"Dolce Domenica" (Sweet Sunday) is one of the most beautifully designed and comfortable houses on Plum Island and it is just across the street from the path to a quiet lovely ocean beach.
Summer visitors love its decks with their expansive, almost 360 degree, views of the land and ocean, the private outdoor hot and cold water shower, the foot shower for sandy feet, the beach chairs, beach towels and umbrellas -- all their for your use.
At every season, Dolce provides a unparallel respite. In spring and fall the cool days are perfect for beach walking, bicycling in the 8 miles of land in the reservation only a few blocks away. Even in the winter, the fireplace and the light make it a comfortable retreat.
But, of course, summer is "prime time" and if you are interested in all that a New England beach vacation can be, then Dolce is perfect for you.
Dolce has light, air (and air-conditioning)and a beautifully furnished space with art, crafts and antiques from around the world, but Dolce remains at heart a comfortable family vacation place.
Where sand can be swept, beach towels can be hung over the deck and time can be spent relaxing with family and friends. We have two full bedrooms, 2 baths (one with a view of the ocean), gas fireplace in the open-plan, living dining and kitchen area, a full laundry, a granite kitchen with Bosch gas stove and (almost) every kitchen gadget ever invented!
For the non-beach-lovers, or the occasional rainy day, we are a 5 minute drive to Newburyport, a charming ship's captain town with shops, narrow stone streets and lots of shops and restaurants.
Within an hour you can be in Boston (available by a very comfortable train) or at the outlet shops of Kittery, Maine.

Why the Owner Chose Plum Island
We have always loved Plum Island: for its ocean beaches, for miles of undeveloped dunes, ocean and river landscape in the wildlife reservation, for its quiet and non-commercial quality (one general store, one liquor store, one bait shop and one of the nicest restaurants on the North Shore, the Plum Island Grill)and its authentic New England days.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We walk on the beach, ride our bicycles in the reservation, swim in the ocean, shower in the hot and cold outdoor shower, grill dinner on the deck and watch the sun go down with a glass of wine, all to the sounds of the ocean. At the same time, great restaurants and shopping are available just 5 minutes away in Newburyport, a quaint ship captains' town with a lively tourist scene.

Robert and I are retired lawyers who have been out on Plum Island for many years. We spend part of our year there and part in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. We lovingly remodeled the house at 35 Northern Boulevard, now Dolce, taking it from a total disaster to a lovely year-round family home, bathed in light and air. We spend time there in every season and it has become the place where our hearts reside in the US.

This is an incredible place- located centrally on the island to take advantage of all it has to offer. The ocean views are incredible, great neighbors and ambiance! The place has karmic energy beyond belief- so wonderfully decorated and equipped- you will be wanting for nothing. I highly recommend this place and hope that others will truly appreciate it's beauty and charm.
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
