high quality linens and towels. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare a meal which we did one night for visiting guests. Dinning that night on the lawn overlooking the water was memorable. Area restaurants are excellent and abundant making eating in truly optional. We plan to put this on must do list each summer.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 9/9

About the owner: We are a romantic couple who love the beach and small historic seacoast villages. We live in a lovely historic town in Massachusetts however love the coast and the milder temperatures of Bristol, Rhode Island. We have built several homes in the past and I am an interior decorator and we loved the challenge of taking a historic home on the ocean and creating a home away from home by the sea. It's a hard place to rationalize owning if you don't share it with others. There's no place like the beach!
Why the Owner Chose Bristol:
We were fortunate enough to have an opportunity to buy a lovely 'Nantucket' style rose cottage on the beach in a private, quiet neighborhood in Bristol, RI. This quaint town is still a treasure that no one has found! We are far enough removed where we are located in Bristol but near every amenity. We don't have to take a plane or a boat to get to our beach house. It is an easy drive for us and most people to get here. There is so much to do and not the hustle and bustle that some of the more tourist towns can have. The unique restaurants, antique stores, boutiques and parks are within our bicycles reach! We get up in the morning and look at the red sunrise over the ocean as we sip our morning coffee and our neighborhood heron greets us on the beach.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
The sound of the ocean lapping against the shore in front of the house is mesmerizing. The spectacular view of the sailing boats billowing by the house is why we named it Bristol Sails. The Swans that visit are all gentle reminders you are on the beach and can enjoy the peaceful life here. Stay home all day and enjoy it in flip flops, cook outside and enjoy the outdoors or get ready to adventure everyday to a newly discovered spot in Bristol or neighboring towns. Unique treasure hunting at the local antique or upscale consignment shops is fun or taking in a Polo match, golfing or picnics in Colt State Park are fantastic!
