Having stayed in a number of apartments in Europe previously, this one was a bit disappointing. Marijana was initially helpful in correspondence prior to our arrival but we never did meet her in person. The owner of this property does not live there. We were told to arrive at a local hotel and an employee escorted us to the apartment. Although quaint and generally clean, it was obvious that the place was not well maintained. The bedspread did not look clean. Dishes were dirty and the kitchen sink leaked into the cupboard underneath and smelled bad. There was no dishcloth or tea towel so we had to wash glasses with our fingers to have a drink of water, however, when we asked at the hotel, these were provided quickly. The only amenities in the kitchen was a canister of old coffee and the remnants of an encrusted sugar pot. In the bath, there was a tiny bit of liquid soap in the bottom of a bottle. My husband was not thrilled with squatting in the tub for a shower because the ceiling is low, but the pictures show this. The drains smelled of sewage, which is forgivable in old town, although friends who stayed in other properties did not have this and had much nicer places with welcoming managers and amenities. The many inside stairs to get to the apartment were quite worn and uneven, and we had to negotiate them in the dark a few times before we found the light switch at the bottom of the stairs in the daylight. We had no hot water on the morning we left, not a drop. The location of this apartment is fabulous, however, and the place would be a little gem if it were well looked after. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this property.

Location cannot be beat
Location cannot be beat
Friends who have traveled to Dubrovnik in the past told me that my lodging options were to either pay a ton of money to stay in a hotel close to the old city, or less money to stay a long way away from the old city. This place proves that is not at all the case. The location is fantastic; less than five minutes walk to just about any place in the old city. The pictures in the listing are spot on, and the place was immaculately clean when we arrived. I also want to second a previous reviewer's comments about Marijana. Super easy to deal with before hand, and she made making arrangements a breeze. We got to Dubrovnik by bus, and she even came and got us at the bus station and walked us up to the apartment to make sure we didn't get lost.

Couldn't have asked for a better location!
Couldn't have asked for a better location!
My friend and I stayed at the Primavera apartment from June 12 to June 19. We went to Dubrovnik for my brother's wedding (he got married at the Sponza Palace) and needless to say, we had an amazing time in Dubrovnik and of course at his wedding! The apartment is literally at the heart of old town - just a short block and a half away from the main drag (they call it the Stradum.) Keep in mind, old town is strictly pedestrian; you have to walk in from one of the 3 gates. You'll most likely enter from the main Pile gate; in any case, it's about a 5 minute walk from any of these gates. The apartment is very comfortable and we especially liked the bathtub. The pictures are pretty much right on. There is free wifi in the city, but the reception in the apartment wasn't strong - we ended up using the free pass the owner gave us for the internet cafe around the corner. Frankly, we didn't have time to go on the net - we were having too much fun exploring and enjoying the city! Marijana, the owner, was a pleasure to deal with. She responded to my emails almost right away, which surprised me considering the time difference between California and Croatia. Make sure to eat at the restaurant right outside the door to the apartment building (I forgot the name of it...), but you can't miss it. I highly recommend you eat there for your first meal! It helped us get situated and the food is to die for! By the way, I hope you like European style pizza; there are pizzerias everywhere in Croatia! Also, make sure to go to the bar/pub called Cold Drinks - and go there during the day (you'll understand why when you go :-) The only other pointer I can give you is to not miss hiking on the ramparts - you'll have the best views of old town Dubrovnik from the these walls. Just make sure to go first thing in the morning before the large crowds coming from the cruise ships descend upon Dubrovnik (they usually start flooding the old town at around 10 in the morning.)
